Lockheed Unleashes ‘HULC’ Super-Strength Gear

For years a pair of brilliant scientists have been locked in a nasty fight to see who could build super-strength suits for the U.S. military.  In that battle Sarcos’ Stephen Jacobsen had a key advantage over his arch-rival, Berkeley Bionics’ Hami Kazerooni: Jacobsen had defense contracting giant Raytheon on his side. Which meant government contacts. Engineering know-how. And an ability to manufacture the exoskeletons in quantity, if need be.

Then, last month Kazerooni announced that he had teamed up with a defense-industrial giant, too. Yesterday, at the Association of the United States Army’s winter conference, Lockheed and Berkeley Bionics showed off their exoskeleton, the Human Universal Load Carrier exoskeleton — “HULC.” (This video is similar to a one we highlighted last Spring; newer footage in on the Defense News site.)

The super-strength suit attaches to the wearers’ legs, augmenting their power while shadowing their movement. According to Lockheed, HULC enables the wearer to carry up to 200 pounds without much effort — and sprint up to 10 miles per hour in short bursts. Lithium-ion batteries will keep the wearer walking at a normal pace for an hour. The companies also claim that there’s a “long-range extended 72-hour mission model,” which relies on JP8 jet fuel. But they didn’t appear to show it off at the conference.

HULC won’t boost arm strength, like Sarcos’ all-body exoskeleton.
But a shoulder strap does help with heavy lifting. And HULC doesn’t need to be tethered to a power source, like Sarcos’ suit does. Which means wearers can crawl and scamper around, uninhibited. HULC is also fairly easy to get on and off — the thing “can be removed in 30
seconds,” according to Defense News.

“The HULC can be fitted with armor plating, heating or cooling systems, sensors and ‘other custom attachments,’” Lew Page notes. “We particularly liked that last one: our personal request would be a powered gun or missile mount of some kind above the shoulder, linked to a helmet or monocle laser sight.”

Not so fast, Pagey. For now, the joint Lockheed-Berkeley team is just gearing up for “full-scale trials with the Army” in the standard super-suit, “beginning in January 2010.”

The looming Peril

The looming Peril

Ever heard of Cass Sunstein? If not, then it’s about time you did, because he is without doubt the most dangerous man on this planet.
Even as you read this, he is plotting to turn the very bastion of capitalism, the United States of America, into the new leader of capitalism’s very nemesis, communism.
While this blog is primarily about South African affairs, this is profoundly relevant, as, whatever happens across the Pacific to the nation that was once the leader of the free world, will determine our fate as well..

Sunstein is, with a tongue as forked as the serpent in the garden of Eden, laying the psychological groundwork that will test the waters of American resistance to his diabolical plans. He has already fired the first salvos, and astoundingly, unbelievably, and quite incredulously, not a single shot has been fired back, well, not one that has had any telling impact anyway. As a consequent, one is forced to ask oneself the most simple of questions. Why?

As the newly elected regulatory Czar of the Obama administration, he is attempting to single handedly usurp the Constitution by introducing, under the guise of increased justice for all, draconian laws that will harness the free world to the yoke of oppression and slavery, which, as we know, is the end goal of the evil doctrine of Marxist Communism.
The bad news is, that unless we act quickly, unless we act decisively, driven by fear of the consequences of inaction, he will succeed.

There is a force that is ruling the USA, an unelected body of power hungry psychopaths, who have managed to hijack the system through their unchallenged dominance of the financial institutions, as well a the electronic and printed media.
If I were to write a book about Aliens who take over the world using mind manipulation, it would be categorized as science fiction because it sounds preposterous, but in effect, this is exactly what is happening in the USA today.
America has been invaded by an Alien body whose interests centre purely around the acquisition of power, nothing else.
Only when the good people of the USA stand up and call them out, will this destruction of their nation end. As long as they cower behind the city walls, too afraid to fight back, the enemy will keep hammering away at the portals until they collapse, and then their final enslavement will be complete.

Never be fooled into believing that communism is dead. At the end of the cold war, the reds only feinted defeat, and through glasnost (propaganda) and perestroika (restructuring), pretended to cross the floor, falling into the welcoming embrace of the victorious Western alliance. In reality, the West should have dealt these vipers a fatal blow, but instead, they patted each other on the back and rejoiced at what they saw as a great victory for liberty and freedom.
The truth is, the viper was only pretending to be dead. It had already detected the chink in our armour, and it was in this area that they concentrated their next assault.
The weakness they detected was a perversion called liberalism.

One of the traits of the white race is our humanity. As it distinguishes us from the rest of mankind, I hesitate to call it a weakness, but in effect, that is what it is. Our enemies decided to remove their red cloaks and don less conspicuous attire so as not to attract attention as they set about taking full advantage of us in this most vulnerable of areas. They marched to the forefront of the liberal movements and took up the banners, pulling the useful idiots along behind them as they replaced the simple ideology of a bunch of idealistic dreamers with their own brand of treachery.

If you think liberalism is a pacifist movement, think again. It has been transformed by the Bolshevik agitators from the flower power movement it once was, into the most militant group in western society. They practice exactly what they accuse their enemies of – hate, fascism, threats, intimidation, and outright violence. These once peaceful flower children have been turned into a bunch of criminal thugs, and the best part is, they have been conditioned to believe this behaviour is justifiable in the name of democracy and individual freedom.

The new leaders of the revolution are a Felix Frankfurter professor who goes by the most unlikely name of Cass Sunstein (Sunshine?), and his sidekick, Ben Shalom Bernanke, who controls the economic arm of the same movement, the Federal reserve bank of America. They have been chosen to lead the final assault. The beauty of their plan is that, as they march behind the first black president of the United States of America, no one can challenge them without being mockingly dismissed as a radical rightwing racist.

I’ve often wondered why, after the 1994 elections in South Africa, the ANC, who have never hidden their ideological affiliation to communism, simply didn’t abandon capitalism and hoist the red flag over the stately Union buildings in Pretoria. I have now concluded that their new masters decided it was premature. Don’t think they were naive enough to believe the ANC could make a success of South Africa, only, the proclamation of their failure needed the right timing.
If one examines what the west have actually done in real terms to ensure the success of the black government in South Africa, it is glaringly obvious that the answer is, nothing. On the lead up to the 1994 elections we were promised not only an end to the crippling sanctions that had been imposed on the Nationalist Government, but also an unprecedented rush to invest in the new rainbow nation, a promise that never materialized.
The truth is, the leaders of the west had a reasonably good idea what the outcome of a black government would be. They knew that in the short term, while the legacy of white ruled South Africa still sustained the illusion of a successful transition, things would turn over without too much trouble. What they also knew though, was that in the long term, the house of cards would eventually come crashing down. What was essential therefore, was that the collapse be seen as a result of the failure of capitalism, and not as a result of a switch in ideology. But as I´ve already explained, the timing had to be right.
Because they are still a few years away from their ultimate goal, and the ship is sinking fast, they needed to throw us a lifeline. The football world cup is seen by many as a life prolonging injection, something that is designed to keep the patient alive until the time to announce his demise is ripe.
If Cass Sunstein and Ben Shalom Bernanke have their way, that time is just around the corner.

Blacks and liberals know that blacks are inferior

Blacks and liberals know that blacks are inferior

from http://mysasucks.com

Whites average 100 for these tests, none of the blacks could get 90.

First off I’d just like to say it’s nice to be back. I’ve had Internet problems and haven’t been able to post anything in a while. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and I hope we all have an awesome 2010.  Anyway, back to the post… My idea here looks more at common sense and basic human knowledge. You see, I feel that blacks and liberals know in their hearts that blacks are genetically inferior. All of their words and actions really seem to suggest this. When talking about blacks to a liberal, they always speak with that “shame, poor black man” tone of voice. Whether they are consciously aware of this or not, this is indirectly identifying that you feel sorry for them, meaning that they are probably inferior. Why do liberals insist on helping blacks so much, but will gladly announce that they can do anything we can do? I mean, you can’t say “That 10 year old is just as good at rugby as you 20 year olds, but please take it easy on him”. That wouldn’t make any sense right? If someone is just as good, why would they need the extra advantage? Well what exactly is BEE and AA or the sports quotas? That is quite handy help, but you’d think they wouldn’t need it, considering we’re all equal and all. So I think that  endorsing things like AA is indirectly admitting that blacks are not of the same standard as whites and that they need help desperately. Blacks know it too.

The reason why I think blacks know it, is because of the vast difference between black racism and white racism. White racism is when we don’t want to be around them for fear of our lives or of them ruining our hard work. They are desperate to mix with whites while we want nothing to do with them. Black racism is a black that dreams of killing whitey and holds a grudge against whites for his own failures. You see the difference? It’s really like blacks envy us, while (liberal) whites feel sorry for them. This is probably part of the reason why everyone seems to excuse black racism so easily. But again, I feel that that is implying that whites are infact dominant.

Nevermind the fact that there is no highly credited, scientific evidence to suggest that the races are the same, or the fact that it isn’t hard to find evidence that the races are different, their own actions and mannerisms suggest that they know what is actually the seemingly obvious. They know that without whites, blacks would still be cavemen and hunter-gatherers with no industry or modern society. The term “scientific racism” sums it up beautifully. It may seem racist, but it’s scientific! So are genes racist now? Is mother nature a racist? They are so idiotic that they dismiss proven science as racism! Although as long as political correctness reigns supreme, I guess “scientific racism” will remain a relevant argument. Hopefully more scientists will have the balls to publish proof of the differences between the races. Until then, us whites just need to be the very best we can be, and not let white guilt and political correctness tear us down.

A comprehensive profile of the rapist and his methods, relying on interviews with law enforcement officials, victims, and experts, as well as visits to each of the man’s 17 known and suspected crime scenes along the East Coast.

He lurks at gas stations and pay phones and bus stops, blending in so well that people don’t notice him at first. He has a smooth, deep voice. He is black, he smokes and he is right-handed. He is in his early to mid-30s, is fit, stands about 6 feet tall, likes wearing camouflage clothes and black hats, and once had a badly chipped tooth.

The man studies women carefully. He watches them leave for work and walk home from the mall, and he notices whether they lock their windows and doors. He knows when they are most vulnerable and when they are home alone with their children. He stalks them in neighborhoods he knows well.

Then he rapes them and vanishes.

He is the East Coast Rapist. And police know so much about this man. They even have his DNA. But when it comes right down to it, he is a frustrating mystery. No one has been able to find him.

His attacks have spanned 13 years, beginning in Prince George’s County in the late 1990s, moving into Virginia and then up to New England.

Now he has been back to Northern Virginia. The most recent rapes were on Halloween in Dale City, when he forced three trick-or-treating teenage girls into a wooded ravine at gunpoint. That was the closest police have come to finding him. And the attacks showed them that he’s brasher than ever.

“He is a very bold, fearless predator,” said Sgt. Kim Chinn, a Prince William County police spokeswoman. “The concern is that he’s out there, he’s not going to stop until he’s caught and the violence could get worse.”

“He’s like a lion looking for prey,” said one of his victims, a woman who was raped in her Leesburg apartment in 2001.

Police detectives and five of the rapist’s victims cooperated with the reporting of this article with the same goal in mind: They want to identify and catch him before he attacks again. The Washington Post generally does not name victims of sex crimes and is not identifying any of the victims in this article. Some of them, parents themselves, said they were willing to discuss their attacks because the man raped teenagers.

“Somebody’s going to know who’s been in Prince George’s, who’s been in Fairfax, who went to Connecticut,” said Lt. Bruce Guth, who leads Fairfax County’s cold-case squad. “The bastard’s right there. We just need that one phone call. Somebody knows this guy.”

Police in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut and Rhode Island have been hunting the rapist for more than a decade, but the Halloween attacks added urgency to their search. A trail of DNA links him to the rapes of at least 12 women, and police suspect him in a total of 17 attacks. Detectives think there might be more.

Experts say the rapist is probably in a continual search for his next victim. Police think he lives in, works in or is very familiar with the areas he prowls. He scopes out locations to intercept women, secluded sites in the midst of busy neighborhoods and ways to escape. He grabs women who are in their comfort zones, near or in their own homes.

“He’s taking advantage of people who are unguarded,” said Fairfax Detective John Kelly. “He’s doing it under the cover of darkness. He acts like a trapper would.”

His methods remain unpredictable. He has attacked using a gun, a knife, a screwdriver and a broken bottle. He has approached his victims using banal conversation or an abrupt demand. He compliments them and threatens to kill them. But beyond the violence of the rapes, he has not carried out any of those threats.

The rapist’s DNA has not turned up in any database of convicted criminals, and police think he knows it because he seldom uses a condom. He is skilled at hiding his face by operating in the dark, wearing a mask or covering his victims’ faces.

Besides his deep voice, which several of the women say they would recognize, descriptions of him remain fairly vague: black man with medium complexion, medium build.

Police have been looking at known sex offenders, people who have lived near the rape sites and people who have served prison time during gaps between the assaults. That has allowed them to rule out more than 100 possible suspects, but they haven’t been able to home in on anyone specific. They are using a high-tech data analysis program to scour leads and identify people with connections to the areas of the attacks.

But rapes by a stranger are among the most difficult to solve. This predator picks women and girls with whom he has no apparent association. Most are black, but some are white. The descriptions the women have provided are generic at best. Other than DNA, he leaves little evidence.

Although they are open to any possibility, detectives are exploring whether the man could be a long-haul trucker, a utility installer or a member of the military.

Whatever he is, he’s back. His rapes on Halloween carry several of his trademarks.

The three teenagers were laughing, chatting and sending text messages in the chilly night rain, their bags of candy swaying as they walked through a dimly lit Dale City shopping center. They were just a few blocks from home.

Slinking out of the darkness, a stranger wearing a black ski mask was suddenly behind them. One of the girls felt a gun in her back. The man led them into a steep wooded ravine as they held one another’s hands. A deep voice through clenched teeth told them to lie down side by side and to face away from him.

“I thought he was going to kill us,” one of the girls recalled.

As her two friends were raped in the leaves beside her, the 16-year-old dimmed her cellphone’s backlight. Operating blindly, she pleaded with her parents and friends for help, texting her rough location. She called her mother and then 911, breathlessly asking police to “please help me, please help me, please help me” before the call was dropped.

Within minutes, her mother, just a few blocks away, was racing to the woods from one side. Prince William police raced from the other side. As the lights and sirens closed in, the man stopped.

“He said, ‘Stay down. Don’t move,’ ” the girl said. “Then we heard him run away, the leaves crunching under his feet.”

And like that, he was gone, emerging from the woods into a busy neighborhood. Police were close. But not close enough.

* * *

It started almost exactly 13 years ago. The man wearing a ski mask rode his bicycle along Marlboro Pike in Forestville just after midnight, scanning the streets for a victim. He spotted a 25-year-old woman walking alone, approached her and started talking. He pulled out a gun and attacked.

The rape, on Feb. 19, 1997, marked the first time the man’s DNA would be entered into a database that holds genetic evidence from unsolved crimes. It occurred one month after and one month before similar assaults in the same neighborhood.

Those early rapes in Prince George’s provide some of the best clues to the man’s identity. The women never got a clear view of his face, but two of them noticed that one of his teeth was chipped or missing. Sometimes he wore a green camouflage coat.

The man, then in his late teens or early 20s, seemed to know the area well. Two women recalled seeing him near an Amoco station along Pennsylvania Avenue just before they were attacked.

“Reasonable people can assume he’s from there,” said Lt. Col. Kevin Davis, deputy chief of police in Prince George’s.

That spring, police sounded their first alarm that a serial rapist was at work. Prince George’s police publicly warned women to be on guard. Detectives think he might have seen media coverage, with headlines reporting a “bicycle-riding rapist.” In August, he raped again in Prince George’s, but he changed his method. He ditched the gun and bike and was on foot and armed with a knife.

The rapist then expanded his hunting ground. By summer 1999, he was roaming Fairfax’s Route 1 corridor, a busy section of strip malls, restaurants and apartment buildings. He lurked at gas stations and bus stops at night.

Carrying a knife, he spied one woman passing him with grocery bags, grabbed her from behind and led her to a desolate spot behind a real estate office. He plucked off one of her shoes and pulled one of her legs out of her pants, making it even more difficult for her to escape because it would have been nearly impossible to run. He would later repeat the tactic.

He began focusing on roads leading into townhouse communities and apartment complexes. There, police said, he could watch women come and go and attack when his best opportunity arose.

At one such location in the Alexandria section of Fairfax in November 2000, a 35-year-old woman fought him off. The rapist approached her as she entered a new townhouse community after getting off a bus. He implied that he was lost. He put her in a headlock and led her to a wooded area. The woman, who was in the military, wrestled a six-inch serrated knife from him. She told police that she tried to stab him and that he insisted he was “just playing” and ran off.

The knife, linked to him by DNA collected from skin cells, is the only known item the rapist has left behind.

In May 2001, he struck again, this time at an apartment complex in Leesburg.

When he grabbed the woman from behind and wrapped his arms around her, she laughed. She thought her husband had come into the second-floor garden apartment to help her move.

“What I noticed is that nobody was laughing with me,” she said. She looked down. The strong, black arms were not her husband’s.

“He said, ‘Shut up or I’ll kill you. I have a knife,’ ” she recalled.

The 41-year-old woman, who looks younger than her age, had spent the evening ferrying belongings from the apartment to her car. It was warm, and she wore a T-shirt and running shorts. The apartment was nearly empty. About 5 p.m., she sent her 14-year-old son to his taekwondo lesson.

While she was at the car, the rapist slipped through the open front door. He waited.

When she returned, he pushed her into the bedroom and onto the floor. Threatening her with an orange-handled Phillips head screwdriver, he bound her hands over her head with shoelaces he brought with him. He was chewing something, maybe gum or a toothpick that poked out the corner of his mouth. He covered her face with her shirt.

She thought: “So this is what it’s like to be raped.”

With him on top of her, the woman remembered a downstairs neighbor who complained about noise every time she ran on her treadmill. She banged the floor with her foot, hoping the neighbor would interrupt. This time, there was no complaint.

“Where’s your mother?” she blurted. “Anyone with a good mother wouldn’t do this.”

That made the rapist angry, and he told her to shut up or he’d kill her. When she told him she was having trouble breathing, he moved the shirt away from her mouth. But he threatened her again.

“Don’t say anything to the police,” he said. “I live right across the hall.”

As in several other cases, the rapist complimented the woman, saying that she was “fine” and suggesting that in his own mind there was some mutual pleasure.

When he finished, he bundled up her clothes, her shoes and her cellphone. He gathered the shoelaces and the screwdriver and fled. Naked and terrified, the woman ran to the window and yelled for neighbors to call 911.

Her clothes and bedding had all been packed, so she covered herself in the only thing she could find — Christmas wrapping paper — until police arrived.

Leesburg Detective Lisa Kara said police interviewed people in the apartment across from the woman’s at the time — a unit that often housed transients — but made little headway.

Three months later, the rapist attacked two Prince George’s teenagers at gunpoint as they walked home from the Marlow Heights shopping center near the Beltway. He forced the two into the woods in what would be the first time he raped two people in a single incident. The wooded ravine is similar to the scene of the recent Prince William attack.

Days after Christmas 2001, a 29-year-old mother of four from Fairfax was running late for her 7 p.m. work shift. She pulled on a turtleneck, a T-shirt, a sweat shirt and a coat and waited at a bus stop in the Alexandria section of the county.

She saw a man smoking a cigarette and thought he was being polite by standing back at the edge of the woods. He came closer and asked whether she knew when the next bus would arrive.

But the man didn’t want an answer. “I have a weapon — follow me,” he said. She caught a glimpse of a knife handle in his coat pocket.

As he led her down the street, the bus went by, too late to help. He demanded money. When she insisted that she had none, he didn’t believe her.

“You work all the time,” he said. He was right. She had two jobs, one at Ames and the other in a fast-food restaurant. She thought he could not have known that unless he had been watching her.

The tip of the knife dug into the left side of her neck. When they reached a nearby apartment complex, he forced her to the mulch, lifted her clothes over her face, and pulled off one of her shoes and one leg of her jeans.

She shivered in the winter cold, and he told her to stop shaking. Throughout the attack, she prayed aloud: “Thank you, Jesus.” The rapist got angry and ordered her to be quiet, but she refused. He then got up and, for a moment, she thought the assault was over. He wasn’t done.

“It was too good to stop,” he told her. After the rape, he said he would come back to get her if she had AIDS or got pregnant. Finally, he was gone.

She lay silently, counting backward from 100. At 30, she got up. With one pant leg trailing behind her and a shoe in her hand, she rushed home. She desperately wanted to take a shower and be done with it, but her husband persuaded her to report the crime. Police recovered DNA that linked her case to the others.

A few months later, the woman was at work when a customer’s voice stopped her cold. Ames security guards had spotted a man suspected of shoplifting baby clothes and later told her that when the man looked in her direction, he took off running.

“It was the voice,” she said. “I had the sense that he was coming back for me.”

* * *

After the last Fairfax rape, in 2001, at least four years passed without any signs of the rapist. There are no solid explanations. Police say any theory is just speculation, but they are focusing on the most likely reasons: a stint in jail, military service, a life change such as marriage or the birth of a child, relocation outside the country. Or he might have been thwarted and was scared off for a while.

“But these gaps might not be gaps at all,” said Prince William Detective Todd Troutner, flipping through a white binder labeled “The Rapist.” “We just might not know of all the attacks.”

In the evening darkness just after Thanksgiving in 2006, the attacker reappeared, leaving DNA more than 400 miles north of his previously known assaults. This time it was on the back deck of a house at the end of a cul-de-sac in Cranston, R.I.

An 11-year-old girl, doing homework on a living room couch, looked up to see a stranger’s face poking into her dining room. An unlocked sliding-glass door had been opened, and the man had stepped slightly through it. The girl screamed, the family’s large black Great Dane began barking, and the man ran away. No one was hurt.

“It was dark out, and I had just gotten home from work. He probably saw me come home and probably thought I was by myself,” the girl’s mother, now 42, said in an interview at their home. “We thought it was a local homeless guy or something.”

After the split-second encounter, police arrived and examined the scene.

Just outside the door, they found three drops of semen. The DNA matched that from the rapes in Maryland and Virginia.

“I guess we were lucky,” the girl’s mother said. “Why he was here doesn’t make any sense. I’ve tried so hard to figure it out.”

Janet I. Warren, associate director of the Institute of Law, Psychiatry and Public Policy at the University of Virginia and an expert on serial rapists, said the peeping Tom incident says a lot about the man.

“I can assure you he’s been looking into many windows,” Warren said. “He probably has a methodical way of sizing up women, sizing up areas, sizing up apartment complexes. . . . He’s moving around the area and looking for victims and getting a sense of the people. He’s familiar with who locks their doors and windows.”

Police in New Haven, Conn., believe the rapist moved to New England for work or to be with family. The only attack in New Haven linked by DNA occurred just a month and a half after the Cranston incident, but police think he could have committed three similar assaults in New Haven around that same time.

In each of the New Haven attacks, the assailant entered homes through an unlocked door or window and confronted women in darkened bedrooms. In three of the cases, he attacked women who were home alone with children — like in Cranston — and instead of a weapon he used the children as leverage.

“He’s definitely watching them,” said Sgt. Martin Dadio of the New Haven Police Department’s special investigations unit. “He’s looking to get someone who will do whatever he wants because they want to protect their kid.”

Evidence of that is clear in a rape that took place on Jan. 10, 2007, in an isolated New Haven apartment complex.

The woman, then 27, arrived home after picking up her 11-month-old son at day care. She opened a window to cool off her ground-level apartment, put the baby to bed and watched television before going to sleep about 10.

She awoke sometime after midnight, not wearing her glasses and groggy from sleep. She saw a man silhouetted against her bedroom doorway and heard him say: “Don’t yell.”

The man ordered her to cover her head with her pillowcase.

“I froze and did what I was told to do,” she said. Her son, one week shy of his first birthday, was sleeping in a crib in the room. She prayed he wouldn’t wake up. “He specifically said, ‘I’m not going to hurt you — I know you have your son here.’ It was almost like he started feeling bad, like he couldn’t control himself.”

At one point, the rapist asked her if she “liked it,” and she didn’t answer for fear of angering him. When he was done, he warned her not to report the crime.

“He told me not to call the police, and if I did, he’d know and he’d come back and kill me,” she said. “And he said, ‘Make sure to lock your windows.’ “

The apartment complex is not a place one would just stumble upon. It is tucked into the back of a residential neighborhood and is far from pedestrian traffic.

“You wouldn’t go there unless you had business there or family there,” said Lt. Julie Johnson, head of the New Haven police’s special investigations unit. “He plans these. He’s watching. He knows the areas.”

In three other cases in New Haven, the attacker did not leave DNA behind, either because he used a condom, a makeshift condom or the woman fended him off. But they carry some of the rapist’s signatures. Just as in one of the Fairfax rapes, the attacker in New Haven told a woman to “stop shaking.” He spoke with a Caribbean accent in some of the attacks, but one woman reported that he turned it on and off, indicating that it might be fake. He complimented them on their bodies and the act, something experts said probably shows some level of fantasy or a confused sense that what he is doing is consensual.

* * *

Nearly three years passed between the last known attack in Connecticut, in January 2007, and the Halloween rapes in Dale City. Police are examining unsolved rapes in several states to determine whether this attacker could have committed them, because they think there must be some they don’t know about.

But last Halloween, it was him again: He was dressed in all black, wore a black mask, used a gun, grabbed the three teenage girls as they walked home and spoke in a deep voice through gritted teeth.

The rapes were in a wooded area he must have scouted.

Located just yards from a shopping center and a large residential community off Dale Boulevard, the walk down into the small clearing is precarious. It’s a shortcut where people have tossed Natural Light beer cans, empty bottles, a stray car tire and other trash.

“It’s a pretty good location for what he wanted to do,” said Troutner, the Prince William detective, standing next to the ravine floor where the teenagers were ordered to lie in the cold, wet darkness.

The girls held hands and scrambled into the ravine as the masked attacker followed with a gun, all of them afraid to cry out or run for fear that he might shoot them. He raped one girl, then moved on to the next. That’s when the third crouched over her phone and decided to text. At 9:05 p.m., she created a message, addressed it to seven people, and typed furiously: “911 cvs pls noww man with gun.”

“I can text really fast,” she said. “I turned my backlight down and texted my mom, my dad and friends, asking them for help, telling them that I was in the woods, that a man was raping my friends, and to please call 911.”

There was no anger in the rapist’s voice, no tension, no compassion. Almost no tone at all.

“He just came, got what he wanted and left,” she said. “That’s it.”

Future of America- Meet the the new American people.

Future of America

Meet the the new American people.

The Death of the Nation. Race Realism is the only way to save the nation, once people understand what is at the core of every threat we face as a people, and how they are all connected, only then do we even have a chance.

Illegal Aliens March Through LAAnother Proud Group of Fine Citizens from South of the Border

Thomas Paine On The Amnesty Madness [Video]

Thomas Paine has released a video on the coming amnesty for illegal aliens. He puts out an impassioned plea to the American people to stand up to their “non-representing representatives” and the “them” that have put us in the current position of having more than 20 million illegal aliens who have just managed to worm their way into our country.

With the coming legislation for amnesty – and the fight that will ensue and which we shall win – it is more important than every to speak without fear.

They will call you racist or extremist, but the reality is that anyone who is calling for a mass amnesty – at the expense of the American people, its culture, its way of life and your standard of living that you have fought for through hard work – is the true extremist. Never forget that.

These people will keep pushing until they are confronted. Then they will run for the hills yelling “racist”. Because in the end everything they are trying to do is to gain power, control and money through exploitative practices, manipulations of the poor and a disregard for the rights of individuals in this country. When that is the sole immoral reasoning behind their actions, it should be as no surprise that all they have left to do is run away squealing like stuck pigs when they are called out.

I have absolutely no sympathy for any of their arguments and you shouldn’t either. This is a country of laws and we should start acting like it.

The Four Steps Of Ideological Subversion – How To Brainwash A Nation [Video]

In 1985 a former KGB agent, Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov, went on TV to explain how America was being subverted from within. He outlined the KGB’s four steps of Ideological Subversion.

These steps are:

  1. Demoralize
  2. Destabilization
  3. Crisis
  4. Normalization

In the video below he explains each, but I’d just like to point out that the first step was completed long ago. Demoralization – or getting people not to care about their country or to learn about it – has been ongoing in the school system at least since I was a child and probably much earlier. This entailed either not teaching kids about our civic system and how it was founded, to whitewashing it with stupid little idioms about who our founders were. Things like not explaining all that George Washington did, but merely pointing out that he had wooden false teeth or could not tell a lie and that he cut down the cherry tree and admitted it. How this has any bearing on Washington and the founding of our nation is beyond me. But ask the majority of Americans in this country and that’s pretty much all they could tell you about Washington.

Bezmenov also points out how this brainwashing works to such an extent that people refuse to accept fact, logic or reason even when it is presented to them. This is quite obvious in this day and age. It can be most obviously seen in the recent global warming fiasco where there is plenty of evidence that man-caused global warming is so infantesimal that it has no negligible impact on the world. However, even after being presented with ClimateGate and the facts that scientists were covering up true data – and in cases outright lying about it – there are still people who are so brainwashed by the decades of things like recycling, “Earth Day” and An Inconvenient Truth that they refuse to believe the real truth.

The KGB knew that all of this works on human nature – that humans once having the same idea bombarded into their head by sources they trust, that they will tend to have a very hard time changing this belief even when presented with proof until their actual life is on the line and it is too late.

Government Union Workers Destroying America – John Stossel [Video]

union jobs – and the huge increases in pay they are receiving – is destroying this country. Under the guise of being “public servants” these hard core extorting organizations are rife with corruption and demands. They threaten to shut down cities if you don’t give them money and incessantly whine that they aren’t paid enough. Yet in the video below John Stossel points out that union teachers in California (which is virtually all of them) make more than registered nurses and computer programmers. Of course you wouldn’t know that from the way they are always crying and saying that it’s “all for the children”.

Some are retiring with pensions in the hundreds of thousands paid to them each year and then getting another “public service” job. This brings some of their pay to over $500,000 a year. All, of course, because they just want to “help the public”. But these vicious thugs are nothing more than leaches on the true producers in this country and I’m not sure how much longer the American people are going to put up with it. They have a notorious history of thuggish behavior when they don’t get their way, but I wonder how thuggish they would be when confronted with the American people fighting back. Street warfare, is it coming soon?

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that the majority of these “workers” are controlled by socialist and race and gender based leaders calling for inequality in their favor. Women’s Rights groups, race based groups and just general socialists litter the playing field of “public service”. Just like Affirmative Action it is to ensure that there is no level playing field that they are fighting on, but that they receive the bulk of everything, from pay to health care to freebie vacations. All while you are driven into the dirt for not being a part of their exclusive thug club.

Heat rises on the China-U.S. relationship

CNN business correspondent Christine Romans examines the ever-complicated relationship between China and the United States of America.

By Christine Romans, CNN

(CNN) - The Chinese are mad at the Americans, mild-manned economists are bashing each other, and the heat rises on the China-U.S. relationship.

That heat has risen every day, all week since Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s uncharacteristic tongue-lashing of the United States in his annual press availability last weekend.

He blasted the U.S., its president, and its policies and warned in very clear language that we don’t want to make China our enemy. It wouldn’t be good for either country.

He’s right about the last point, but what is less clear is the path out of this mess.

The Chinese are angry that the U.S. is selling arms to Taiwan, that the president met with the Dalai Lama and that U.S. officials have urged China to let its currency rise. An artificially low yuan makes anything “Made in China” cheaper than U.S.-made goods.

Two years into a crushing recession, the political winds are blowing in the direction of anything that will help American jobs. A bill this week introduced in the Senate would slap Chinese products with tariffs as retaliation for China keeping its currency artificially low.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell told PBS anchor and Bloomberg contributor Judy Woodruff that the U.S.-China relationship began strongly under this president and has deteriorated ever since. Usually, the conflict over Taiwan and the Dalai Lama is an exercise in diplomacy: the Chinese scream, we say we have our principles, and then everyone gets over it.

This time is different. Action against China in Congress is more likely than anytime in the last four years, the Google dispute adds a new wrinkle, and, as Powell described it, the Chinese are “more stiff” in their talks and diplomacy with the U.S. than they have been in recent years.

After this difficult and uncomfortable week for the world’s most important financial marriage, Reuters is reporting that the Chinese are now trying to cool down the rhetoric and are sending a special trade envoy to Washington later this month.

Enter the dueling economists.

Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman wrote this week in the New York Times that it is time for Congress to act on China. He advocates a 25 percent surcharge on Chinese imports. He criticized the U.S. government for not taking any action and said it has spent the last six years “pretending not to see the obvious.”

Krugman on China – New York Times, March 14
“Chinese currency policy is adding materially to the world’s economic problems at a time when those problems are already very severe. It’s time to take a stand.”

A stance that infuriated Morgan Stanley economist Stephen Roach. When asked by Bloomberg Television if that demand was like taking a baseball bat to Chinese policy, Morgan Stanley’s Stephen Roach replied “we should take out the baseball bat on Paul Krugman.” He says America is lashing out on China instead of taking care of its own problems, like saving more money.

China Policy: Roach versus Krugman – Bloomberg, March 19
“We should take out the baseball bat on Paul Krugman.”

That, in effect, is where we are in China economic diplomacy. Not very diplomatic. And the spat between these two perfectly reflects the two views on China.

What’s at stake for you and me if this relationship sours? A rankled China even more emboldened to do deals with American enemies like Iran and Sudan, for one. And an article in Foreign Policy magazine makes a strong case for what happens in the U.S. if the Senate gets its way – higher prices for your iPod, your iPhone, every toy, game and piece of apparel you buy, and even potentially, your food.

Hands Off the Yuan – Foreign Policy, March 16
“If the prices of Chinese components (like fabric) and simple goods (like buttons) rise, the prices of finished products made primarily in the United States rise in turn. All that does is increase costs for American consumers.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said if he has to pay more for an iPhone, so be it. It is about returning American jobs.

After a tough week, this story is just getting started.

Jury awards white woman 1.8 million for racial discrimination

-
Better cash in while you can, white folks. In the not too distant future, white people won’t even be allowed to file racial discrimination lawsuits. Think I’m kidding? Eric Holder already told us that crimes against white people that are motivated by race don’t violate hate crime laws. Mary Frances Berry, the long time head of the United States Commission on Civil Rights, told us a long time ago that: “Civil rights laws were not passed to protect the rights of white men and do not apply to them”. Only white people are naive enough to believe that “civil rights” and “anti-discrimination” and “affirmative action” laws and regulations were passed to make sure that everyone is treated equally. What a laugh. No, they were passed to make non-whites a privileged class, and turn whites into second class citizens. Blacks and other non-whites understand this perfectly, and they’re not going to be restrained by any silly notions of “fairness” or “equality” once whites are a minority. Look at the hiring record of the mayor in this case:

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A former Bedford Heights city employee who claimed she was discriminated against by Mayor Fletcher Berger and others because of her race and disability was awarded $1.83 million in pay and damages by a federal jury on Monday.

———-

In the 20 months after Berger took office, 38 of the 41 workers the city hired in its community life department, which includes the recreation center, were African-American, Hinners said.

No free speech for white people

If you’re white, your Constitutional rights of free speech and free association are dead. They were overridden a long time ago by “civil rights” laws. In Cleveland Heights, Ohio, it’s against the law to put a For Sale sign in front of your house, because this might encourage “white flight”, etc. We just saw what happened in San Diego when some white college students attended a party that blacks don’t approve of. And now a man in Chicago is feeling the heat for expressing his opinion of racially integrated neighborhoods. His sign disapproves of them, which is illegal under “civil rights” laws.

hicago – The offensive words on Michael Corrigan’s garage are now covered up with a blue tarp, and there’s no longer a noose hanging from the corner of his garage in the Beverly neighborhood.

But on Tuesday the words, “Say no to the ghetto, White Power, Mt. Greenwood, the next Englewood,” were boldly displayed in block letters, facing the house next door that is for sale.

Our exclusive story Tuesday got people talking on Facebook and the radio, and prompted a mini-protest Wednesday morning.

“I’m telling you this is what I was, was ready to go to jail today and take that noose down,” said community activist Queen Sister, with It Takes a Village.

Wednesday when Corrigan was confronted about his display, he defended it as “yard art.”

Twenty four hours later, when FOX Chicago News knocked on Corrigan’s door to ask him why he decided to get rid of it, we got no answer.

Now he may have to answer to the Chicago Commission on Human Relations.

Investigators went to Corrigan’s house Wednesday, and are looking into whether his racist message may have intimidated African Americans from buying the home next door, in violation of civil fair housing laws.

But Michael Corrigan is not alone. He evidently speaks for a lot of people in his neighborhood:

Corrigan was praised from passers-by, many of whom honked their horns and stuck their thumbs up from their car windows.

Kenai rally a call to resist government ‘tyranny’ — with guns, if necessary

This wasn’t “tea party” type talk. America is headed for armed, bloody uprising against an oppressive federal government, or at least chaos in the wake of inevitable economic collapse, said speakers at last week’s meeting in Kenai of the Second Amendment/Constitutional Task Force. The Redoubt Reporter has an extensive account of the proceedings that featured fiery calls for the restoration of “constitutional governance” and armed resistance if it can’t be achieved through political means. About 150 people were present.

“Authority comes from being congruent from natural law, God’s law. Power comes from the barrel of a gun,” said Schaeffer Cox of Fairbanks, a leader of the Second Amendment Task Force in Alaska and co-founder of the Fairbanks-based Alaska Peacemakers Militia. “The federal government is all power and no authority. The Constitutional Congress is all authority and no power. So we’re faced with this question: Do we condone a rebellious government and become an accessory to that with our compliance, or do we come together and try to find a way to put force, put power with that authority?”

There are several types of force, Cox said – monetary force and social force, as well as “violent, deadly force.”

“My greatest fear is that they’re not going to hear us until we speak to them in their language, which is force,” Cox said. “… We would be doing a wrong, bad thing if we skipped over all those other forms of force and we jumped right to bloody force, but right now, America is headed to bloody force. If we sit on our hands until it hits the fan and it’s go time, we won’t be able to exercise that warlike force with a clear conscience. So we need to be very faithful with what’s at hand right now.

“I am not opposed to violent, bloody force. I know that is hard to say to a big group of people. It sounds kind of bad but that is something that we’ve got to reckon with. That is a duty that we have as an individual, as people who have families and friends.”

Norm Olson of Nikiski, founder of the Michigan Militia who moved to Alaska in 2005, told audience members to arm themselves against “a common threat that is coming our way.” Economic collapse is near, he said, and a local militia can help keep the peace.

“You must eventually prepare yourselves physically, materially and spiritually to endure the storm that is coming our way,” Olson said. “… You are genetic rebels. Accept the fact you are Americans, different from anybody else on this globe. Better to die on our feet than live on our knees. Better to be free people than to be under chains and servitude.”

A recurring theme at the meeting was the creation of counties in Alaska and the election of sheriffs.

“This is something I feel very strongly about, that we need to see about getting sheriffs in the state of Alaska because they are pretty much, aside from the militia, the sheriff is the one who can tell the federal government, he can tell the FBI, you have no jurisdiction unless I give it to you in my county. We don’t have that last line of defense here,” said Kathy McCubbins-Carlson of Nikiski. …

“The sheriff in his locale is the ultimate authority. Sheriffs have ordered the IRS out in certain counties. The idea that a sheriff is different than state troopers is very important. A sheriff is chosen by the people and is responsible to the people. State troopers are not,” said Bob Bird, a Nikiski High School teacher who was the event’s master of ceremonies.

The Peninsula Clarion sought out Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center for some perspective on the Kenai meeting.

Changing demographics, the economy, the idea of an African-American in the White House, multimillion dollar bonuses for bank executives, bailouts for auto companies and growing budget deficits are just a few examples of what’s fueling the fire and angering some Americans, Potok said. …

Groups like Potok’s are worried that the resurgence of militia movements will result in violent acts directed at the federal government or others.

“The danger is people like this decide, for instance, that federal law enforcement officials are enemy and end up in gunfight, or that (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) is building concentration camps,” Potok said.

Rally aiming for firearms protection — Second Amendment takes top priority for local group

By Jenny Neyman
Redoubt Reporter

“If we don’t know our rights, how can we demand them?”

Scott Hamman’s question was rhetorical among the crowd it was posed to — a group of about 55 Nikiski and other central Kenai Peninsula residents gathered at Hamman’s Metal Magic shop in North Kenai the evening of April 14. Their purpose is to bring attention to a portion of the Bill of Rights they feel is particularly under fire — the Second Amendment.

“We need this sort of effort here because we understand our right to keep and bear arms is being threatened,” said Bob Bird, a Nikiski resident, government and history teacher at Nikiski Middle-High School and unsuccessful Alaskan Independence Party candidate for former Sen. Ted Stevens’ seat in the 2008 elections. “We understand that threat is from the federal government, so we now have to ask for redress and remedy from state government.”

This is a group that is armed with knowledge as much as firearms. In the hour and a half meeting, discussion ranged from current events to the ramifications of the 1938 Federal Firearms Act, scholarly debate over the wording and intention of the Second Amendment — that it recognizes pre-existing rights granted by “Natural Law,” rather than grants rights itself — a treatise on the corrosion of the 10th Amendment, which dictates that the federal government is the agent of the states, and quotes from the Founding Fathers and ancient Greece sprinkled in to illustrate points.

Members of the Second Amendment Task Force, as the group calls itself, are out to share knowledge of the right to keep and bear arms, draw attention to their cause and gain support for their purpose — to protect that right from encroachment by the federal government, Bird said.

“To give courage to our state legislators and to let our law enforcement personnel know that we are awake and we know what our rights are. This is not an organized, 501(c)3 thing. We’re just citizens who understand we have a common purpose, and that common purpose is our right to keep and bear arms,” he said.

“This is probably one of the best causes to support because it supports our freedom. This is the place to start gaining some of that ground back,” said Marc Bisset, one of the task force volunteers.

The task force is meant to be short term and is not affiliated with a political party or any existing group, such as the National Rifle Association. The local group is an offshoot of the Second Amendment Task Force formed in Fairbanks by Schaeffer Cox, a conservative who ran unsuccessfully for the state Legislature last year. Fairbanks meetings have drawn crowds in the hundreds, and an “open carry” event April 13 drew media coverage as Rep. Don Young joined about two dozen task force members in openly displaying firearms at a Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Fairbanks.

Bird — who ran for Senate on a Constitutionalist platform that the federal government is out of line in doing anything that oversteps the bounds of the Constitution and Bill of Rights as written, or restricts any tenets therein — was invited to speak to the Fairbanks Second Amendment group.

“We all sensed that there will be a threat to our fight to keep and bear arms — a very palpable and real threat,” Bird told the Nikiski group.

He said that, in his perspective, the formation of the local group was not a direct response to the election of President Barack Obama, which sparked a run of gun and ammunition sales locally and nationwide from people who feared the new administration would pursue restrictions on gun ownership. Bird said the threat against Second Amendment rights, and erosion of states’ rights in general, has been ongoing for several presidential administrations and had reached a crisis level.

“It’s not fantasy or paranoia,” said Phil Morin, of Kenai, who also teaches at Nikiski Middle-High School. “… Seriously, this is reality. Not saying anything has gotten us where we are today, and we’re all culpable in this by not saying, ‘No, you’re a public servant, and I’m your boss.’”

Bird said he recognizes that guns have been used for ill purposes, but argues that it should be up to individual states to set gun control laws as they deem necessary, not the federal government.

“A gun is a tool and can be used like a hammer in an evil way, that’s true. Guns are tools and we as a society have different cultures. … The idea that one size fits all in a nation of this enormous scope — these things have to come to an end,” Bird said.

The central peninsula Second Amendment Task Force is planning a public rally at 7 p.m. April 28 at the Soldotna Sports Center to bring attention to its cause, part of which is to encourage and support state lawmakers in rejecting any federal gun control measures that may come about. Local lawmakers and representatives of law enforcement agencies will be invited and given questions to answer, such as — if there’s a natural disaster on the peninsula like Hurricane Katrina, will law enforcement attempt to disarm citizens? And, if someone carrying a concealed weapon is pulled over, what should they say to inform the officer about the weapon?

The local group is revising a statement of purpose from the Fairbanks group that asks for protection of the “Natural Law right to self-defense through our state legislature” from “any and all infringements by the federal government to license, confiscate, tax, register, restrict or otherwise remove from us our lawful arms and ammunition.”

Should this right be violated, the statement continues, “it will be the duty of said public servants, as well as the good and faithful people of Alaska, to not obey or yield to such violations” and “that any person who, in lawful practice of their right to keep and bear arms, is victimized by unlawful efforts to violate the Natural Law right of self-defense, should be given material and spiritual assistance by the good inhabitants of Alaska. …”

Bird was asked to clarify what actions that passage requests. He said it could mean anything from helping hire legal counsel to defend someone arrested for violating a federal gun control law, praying for someone in that situation or showing up outside the jail or courthouse to protest.

He said he was pleased with the turnout the task force’s three local meetings have had so far, with about 45 people at the first meeting, 35 at the second and 55 at the April 14 meeting. There will be one more planning meeting at 7 p.m. April 21 at Metal Magic, which is open to the public, before the rally on April 28. Bird said he also hopes for good attendance there.

“Alaskans are pretty well united when it comes to defending their right to bear arms. They do realize that I can go berry picking and get mauled by a bear. Or walk in my neighborhood and get stomped by a moose,” Bird said.

“We can’t change the federal government. We have tried and they are ignoring their obligation to the Constitution. So as liberty-loving citizens, and I love peace, too, but I’m not a pacifist, it’s time to go to my next safety net, and that’s my friends and neighbors here in Alaska, and legislators and so forth.”

19-Mar-10 News – Greece delivers ultimatum to Europe

Greece delivers an ultimatum to Europe

The European finance drama took some additional amusing turns on Thursday, as various officials scrambled to avoid making a decision, and to save their own political skins.

The most dramatic moment of the day came at a press conference in Brussels given by Greece’s Prime Minister George Papandreou at which, according to Reuters, he issued what amounts to an ultimatum to the European Union to come up with a clear offer of standby loans next week or face the embarrassment of Athens asking the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for help.

“But I would prefer the European solution. I would prefer the European solution as part of the euro zone, as a European,” he said.

I’m trying to think of an analogy that would convey exactly why this is a big threat, and the only thing I can come with is California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announcing that he would ask China for financial help unless Washington bailed out California within one week, adding, “But I would prefer an American solution, as an American.”

No European country has ever gotten help from the IMF, and there’s a strong aversion to seeking help from the Washington-based foundation. ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and former EC president Jean-Claude Juncker, have said that asking the IMF for help would show that the EU can’t solve its own problems.

However, Sarkozy, Trichet and Juncker don’t want their respective countries to bail out Greece. They want Germany to bail out Greece. That would be their idea of the EU solving its own problems.

And that’s why German Chancellor Angela Merkel has changed her mind on this issue, according to Bloomberg, saying that Merkel now wants the IMF to bail out Greece.

But wait — Greece doesn’t actually want a bailout, from either the EU or the IMF, according to Reuters. He’s complaining that the cost of borrowing money is too high, because speculators are pushing up yields (interest rates) on Greek bonds. So he’d like regulators to control speculators, which is a laughable goal. And he’d like the EU to supply not aid, but the PROMISE of aid. He claims that if the EU commits to bailing out Greece in the future as a last resort, then the commitment will never have to be honored, since speculators will be discouraged from speculated on Greek bonds.

But wait — does that actually work? The WSJ says that Papandreou’s strategy could actually backfire:

“Message to George Papandreou: Silence is golden. Thursday, the Greek prime minister called on European leaders to agree next week to a package of standby loans to buy his country breathing space on reform. But every time Mr. Papandreou opens his mouth to complain about the lack of European Union support for his country, or hints that he might go to the International Monetary Fund for aid instead, he actually makes the job of financing his country’s deficit more difficult.Mr. Papandreou’s fear is that high borrowing costs will dilute the impact of the harsh budget measures already announced. That is a legitimate fear. But by talking so much about the need for support to bring borrowing costs down, he risks bringing about the very thing he most fears by raising in investors’ minds the idea that Greece has a problem with market access—when it clearly doesn’t.”

You know, Dear Reader, I keep writing about this Greek crisis almost every day, because it’s always different every day. One gets the feeling of a Laurel and Hardy comedy, with a new scene every day, each one funnier than the last.

For some reason, what Greece is going through with France and the others reminds of the lyrics of Teresa Brewer’s great song, Let Me Go Lover: “You don’t want me, but you want me, to go on wanting you. How I pray that you will say that we’re through.”

So, for today’s entertainment, here’s a video of still pictures of Teresa Brewer, with accompanying her great recording:

I can’t end this report without mentioning that, despite all the laughter, this is a very serious situation. The reason that it seems like a bad comedy is because there’s no solution. Greece, and Europe in general, are headed for a devastating financial crisis, and no one has any idea how to prevent it.

Greenspan says that Fed didn’t cause the housing bubble

On Thursday, former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan gave a 48-page speech (PDF) at the Brookings Institution, describing the causes of the financial crisis.

In a summary by the NY Times, Greenspan is quoted as saying: “We had been lulled into a sense of complacency by the only modestly negative economic aftermaths of the stock market crash of 1987 and the dot-com boom. Given history, we believed that any declines in home prices would be gradual. Destabilizing debt problems were not perceived to arise under those conditions.”

Of course, I’ve discussed the false panic of 1987 many times. The stock market was underpriced at that time, and that’s why the effects were modest. (See “System Dynamics and the Failure of Macroeconomics Theory.”)

Greenspan also denied that the Fed’s low interest rates did not cause the housing bubble. He said, “The global house price bubble was a consequence of lower interest rates, but it was long-term interest rates that galvanized home asset prices, not the overnight rates of central banks, as has become the seemingly conventional wisdom.”

As I’ve explained many times on this web site, interest rates had nothing to do with the housing bubble. The housing bubble began around the world in the mid-1990s, just as the risk-averse survivors of the Great Depression were all disappearing (retiring or dying). The Boomers and Gen-Xers that were then in charge practiced debauched and depraved forms of credit abuse that caused not only the housing bubble, but the credit bubble. (See “The housing bubble began in 1995″ and “The global housing bubble began in the mid-1990s.”)

18-Mar-10 News – Euro sniping over finances
The FBI reveals a new online scam

Euro-sniping grows, as Greece financial situation flounders

“There was no Greek bailout deal on Monday – Eurogroup statement was essentially a lie,” said EuroIntelligence. “We are wondering how long it can go on for – that political leaders pretend there to be an agreement in principle over a bailout of Greece, while in reality there no agreement at all. The financial markets still seem to believe that a deal has been brokered on Monday, but the news we are getting suggests the very opposite.” The article concludes, “Germany only favours a bailout that is not really a bailout.”

It’s true that there’s no bailout going on, but there’s plenty of sniping going on over the non-bailout. And as the last sentence of the preceding paragraph hints, Germany is increasingly becoming both the sniper and the target of the sniping.

Germany is at the center of all the bailout discussion for two reasons:

  • Germany has the biggest economy in Europe, and many consider it to have the strongest economy, so everyone would look to Germany to be the biggest donor in case of a bailout.
  • Germany is a country of savers, and thus exports most of its manufactured goods. Some people are claiming that Germany is harming the rest of Europe by exporting so many goods that other companies are unable to grow their own economies, and therefore that Germany should help the rest of Europe by spending more, and consuming more of its own goods.

As I reported on Monday, tension is growing between France and Germany over a bailout. French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde has urged Germany to cut its trade surplus, something that the Germans are calling “Germany-bashing.”

Lagarde’s attack has caused Britain to join in the fun. Lombard Street Research’s Charles Dumas says the following in a note quoted by FT Alphaville, accompanied by a chart that shows that Germany has the second lowest GDP growth of major countries since 2001:

“The comic aspect of the attempts by Germany to make the rest of Europe converge on German practice is that the German economic performance has been dismal. What is now being enforced is that nobody else in the Eurozone – or its irrational aspirant members – is to be allowed any growth either. Europe is being forced into a German lowest common denominator. The question Mme. Lagarde is rightly asking is: how much longer do we have to put up with being lectured by this bunch of policy failures? The chart above shows real GDP growth from the end of the last recession. …

Why does Germany depend for its demand on other people’s readiness to run up debts? Because its own spending is crushed by budget-balancing. GDP growth over the recent cycle may have been pathetic, but consumer spending growth is worse: non-existent. Now, not least because of EMU-driven measures, other people will not be running up debt. Germany will do even worse than before. And yet we are all expected to take their policy views seriously!”

Now the German magazine Der Spiegel is striking back:

“Greece’s budget deficit is impossibly high. But Great Britain’s is even higher. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has his work cut out for him in this election year — and the coming cuts will be painful. …The British pound is tottering. The economy finds itself in its worst crisis since 1931, and the country came within a hair’s breadth of a deep recession. Speculators are betting against an upturn. Instability in the banking sector has had a more severe impact on government finances in Great Britain than in other industrialized countries. London’s budget deficit will amount to £186 billion (€205 billion, or $280 billion) this year — fully 12.9 percent of gross domestic product. …

The country that was once referred to as “Cool Britannia” is in a serious crisis, with a hole in its budget even bigger than Greece’s budget deficit, now at 12.2 percent. And nobody knows how to fix the problem.”

The growing sniping is appearing more and more like a race to the bottom, and with good reason: Nobody knows how to fix ANY of the problems facing Europe right now.

And a crunch is approaching quickly. Here’s a list from Der Spiegel of the value of bonds due from the “P.I.I.G.S.” countries by the end of May, in billions of euros:

    Italy 70.0
    Spain 32.5
    Greece 20.5
    Portugal 12.8
    Ireland 7.2

These are huge amounts of money that have to be paid by these countries to prevent bond defaults. The countries will have to borrow the money to to meet these payments, and they’ll be competing with one another for investors’ money.

The article quotes Dominique Strauss-Kahn, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as saying, “We have countries with huge deficits, the US for example, but also several European countries. They need to save more, having less domestic consumption to rely more on exports.” But he added that in countries with large current account surpluses, such as China and Germany, “it has to go the other way round: Domestic demand has to go up with more consumption and investment.”

That’s a nice formula, but it’s exactly the kind of thing that Generational Dynamics says can’t work. The U.S. people were savers in the 1920s and 1930s, but it didn’t do them any good in the Great Depression, so they became spenders after the war. Meanwhile, Germany was a spending nation, and they had catastrophic bank failures in 1931 and 1932, leading to Naziism, and so they became a saving nation after the war. So now we’re to expect a speech by the head of the IMF to change all these things around. It doesn’t work that way.

As for Greece itself, Harvard University Professor Martin Feldstein says that Greece’s austerity plan will fail and the country may quit the single currency to fix its fiscal crisis, according to Bloomberg. “The idea that Greece can go from a 12 percent deficit now to a 3 percent deficit two years from now seems fantasy. The alternatives are to default in some way or to leave, or both.”

From the point of view of Generational Dynamics, what has to happen is a major panic and financial crisis. I’ve come to believe that the panic is just as likely to start in Europe or in China as on Wall Street. Nobody knows what will trigger a panic, but with all the sniping and finger-pointing going on in Europe, it could start there at any time. And then it will spread to the U.S. faster than you can say Jack Robinson.

The FBI reveals a new online scam

The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is reporting sharply increased online crime, according to Fierce CIO.

A new scam that’s becoming more widespread works as follows: You receive a request to participate in a survey about the status of employee/employer relationships in a tough economy. You are asked to submit a pay stub to prove your place of employment. The scammers then use the pay stub to get into the employer’s bank account by means of fake checks.

However, the biggest scams are still occurring through Facebook, by means of powerful data mining techniques, according to the NY Times. The article points out that “Computer scientists and policy experts say that … seemingly innocuous bits of self-revelation can increasingly be collected and reassembled by computers to help create a picture of a person’s identity, sometimes down to the Social Security number.”

Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) gives award for Generational Dynamics
This provides further expert validation of generational theory.

On Tuesday, I received word that Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) will award me as one of six winners (out of 160 submissions) of its 2010 Leading Edge Forum Papers program.

The particular paper that I submitted last year for the 2010 competition is the following:

“International business forecasting using System Dynamics with generational flows.”

This paper brings several articles together in one place and updates many other materials from this web site, including the application of Systems Dynamics and Chaos Theory, and the history and basics of generational theory. It shows how Generational Dynamics can be used by commercial and government organizations to forecast developments in foreign countries.

This award is significant because it’s the first time that a body of experts have performed a scholarly review of Generational Dynamics for validity. There were over 100 experts from numerous fields evaluating the 160 entries, and the fact that mine was chosen as a winner indicates that these 100 judges find Generational Dynamics valid enough to pursue and publicize.

This award comes at a time when the documentary movie “Generation Zero” is about to open in movie theatres. This movie is based on the Generational Dynamics theory.

(See “The politics of the ‘Generation Zero’ documentary movie” and “New documentary movie ‘Generation Zero’ brings generational theory to the public.”)

The combination of the CSC award and the recognition from “Generation Zero” does a lot to advance generational theory and Generational Dynamics.

16-Mar-10 News – Historic Israeli-US ties deteriorate
A bailout of Greece may or may not be near

Author Michael Lewis pins the blame for the financial crisis

I quoted Michael Lewis in an article I posted a year ago. (See “Stories of massive generational fraud and corruption continue to pour out.”)

Michael Lewis is now out with a new book, “The Big Short,” describing the the people who made money from the financial crisis, while millions of others had their life savings destroyed. He appeared on the TV show 60 Minutes on Sunday evening, but what I found more interesting was an interview that was broadcast on Bloomberg TV on Monday.

Lewis was asked whom he blamed for the financial crisis, and here’s what he said (my transcription):

“If I had to put my finger on one person, or one kind of person, one role player in this crisis who I would like to string up, rather, I would like to to have him answer questiosn homnestly to the public, I think it would be [[pauses for several seconds]] the people who I know who knew better.I would like for the people who designed synthetic CDOs at Goldman Sachs and persuaded AIG to insure them, to essentially take all the risk in the subprime mortgage market in 2005. I would like for them to explain what they thought they were doing.

There was nothing illegal about what they did, it was just exploitative, it was wrong but they were smart enough and their position in the society was elevated enough that you would have thought that they would have paused and said I have some responsibility not to do this, or to prevent this from happening, not actually make it happen.

I hold, there’s a very obvious status structure on Wall Street, ratings agencies aren’t even in it, but at the very top of the status structure is Goldman Sachs, certain traders at Goldman Sachs, and hedge funds. when the people at the top set such a bad example, everything else in a weird way follows from it.

I would like the genuine elites to explain why they behaved in the way they did it because I think in the end, if you are going to get back to a saner our relationship between our financial system and the rest of the economy, the rest of the society. you have to have people at the very top of that structure who have some sense of social obligation. They do not right now.”

Even though I don’t agree with some of the things he says, I think this is very intriguing.

He paused for several seconds and chose his words carefully, probably because he doesn’t want to get sued, but he finally placed the blame as follows: “I would like for the people who designed synthetic CDOs at Goldman Sachs and persuaded AIG to ensure them, to essentially take all the risk in the subprime mortgage market in 2005.”

Presumably he’s talking about the Gen-Xers who designed the CDOs that later turned out to be “toxic assets,” and he blames the Boomer bosses who helped sell them to AIG. As I’ve said many times, the financial crisis could not have been perpetrated by Gen-Xers alone, or by Boomers alone; the unique features of both generations, working in unison, were required to perpetrate these crimes.

He says that they’re NOT crimes, that Goldman Sachs did nothing illegal, but that they should have to explain why they did it.

And yet, Lewis is describing a crime of securities fraud. He’s clearly implying that the people who designed the CDOs knew they were defective (or why would any explanation now be required?), and he explicitly says that the people who knew this then went on to persuade AIG to insure them. Well, if the people at Goldman Sachs knew they were defective, then they must have lied to the people at AIG to persuade AIG to insure them, and that would be fraud.

So Lewis is saying indirectly that the people at Goldman Sachs were comitting fraud in 2005.

But wait a minute. Were the people at AIG idiots? Were they neophytes? If the people at Goldman knew that the CDOs were defective, then surely the brainy people at AIG must have figured it out as well. So why did they agree to insure the defective CDOs?

Well of course that answer is obvious. The people at AIG knew that the CDOs were defective, but they didn’t give a sh-t. They insured them in order to collect fat commissions and million dollar bonuses, knowing that when the insurance had to be paid off, it would be someone else’s problem.

And what makes me furious at Lewis, as well as all the other bloggers and reporters who write about this stuff, is that they’re soooooooo anxious to allow these crooks to get off the hook. It’s perfectly obvious, by Lewis’ own reporting, that the people at Goldman Sachs and AIG committed crimes, but the only “punishment” that Lewis would want to inflict is to ask them to, uhhhhhh, “explain what they thought they were doing.”

Somewhere in the 60 Minutes interview, I heard Lewis complain that regulators were too taken in by elites at Goldman Sachs, and so they didn’t do their jobs. Well, it’s hypocritical of Lewis to make that complaint, since he’s as bad as the regulators were. In fact, Lewis is worse, since he has five years of retrospective reporting to look at, and he’s still being played for a fool.

Here are a couple of final points. I knew nothing about mortgage-backed CDOs in 2005. I first wrote about how they worked early in 2008 in “A primer on financial engineering and structured finance.”

However, in 2005, I did know that we were in a housing bubble that would crash, and I said so many times. I also quoted Alan Greenspan and others saying much the same thing. That fact that we were in a housing bubble that was going to collapse meant that all the CDO computer models were wrong, and the people at Goldman Sachs and AIG must have known, or should have known, that the computer models were wrong, and that therefore the CDOs were defective.

Today, in 2010, we’re still in a bubble. I’ve said it many times, and I’ve quoted people like Niall Ferguson and Elizabeth Warren who have also said so, though in different ways. And exactly the same kinds of illegal practices are going on today, being perpetrated by exactly the same people, who are still making fat commissions and bonuses by screwing ordinary investors, who are going to lose everything when the bubble collapses.

Tension grows between France and Germany over Greece bailout

Greek debt maturing in 2010, by month (Source: wsj.com)

According to leaked information published in the Austrian newspaper Der Kurier, summarized by EuroIntelligence, Germany and France have agreed that a 55 billion euro bailout of Greece will be needed by the end of 2010, that Germany would contribute 20 billion euros, France would contribute 10 billion euros, and other countries, except those that are in trouble (Spain, Portugal and the UK) would contribute according to their ability.

This agreement will be put to the test very quickly, as the graph shows that some 20 billion euros of debt payments will be due in April and May.

June 2005: Jean-Claude Juncker, Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac
June 2005: Jean-Claude Juncker, Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac

Since Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has said many times that there would be no bailout of Greece, it’s not surprising the strains are showing already, in the form of what the Germany magazine Der Spiegel describes as “Germany-bashing.” According to the article, ” French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde has urged Germany to rein in its trade surplus, arguing that its export strength is hurting weaker economies. The German government is bracing itself for a fight.”

I can’t resist bringing back one of my favorite pictures from the past — the photos from June, 2005, in the article “Acrimonious European Union summit ends in crisis,” of Jean-Claude Juncker, Tony Blair, and Jacques Chirac. At that time, the argument was over agricultural subsidies for France — France wanted more of them, and Britain wanted less of them. In the end, about six months later, Tony Blair caved in to Chirac, in order to end the dispute.

This bailout of Greece situation looks like it might be equally contentious. 55 billion euros is a lot of money, and everybody is hopin’ and prayin’ that the new stock market bubble is going to continue growing, and will not burst. If that turns out to be wrong in 2010, and the chances are that it will be, then there’s going to be a lot more acrimony.

Warning: Your bank won’t protect you from online banking fraud

In a recent survey, 55% of small businesses reported experiencing fraud in the last year, with 58% of the fraud enabled by online banking activities, according to Dark Reading.

Many small businesses assume that banks will restore funds that are lost in through online hacking of the banks’ online banking sites, but that’s not true, according to the survey. It found that 57% of the respondents that have experienced a fraud attack were not fully compensated by their banks, and 26% were not compensated at all.

This comes at a time when banks are pushing their credit card customers very hard to agree to cut off paper statements, and require the customers to go online each month to get a “paperless statement.” This supposedly “saves the environment,” as the wonderfully civic-minded folks at the bank might say, but it also removes a monthly reminder to pay your credit card bill, and makes it more likely that the bank will have an excuse to raise your interest rate to 30% so that they’ll have more money to pay themselves million dollar bonuses.

Now, thanks to this survey on online banking fraud, there’s an even more important reason not to end your paper statements.

Israeli-US ties continue to deteriorate over settlement issue

The issue of new Jewish settlements in the West Bank is turning more into a bitter dispute between Israel and its Western allies.

America’s unwavering support for Israel comes out of a cultural contradiction in the country’s ideals, early in the 20th century. America was supposed to embrace the ideal of religious equality, but in fact America was really a Protestant nation, as I explained several years ago in “President George Bush talks about a ‘Third Awakening,’ but he has his history wrong.”

However, Protestants, Catholics and Jews became united against their common enemy, Communism, after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. And then, after WW II, America and many other countries supported the creation of Israel in 1948, after becoming aware of the horrors of the Holocaust.

But now the London Times is saying that, for the first time, Israel’s value as a strategic ally is being questioned by America. The article quotes General David Petraeus as openly questioning Israel’s value as a strategic ally, because the failure to achieve an Arab-Israeli peace deal is the best recruiting tool for militant Islamists.

From the point of view of Generational Dynamics, this analysis is completely wrong, of course. Militant Islamist terrorism would be growing with or without an Arab-Israeli peace deal, and relations between Arabs and Jews would be deteriorating just as surely (and probably more swiftly) if Israel were not America’s ally.

Nonetheless, America’s support of Israel, no matter how irrelevant, has become a convenient target of blame for many of the problems of the world, and that’s likely to get only worse.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly rejected any curbs on West Bank settlements. Reuters quotes him as telling the Knesset: “For the past 40 years, no Israeli government ever limited construction in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem,” referring to areas of Jerusalem that Israel captured in the 1967 war. This statement is an open rejection of the Obama administration’s demands.

The Obama administration has now been publicly humiliated two or three times over Israel’s settlement issue, and the Palestinians are now firmly refusing to talk with the Israelis unless the settlements are canceled. The Israelis are saying, just as firmly, that the settlements are going to proceed.

Generational Dynamics predicts that there will be a major new Mideast war re-fighting the 1948-49 war between Jews and Arabs that followed the partitioning of Palestine, and the creation of the state of Israel. There will be no peace agreement.

15-Mar-10 News – Georgians panic over mock TV war report
Taliban claims credits for bombings in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Taliban steps up bombings, and Nato and Pakistan army step up counter-insurgency

As Nato’s “surge” strategy continues in Afghanistan, Taliban terrorists set off a series of bombs Saturday in Kandahar, the spiritual home of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Dozens were killed and wounded, including 13 police offices and 22 civilians. The Taliban have taken credit, and a spokeman says the attacks are a warning to the Nato forces, according to The Telegraph.

As we’ve said in the past, an important difference between the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war is the tribal area of Pakistan, on the border with Afghanistan. In Iraq, al-Qaeda linked suicide bombers are far from their base, but in Afghanistan, Kandahar is close to the tribal area, which is the stronghold for hundreds of Taliban terrorists.

In the last year, the Pakistan army has been cooperating with the Nato forces in Afghanistan by targeting terrorist hideouts in the tribal, and at least 18 Taliban were killed on Sunday, when fighter jets bombed their hideouts, according to Pakistan’s Daily Times.

However, the Taliban have also been stepping up their terrorist activitites. The Taliban have claimed credit for Lahore suicide bombings that we reported on Friday, as well as a Saturday suicide bombing in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.

If you listen to pundits and politicians about all this, then you get various mixed messages. Some of them blame all the Taliban terrorist activity on Nato, especially Americans, even claiming that if the Americans would only go home, then all terrorist activity would cease. Others claim that increased activity by the Pakistan army would rid the region of Taliban terrorists.

All of these views overlook the generational angle. There is a whole new generation of young Sunni Muslim Pashtuns who are being influenced by al-Qaeda linked clerics to become jihadists. These young people will continue to turn in that direction whether the Americans are there or not, and they will increase in number faster than the Pakistan army can bomb their hideouts.

See last September’s report, “American army general warns of imminent defeat in Afghanistan war,” for a more complete analysis.

Fake TV report on new Russia-Georgia war panics Georgians

In a world where people are always doing something stupid, this is one of the stupidest stunts I’ve seen in a while.

Recall that in 2008, a bitter conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia led to a Russian invasion of Georgia.

On Saturday evening, a TV show in Georgia ran a half-hour spoof news show, supposedly portraying events that would occur in three months, on June 7, 2010, according to the Georgian Times. Using 2008 footage, the show portrayed a new Russian invasion, leading to the assassination of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

The fake news story began with a brief announcement, quoted by Civil Georgia: “We want to offer you a simulated, special bulletin…. Our viewers and invited guest [in Special Report program's studio] will see a news bulletin of probably the toughest day for Georgia, which take into view those threats which politicians and experts are discussing regularly; [a news bulletin about] how events may develop if the society is not consolidated against Russia’s plans. Let’s see the news bulletin about the worst future.”

However, most viewers missed this opening announcement, and there was widespread panic in Georgia, with people running from their homes, especially near the South Ossetian border, among people fearing that a new Russian invasion was actually taking place.

The fake news story is spurring controversy throughout Georgia and Russia for many reasons, not least of which is that there is some question as to whether President Saakashvili himself authorized the spoof, or at least was aware of it in advance.

Indeed, Saakashvili is quoted by Civil Georgia as saying, “But the major unpleasant thing about the yesterday’s report – and I want everyone to realize it well – was that this report is maximally close to reality and maximally close to what may really happen, or to what Georgia’s enemy keeps in mind.”

Here’s a a video from Russia Today. It contains some video from the fake report, as well as a discussion that’s critical of Saakashvili.

From the point of view of Generational Dynamics, there were some interesting things about the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia. The main thing is that it was perfectly clear that the Russians and the Georgians do not hate each other. This should not be surprising, since the great genocidal Soviet dictator Josef Stalin was Georgian, and it certainly became very clear as the war progressed.

The other important thing is that the Georgians and the Ossetians DO hate each other, and each would like nothing so much as to help exterminate the other.

Thus, I’ve never really blamed the Russian strategy in invading Georgia in 2008, although many in the West do. The Caucasus region has historically been the theatre of many huge ethnic and religious genocidal wars, especially between Muslims and Orthodox Christians. When the conflict between Georgia and the Ossetians broke out, the Russians felt obligated to prevent it from spiraling out of control.

Nonetheless, even if the Russians and Georgians do not hate each other, they don’t trust each other either, and the fake news story incident only highlights the distrust.

All sides jockey for position in Greece bailout question

Greece will present its new austerity measures to Eurogroup finance ministers at a meeting in Brussels on Monday, in the hope of getting bailed out. However, everyone’s playing it cool, real cool.

Thus, AP reports that Greece does not really want money from the EU, just political support.

But German Interior Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble was quoted by Reuters as saying that “there is no reason to take decisions on financial aid on Monday.”

Greek debt maturing in 2010, by month <font size=-2>(Source: wsj.com)</font>

And French Economy Minister Christine Lagarde is quoted as saying, “I’m certainly not expecting any decision being made, or any button being pressed, or any button being selected to be pressed, because it’s totally premature.”

And yet, there isn’t a snowflake’s chance in hell that Greece will be able to meet its 20 billion euros of debt payments due in April and May, without some kind of bailout.

U.S. Productivity Gains Misleading

U.S. Productivity Gains Misleading

While data shows that American productivity has increased exponentially in the past three decades, that is nothing more than a façade given that most of those production gains are driven by offshoring, according to two fair trade advocates.

Writing in The New York Times, Alan Tonelson and Kevin Kearns, members of the U.S. Business and Industry Council, claim that for years the U.S. Labor Department has been leading the American people to believe that the productivity of its workers has been skyrocketing.

The problem is, the Labor Department fails to differentiate between American and foreign workers when calculating productivity.

“Labor productivity figures, which are calculated by the Labor Department, count only worker hours in America, even though American-owned factories and labs have been steadily transplanted overseas, and foreign workers have contributed significantly to the final products counted in productivity measures,” they write.

According to the U.S. Labor Department, from 1980 to 2009, the productivity of the American worker increased by 40 percent.

The “grossly overstated,” productivity gains have provided free trade proponents with ammunition.  Claiming productivity gains are a result of greater efficiency and technological advancements, they have hailed free trade as the reason for greater output among American workers.  However, that is simply not the case.

“Above all, if offshoring has been driving much of our supposed productivity gains, then the case for complete free trade begins to erode,” they write.  “If often such policies simply increase corporate profits at the expense of American workers, with no gains in true productivity, then they don’t necessarily strengthen the national economy.”

A recent research paper by the Federal Reserve found as much.  It found that, as productivity continues to grow through cost containment policies – outsourcing – the unemployment rate will continue to rise.

“Anecdotal evidence suggests that efforts to contain costs and remain nimble in the face of uncertainty have become a fixture in business strategy,” the paper said. “If productivity keeps on growing at an above-average pace, then unemployment forecasts…could continue to be overly optimistic.”

The only way to fix the problem is to overhaul America’s fail trade policies and restore the nation’s once-proud manufacturing base, which is responsible for many of the nation’s technological gains and increased efficiency.  To do that, America must combat currency manipulation by economic competitors and the effects of the value-added tax, utilized by over 150 of America’s trading partners, but not America.

“Manufacturing, long slighted by free-market extremists, needs to be promoted, not pushed offshore, since it has historically accounted for the bulk of research and development spending and employs the bulk of American science and technology workers — who in turn spur further innovation and real productivity,” they write.

Hispanic Sex Offenders Listed As “White” In Wisconsin. Why?

Hispanic Sex Offenders Listed As “White” In Wisconsin. Why?

By Simon Krejsa

On August 19, 2003, two Mexican farm laborers, possibly illegal aliens, committed arguably the most heinous crime in the history of Wisconsin’s Green Bay. They abducted a 26-year-old woman from the parking lot of a Main Street nightclub, drove many miles to a remote area in another county, repeatedly gang-raped her, then doused her with lighter fluid and set her on fire.

“The woman testified she heard her attackers ‘laugh, get in the truck, and leave.’” Fortunately or unfortunately, she survived but with “burns on 61% of her body”, including her face. She will be grotesquely disfigured for life. She also “suffered” and survived, “respiratory failure”. [Man Enters Pleas In Kidnapping, Rape, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, April 7, 2005]

In non-diverse Green Bay, the victim, then a mother of two young children, can be assumed to be white, although of course the politically correct Wisconsin newspapers didn’t say.

The two monsters: Gregario Morales, then 27 with a wife and three children, and Juan Nieto, 24, apparently the more vicious of the two and rumored to have possibly committed a similar rape/burning in Arizona. Morales was offered a plea bargain in exchange for his testimony against Nieto.

Their crime was featured on Fox TV’s America’s Most Wanted, which resulted in Nieto’s arrest in December 2004. But otherwise it received no national coverage.

Morales had been apprehended a few months earlier in Dexter, NM. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison in 2005 and is now living at Waupun Correctional Institution, the state’s first prison, built in 1852. Nieto was sentenced to 70 years in prison and is now incarcerated at Columbia Correctional Institution, a maximum-security prison in Portage in Southwestern Wisconsin.

I suggest that readers look at Morales and Nieto on Wisconsin’s sex offender registry. Morales is clearly a mestizo. Nieto is a pure (or almost pure) Amerindian. He could have worked as an “extra” in Mel Gibson’s movie Apocalypto. And given Morales’ wiry hair and Neito’s dark skin, duskier than Obama’s, it’s possible that one or both of them could be 5-10% black. As Steve Sailer has noted, the average Mexican is 5% black.

Gregario Morales

Juan Nieto

But according to the registry, both are “white”.

Then do a generic search for offenders with common “Hispanic”/Spanish surnames -e.g., Lopez, Garcia, Hernandez, Rodriguez, Gonzales, Martinez, etc.- and marvel at all the mestizos, pure or almost pure Amerindians, zambos” (a mixture of black and Amerindian), mulattos, and even blacks who are defined as “white”!

[VDARE.COM NOTE: Readers who are uncomfortable with all this physical anthropology stuff should be aware that these men all have an official racial government classification placed on their Sex Offender registry records by the State Of Wisconsin. The purpose of this is to provide a physical description in case they escape. It’s just factually inaccurate, and thus totally unhelpful to Americans.]

I searched for the 10 most common “Hispanic” surnames plus several others, including Villa, Zapata, and Castro. The results: Martinez: 78 registrants; Rodriguez 75; Garcia 69; Hernandez, 52; Lopez, 47; Perez, 47; Ramirez, 44; Torres, 38; Mora, 38; Sanchez, 34; Gonzalez, 26; Morales, 26; Rivera, 26; Gomez, 24; Diaz, 21; Ortiz, 20; Villa, 18, Mendoza, 17; Vargas, 16; Gutierrez, 14; Santiago, 11; Jimenez, 9; Chavez, 9; Silva, 8; Castro, 7, Calderon, Munoz, Rojas, and Huerta, all 5; and Zapata, 2.

This in Wisconsin—land of Germans and Scandinavians.

And my search was not definitive. So there are probably over a thousand “Hispanics” in Wisconsin’s sex offender registry, either incarcerated or supervised.

I opened the pages and saw the mug-shots of some 50-60 “Hispanic” sex offenders, all defined as “white”, although very few were of pure Spanish descent. Most were mestizos, usually with their Indian genes dominant, and a large minority were pure Amerindians, “zambos”, mulattos, or of pure or almost pure African descent.

For example:

Marcelino Rivera

Look at Marcelino Rivera, a black man with a huge “Afro”, convicted of first-degree sexual assault. Take a look at Juan Villegas, alias Audelett Lopez, another black man convicted of first-degree sexual assault.

Juan Villegas

Look at Heriberto Rivera, another black defined as “white” and convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Heriberto Rivera

Behold Mario Lopez, either a mulatto or a zambo with African genes dominant. And Francisco Lopez, who is a pure (or almost pure) Amerindian.

Check out Hector Martinez who, with his “kinky” hair and medium-brown skin, is either a mulatto or “zambo”.

Hector Martinez

Look at Artemio Rodriguez, a pure Amerindian or possibly a mixture of African and Amerindian. Behold Alberto Chavez, who is either a “zambo” or pure Amerindian. Gaze upon Heriberto Gonzales, also either a mulatto or “zambo”. One Alvaro Garcia is clearly an Indian-black mixture. One Hector Sanchez appears to be of both African and Amerindian descent.

And I looked at no more than 4-5% of perhaps 1100-1200 mug-shots. Looking at all or most of them would surely uncover many dozens of similarly bizarre and ludicrous examples of “white” Hispanics.

Why would bureaucrats define the likes of Morales and Nieto and all other nonwhites with Spanish surnames as “white” when anyone who visits the registry and looks at the mug-shots will see mestizos, Amerindians, “zambos”, mulattos, and blacks—the faces of men who look like Pancho Villa, Zapata, Cesar Chavez, Hugo Chavez, George Lopez, Ozzie Guillen, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, Albert Pujols, Sammy Sosa?

The only plausible explanation: nonwhite “Hispanics” who commit sex offenses and other felonies are classified as “white” under Dept. of Correction statistic—and, consequently, they must also be defined as “white” on the sex offender registry.

Even Politically Correct bureaucrats cannot lie and deceive when vivid and scary images are available of “white” sex criminals who are glaringly nonwhite. But they can can, with false definitions and resultant bogus numbers, whose purpose is to minimize and obscure the crime rates of nonwhite “Latinos” while inflating those of European Americans.

In the case of sex offenders, as opposed to “Latino” criminals generally, virtually all those defined as “white” can be seen and identified as nonwhite just by visiting the sex offender registry and looking at mug-shots. But few people will do this. And, without mass protests and demands for racially honest designations, the statistics won’t be rectified.

Thus, statistically, the most heinous crime in the history of Green Bay was committed by two “white men”. And, collectively, whites are guilty of thousands of sex crimes and other felonies just in Wisconsin that were actually committed by nonwhite “Hispanics”.

Just as importantly, such tricks also minimize the crime rates of blacks and the white/black crime difference, since a large minority of criminals with Spanish surnames would otherwise be accurately defined as black.

We live in a surreal society, where Tiger Woods is defined as “black” even though he’s only 1/4 black and half Oriental, and mulattos like Barack Obama and Halle Berry [Pictures]are described as “black” and “African-American”, but where mulattos and blacks with Spanish surnames are classified as “white” when they rape women and girls and commit murders and robberies and aggravated assaults.

Incidentally, the misrepresentations of the Wisconsin sex offender registry are not limited to defining blacks and browns with Spanish surnames as “white”. The atrocity committed by Nieto and Morales involved kidnapping, gang-rape, torture, maiming, and attempted murder. But the registry says nothing about the abduction and burning and only describes the gang-rape in an abstract and disembodied legal sense: Criminal Code: 940225(2); Second-Degree Sexual Assault.

The reason: Nieto and Morales are only in the registry because of the gang-rape, not because of the kidnapping, torture, disfigurement, attempted murder etc.

If they had not raped their victim but “merely” abducted her, drove her into the country, beat her savagely, tortured her in a nonsexual manner, and then actually succeeded rather than failed in killing her by setting her on fire, their names and mug-shots would not be on any registry for uniquely vile and dangerous criminals.

As noted before, Nieto’s current address is the Columbia Correctional Institution. In 2008, a white female guard at Columbia Correctional Institution was arrested for having sex with an inmate. [Corrections Officer Arrested , NBC15.com, June 18, 2008]

If this middle-aged woman were convicted (she hasn’t been, yet) of “multiple” or even one count of “second-degree sexual assault” for having consensual intercourse or “sexual contact” with a male inmate—who was almost surely the initiator in their sexual union—her name, mug-shot, and address will be on the internet, in Wisconsin’s sex offender registry, until she passes from this world at age 79 or 86 or 92, just like Nieto and Morales. Lifetime registration and supervision are mandatory for all men and women convicted of “second-degree sexual assault.”

And definitionally, according to the registry, she’s guilty of the exact same crime, “second-degree sexual assault”, as Nieto and Morales.

Perhaps her “victim” was Juan Nieto?

Free Trade’s Disemboweling Of America By Patrick J. Buchanan

Free Trade’s Disemboweling Of America

By Patrick J. Buchanan

Though Bush 41 and Bush 43 often disagreed, one issue did unite them both with Bill Clinton: protectionism.

Globalists all, they rejected any federal measure to protect America’s industrial base, economic independence or the wages of U.S. workers.

Together they rammed through NAFTA, brought America under the World Trade Organization, abolished tariffs and granted Chinese-made goods unrestricted access to the immense U.S. market.

Charles McMillion of MBG Information Services has compiled, in 44 pages of charts and graphs, the results of two decades of this Bush-Clinton experiment in globalization. His compilation might be titled, “Indices of the Industrial Decline and Fall of the United States.”

From 2000 to 2009, industrial production declined here for the first time since the 1930s. Gross domestic product also fell, and we actually lost jobs.

In traded goods alone, we ran up $6.2 trillion in deficits—$3.8 trillion of that in manufactured goods.

Things that we once made in America—indeed, we made everything—we now buy from abroad with money that we borrow from abroad.

Over this Lost Decade, 5.8 million manufacturing jobs, one of every three we had in Y2K, disappeared. That unprecedented job loss was partly made up by adding 1.9 million government workers.

The last decade was the first in history where government employed more workers than manufacturing, a stunning development to those of us who remember an America where nearly one-third of the U.S. labor force was producing almost all of our goods and much of the world’s, as well.

Not to worry, we hear, the foreign products we buy are toys and low-tech goods. We keep the high-tech jobs here in the U.S.A.

Sorry. U.S. trade surpluses in advanced technology products ended in Bush’s first term. The last three years we have run annual trade deficits in ATP of nearly $70 billion with China alone.

About our dependency on Mideast oil we hear endless wailing.

Yet most of our imported oil comes from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Nigeria and Angola. And for every dollar we send abroad for oil or gas, we send $4.20 abroad for manufactured goods. Why is a dependency on the Persian Gulf for a fraction of the oil we consume more of a danger than a huge growing dependency on China for the necessities of our national life?

How great is that dependency?

China accounts for 83 percent of the U.S. global trade deficit in manufactures and 84 percent of our global trade deficit in electronics and machinery.

Over the last decade, our total trade deficit with China in manufactured goods was $1.75 trillion, which explains why China, its cash reserves approaching $3 trillion, holds the mortgage on America.

This week came a report that Detroit, forge and furnace of the Arsenal of Democracy in World War II, is considering razing a fourth of the city and turning it into farm and pastureland. Did the $1.2 trillion trade deficit we ran in autos and parts last decade help kill Detroit?

And if our purpose with NAFTA was to assist our neighbor Mexico, consider. Textile and apparel imports from China are now five times the dollar value of those imports from Mexico and Canada combined.

As exports are added to a nation’s GDP, and a trade deficit subtracted, the U.S. trade deficits that have averaged $500 billion to $600 billion a year for 10 years represent the single greatest factor pulling the United States down and raising China up into a rival for world power.

Yet, what is as astonishing as these indices of American decline is the indifference, the insouciance of our political class. Do they care?

How can one explain it?

Ignorance of history is surely one explanation. How many know that every modern nation that rose to world power did so by sheltering and nurturing its manufacturing and industrial base—from Britain under the Acts of Navigation to 1850, to protectionist America from the Civil War to the Roaring Twenties, to Bismarck’s Germany before World War I, to Stalin’s Russia, to postwar Japan, to China today?

No nation rose to world power on free trade. From Britain after 1860 to America after 1960, free trade has been the policy of powers that put consumption before production and today before tomorrow.

Nations rise on economic nationalism; they descend on free trade.

Ideology is another explanation. Even a (Milton) Friedmanite free-trader should be able to see the disaster all around us and ask: What benefit does America receive from these mountains of imported goods to justify the terrible damage done to our country and countrymen?

Can they not see the correlation between the trade deficits and relative decline?

Republicans seem certain to benefit from the nation’s economic crisis this November. But is there any evidence they have learned anything about economics from the disastrous Bush decade?

Do they have any ideas for a wholesale restructuring of U.S. trade and tax policy, for a course correction to prevent America’s continuing decline?

Has anyone seen any evidence of it?

It Happened There (3): Court Cripples British National Party For Being Too, Well, British

[Peter Brimelow writes: The Orwellian news that a British political party is being forced in the name of “equality” to admit members who oppose its principles got me thinking about another recent victim of what Roland Huntford called “The New Totalitarians”: American Renaissance and its disrupted attempts to hold its biannual conference. So I called AR Editor Jared Taylor and asked what was happening. Answer: nothing—no police inquiries into the left’s death threats, no outrage or even news reports in the Main Stream Media or  Establishment “conservative” and libertarian (!) outlets. (We hope to publish an update from Jared soon.) Diversity may be strength, but clearly it is not equal protection of the law.]

By Sean Gabb

On the most charitable view, Britain has, in recent years, become the world’s largest open air lunatic asylum. You only need open a newspaper to see the evidence—someone arrested for defending his life or home against attack; anti-terror laws used to stop the carrying of hairdryers in public; employers told not to advertise for “reliable” workers, so as not to discriminate against the unreliable.

And so it goes on. The stories almost jump off the page. Some of these may be touched up for a market that is greedy for them. Others may not bear much scrutiny. But enough are true to let people realize that this country has, over the past generation, become a very strange and perhaps a frightening place.

This strange and frightening quality, though, is not the product of insanity. The belief that our leaders have gone even barking mad, if worrying, is preferable to the truth—which is that, regardless of their party affiliations, they have, since at least 1960, been working for the total destruction of Britain as a country and the enslavement of its people.

As evidence for this, look at the way in which the British National Party has been treated.

For those unfamiliar with British politics, the BNP is this country’s most important white nationalist party. It denounces mass immigration and multi-culturalism, and the Politically Correct censorship and persecution that have been used to smother opposition. In the past few years, it has won elections to local representative bodies, and has two seats in the Parliament of the European Union. It may also, in the next few months, win a seat in the British Parliament.

The response of the British ruling class has been wholly rational. Given that these people want a police state and a population too Balkanized along racial and religious lines to offer any concerted resistance, they cannot tolerate a party like the BNP. Before 1999, when Nick Griffin became its leader, the BNP was broadly a national socialist organization. In those days, it had limited electoral appeal, and could safely be ignored, or sometimes held up for ridicule or execration. Now that Mr. Griffin has changed its core ideology, the party is an increasingly credible threat. Therefore, it must be destroyed.

During the past few years, it has been made illegal for members of the BNP to be policemen or prison workers. It is proposed that they should be prevented from working with children. Membership lists have been stolen. Many of those on the lists have come under pressure. Mr. Griffin himself was put on trial under our new hate crime laws for calling Islam—in a private meeting infiltrated by a media spy“a wicked, vicious faith”. If convicted, he would have faced seven years in prison: after two trials, he was acquitted.

The main effort now is to destroy the BNP from within. Not surprisingly, its rules always confined membership to indigenous Caucasians. But a U.K.  Government body called the  Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) decided in 2009 that this rule broke the Race Relations Act 1976 (as amended), and took the party to court.

Needless to say, the EHRC had done nothing about, for example, the various black police organizations, which confined membership to black people. Indeed, the EHRC has never responded to one complaint of discrimination by these associations against white people. Then again, starting with its head, West Indian-descended Trevor Phillips, the EHRC is filled with supporters and nominees of the ruling Labour Party. Its whole function is to hound enemies of the New Labour ruling class through the courts.

Quite obviously, the prosecution of the BNP was not intended to promote “racial equality” as this might reasonably be defined. Its purpose was to destroy. According to the Blog of Operation Black Vote,

Nic Careem, [Email him] a former Labour activist from Camden in north London, who is now with the Conservatives, said he originally argued that black and Asian people should join the BNP en mass [sic] to cause chaos and expose the extent of racism inside the party of Nick Griffin.”

In other words, the BNP is to be flooded with non-whites, who will then use further legal action—assuming the internal structures of the party are insufficient—to destroy it.

The courts forced Mr. Griffin to drop the restriction on membership. The BNP’s first non-white member was an elderly Sikh opponent of Islamic fundamentalism.

However, Mr. Griffin did impose two conditions on new members to block flooding attempts. First, he ruled that prospective members should be visited in their homes by BNP officials, to see if they were suitable for membership. Second, all members were required to declare support for “continued creation, fostering, maintenance and existence” of an indigenous British race, and action towards “stemming and reversing” immigration.

This second rule seems to have been used to stop a rich Pakistani called Mo Chaudry from joining. He had said he would join the party to fight them from the inside. [Asian businessman fights to join BNP, Channel 4 News, March 12 2010]

This did not suit the EHRC. It took the BNP to court again, arguing that the requirement amounted to indirect racial discrimination.

Last Friday, 12th March 2010, Paul Collins, the most senior County Court Judge in London, agreed with the EHRC. He outlawed the requirement for home visits, saying that this might lead to intimidation—though admitting that there was no evidence it ever had. He also outlawed the requirement to declare support for party principle and policy. The Judge said:

“I hold that the BNP are likely to commit unlawful acts of discrimination within section 1b Race Relations Act 1976 in the terms on which they are prepared to admit persons to membership under the 12th addition of their constitution”. [New BNP membership rules judged to be biased, Manchester Evening News, March 12, 2010]

The basis for this reasoning, the Judge claimed, is that, while no BNP policy breaks the law, no non-white person could support these policies without compromising their “personal sense of self-worth and dignity as a member of their racial group”.

And so the BNP is now required to accept members regardless of whether they agree with BNP policy.

Nick Griffin was forced on the spot to change his party’s membership criteria, or face jail for himself and forfeiture of party assets.

Of course, this is a bizarre ruling. In the first place, the claim that non-whites cannot support the policies of the BNP is untrue in fact. Some do. It is also patronizing for any outsider to tell people how they should view their “personal sense of self-worth and dignity as a member of their racial group”. That is properly a matter for every individual to decide for himself.

In the second place, the principle stated by Judge Collins leads to absurdity. If I am a white supremacist, I will be deterred from joining Unite Against Fascism, because I shall be expected to support policies contrary to my own sense of my “self-worth” and “dignity”.  If I am a devout Christian, I will be deterred from becoming a Moslem, because I shall be required to say that Mohammed is the Prophet of God. If I am a devout Moslem, I will be deterred from becoming a Christian, because I shall be required to believe that Christ was the Son of God. If the principle enunciated by Judge Collins is to be consistently applied, all these groups must be compelled to accept their opponents.

But the principle will not be consistently applied. As in Zimbabwe, the British courts are increasingly creatures of the ruling party. The Judge had no choice but to rule as he did.

Britain is no longer a free country. It is a police state, in which freedom of speech is being narrowed to allow nothing more than polite disagreement with the authorities over things not regarded as central to the 1997 New Labour Revolution—and in which freedom of association means nothing at all.

Within the next few years, it is likely that the BNP will be banned. This may be an honest ban, in the sense that the party is directly outlawed by Act of Parliament. But, more likely, all candidates will be forced to take an oath of loyalty to the established order before they can stand for election. Any candidate who does falsely swear support for the creation and fostering of “diversity, and who is elected, will then face being unseated and prosecuted the moment he opens his mouth.

For the moment, however, the BNP can be flooded by its political opponents. This may be enough to finish the party as a threat. It will not happen in time to prevent the party from fighting its campaign in the general election that must be held within the next few months. But Mr. Griffin was presented the other day with a legal bill variously estimated at between £60,000 and £100,000—is it any coincidence that this money must be handed over just weeks before a general election, and by a party that is already short of money?

Of course, all of this scandalous.

What I also find scandalous is that so few people other than supporters of the BNP are prepared to speak out against it. I am a libertarian, not a white nationalist. I have never voted for the BNP or any similar party. And I seem to be the only person of my kind, and with any degree of prominence in my country, who is willing to complain.

What is being done to the BNP is unfair in itself, and sets a frightening precedent. We have now reached a point in Britain where no one can truly claim to believe in freedom of speech or freedom of association unless he is willing to stand up in public for the right of Nick Griffin and the British National Party to speak their minds and to organize in support of what they believe.
