The EPA Can Go To Hell, and I Will Go To Texas

The EPA Can Go To Hell, and I Will Go To Texas

June 24, 2010

by Brian Roberts

Last week, the feds sent the Environmental Protection Agency out to harass the sovereign state of Texas. Texas needs to reclaim the spirit of Davy Crockett, when he famously proclaimed “you may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas”; and send the federal agency packing. Here’s why and how.

EPA’s Goal is Centralization of Power

By sending the EPA to Texas, the federal government’s goal is not environmental improvements. The goal is centralization of power. The tactic is to use the unelected bureaucrats of the EPA to increase Texas dependence on the federal government through arbitrary and economically crippling regulation.

Refinery permits are just tools that the EPA intends to use to control the Texas oil and gas industry. EPA control can force Texas into dependence in at least two ways. First, though excessive regulation of a major industry, economic growth will be stifled. This will create more state dependence on federal funds. Second, unnecessary EPA regulations will cost Texans jobs. This is will create individual dependence on welfare programs and since these programs include state-mandated funding, Texas will be hit with additional liabilities.

The political problem for the EPA is that Texas’ commonsense policies have resulted in cleaner air while maintaining one of the healthiest economies in our nation during the current recession. This Texas independence and success is why the feds will continue to financially attack Texas. A self-sustaining state is very problematic for a federal government that is trying to centralize all the power in Washington. So expect the relationship between the Texas state government and the U.S. government to increasingly deteriorate. Bill Hammond, president of the Texas Association of Business, had this to say about the political dilemma facing the EPA:

“Evidently, Texas’ success in improving both our environment and our economy, while Washington still argues about how to accomplish either, is something that EPA and the administration finds troubling.”

Proponents of centralized government will attempt to argue that Texas’ policies are causing the streets of New Orleans to smell like the morning after a frat party, or that pollution from Texas is causing smog in LA and NYC, or that the earth will be destroyed by the Texas carbon footprint. All of these arguments are ridiculous excuses designed to provide cover for a federal power grab. These straw man arguments do not in any way reflect reality.

Proponents of centralized government will argue that Texas should just roll over and take it because, they falsely proclaim: Texas needs federal subsidies. When in fact, Texas has been a donor state for decades and currently only gets back 94 cents for every dollar that is sent to Washington. Historical data shows that every year since 1981, Texas citizens have donated more to the federal government than what was received. The truth is that if Texas continues to roll over and take it, then at some point in the near future Texas will become dependent on federal money and require more back than what was put in, and that is certainly one of the goals of centralization.

The real battle, often hidden behind the propaganda, is between sovereign states seeking a level of independence guaranteed by the Constitution and a federal government that seeks to undermine the American system of federalism itself. Texas success is a powerful example that local, more decentralized government works best and for centralizers, that kind of example must be destroyed.

Texas’ Duty is Decentralization of Power

Texas should invoke the 10th and legally send the EPA back Washington D.C. where they can look for a lesser target to plunder. The tenth amendment guarantees a limited federal government and grants governing authority to states and to the people. Leaders in the Texas legislature and Governor Perry have responded with strong words against the EPA’s intrusion.

Governor Perry said this about the EPA’s actions:

“The Obama administration has taken yet another step in its campaign to harm our economy and impose federal control over Texas. On behalf of those Texans whose jobs are threatened by this latest overreach, and in defense of, not only our clean air program, but also our rights under the 10th Amendment, I am calling upon President Obama to rein in the EPA and instruct them to study our successful approach for recommended use elsewhere.”

Texas State Representative Wayne Christian had this to say:

“The EPA’s unilateral and unwarranted takeover of air quality permits in Texas further proves that the federal government has a clear disregard for the authority of the Texas Legislature and for the principle of federalism. Washington is seeking to command and control all sectors of economic activity. This action must not stand.”

It is apparent that Texas politicians and leaders understand that this is a federal power grab that should not be allowed to proceed. However, in recent times, leadership in Texas has been more about talking the talk and less about walking the walk. A recent example, still fresh on the minds of many Texans, is the hesitancy of the Governor to call a special session so that Texas might pass nullification legislation to protect its citizens from the unconstitutional mandates of Obamacare.

While this delay in legislation concerning health care may prove to be the proper course strategically, this may not be the case in the battle against the EPA’s permit consolidation. EPA’s regional administrator has indicated that Texas has “weeks, not years” before the EPA begins taking over the entire air-pollution permitting program. The time to act has arrived.

Texas leadership would do well to find inspiration in another Davy Crockett quote:

“I would rather be beaten and be a man than to be elected and be a little puppy dog. I have always supported measures and principles and not men. I have acted fearlessly and independent and I never will regret my course. I would rather be politically buried than to be hypocritically immortalized.”

The solution is straightforward: the state government of Texas should tell the EPA to go to hell. In practical terms this means that nullification legislation should be passed by the Texas legislature and signed by the Governor. This legislation, based on the tenth amendment, should declare federal mandates with regards to the Clean Air Act null and void in the state of Texas and should include penalties for federal agents or local law enforcement agents that attempt to enforce this federal law in the state of Texas.

In an age of rapid centralization of power in Washington DC, nullification legislation denying federal authority is becoming common. Various states have defied federal laws by passing legislation designed to nullify: federal healthcare laws, federal firearm laws, federal marijuana laws, federal identification laws, among others.

Security for All

Security for All

Belleville: Chinese demonstration #1
One of the ugly little secrets of Multiculturalism is the problem of violence between different non-white immigrant ethnic groups.

According to politically correct orthodoxy, all ethnic violence and crime may be ascribed to the racism of the majority white population. However, when “brown-on-brown” clashes occur, blaming the evil white man is a stretch, even for the most ardent multiculturalist. Somehow whites — via the overarching racist society they have created and dominate — are able to pit different ethnic groups against each other. That’s the Left’s story, and they’re sticking to it.

In London the Jamaican gangs are at war with the Pakistanis. In L.A., the blacks and the Mexicans clash repeatedly. Sometimes even different Muslim groups fight against one another.

The preferred victim for “youths” may be a member of the indigenous white population, but they will take any target of opportunity that happens along.

Belleville is a culturally enriched suburb of Paris, and, like most of the banlieues, its population is predominantly Muslim. However, there is a substantial Chinese minority in Belleville, and because the Chinese are relatively well-off and not always protected, they are favored targets for youthful muggers and thieves.

As immigrant groups go, the Chinese are generally peaceful and law-abiding. Last weekend they mounted a demonstration in Belleville with the theme “Sécurité Pour Tous” (“Security for All”) to protest the persistent violence of Muslim youths against their community, and the apparent indifference of the police to what is happening. Their rally was well-organized, orderly, and initially non-violent.

Belleville: Chinese demonstration #2
However, at the end of the event, a “youth” stole a Chinese woman’s purse and ran off with it. This was exactly what the crowd had been protesting, and for some of the protesters it was the last straw. They confronted the police, overturned cars, broke windows, and had to be dispersed through the use of teargas.

It was a most un-Chinese reaction to provocation, and demonstrates the extremity of their situation in Belleville.

The article below, which gives an account of what happened last Sunday and the background behind the demonstration, is taken from Le Quotidien du Peuple (my translation). The photos were borrowed from anthropologie du présent, Chine informations, and Alice in the land.

Le Quotidien du Peuple is a news organ of the Chinese community in France, and remains well within the acceptable politically correct boundaries its approach to the issue of “youth” violence in France. Nevertheless, an outline of the problem can easily be discerned from this report:

To preserve the rights and interests of the Chinese community in France, will the shot fired in Belleville be the last?

On June 20, tens of thousands of people from the Chinese community living in Paris marched in the Belleville district of the 19th and 20th arrondissement in Paris, and their demands were for “security” and “non-violence.” This demonstration was the detonation of several shots fired on June 2. That day there was a banquet at a restaurant in Belleville for the wedding of a young couple from China. But several guests were assaulted and attacked at the entrance of the restaurant by youths of African and Maghrebian origin who suddenly tore up and removed anything they could carry to throw at them. In the face of this situation, A Wu, a young Chinese man invited to the banquet, pulled a pistol from his pocket and shot and wounded the criminals. Knowing that his ill-considered actions violated French law, the young Chinese man immediately turned himself over to the French police, who had stood aside and allowed the bandits to act, and he gave them his weapon.

A Wu, who goes by the name Zhong Shaowu, is a young Chinese originally from Wencheng in Zhejiang Province, and at the moment is still locked in the Paris police detention center. It seems the police have no interest in any assault and theft in which the victims were ethnic Chinese; what interests them is where A Wu acquired the weapon he carried to defend himself against bandits and his motive for firing the shot, because according to them “There’s a little Mafia behind that.”

Regarding the case of Mr. Zhong, opinions are very diverse. We have no comment on that because this is not yet clarified, and it is the Paris police and the Chinese Consulate that are handling the problem. The most important thing for us is that the shot was fired once for all the long-suppressed indignation and anger, repressed and compressed in the hearts of the inhabitants of the Chinese community living in France, and especially the inhabitants of Chinese origin who settled in the low-rent housing district of Belleville in the 19th arrondissement of the French capital, who work hard with diligence to be able to make a better life in France. But for many years they have suffered a lot of provocations and attacks by gangs of young thugs who infest the neighborhood. Like most Chinese people engaged in and dedicated to small businesses, at the end of the day they often carry amounts of cash, and that is why they have become a favored target for the mob, the rogue and the scoundrel.

The demonstration on Sunday, June 20 began in the afternoon. In its preparation and organization it reflects the great differences of viewpoint among various parts of the Chinese community regarding the problem of ethnic integration. The diverse and different thoughts it arouses in society may be useful for us to know in order to decide the direction to take to best address the security issues of ethnic Chinese people.

Belleville: Chinese demonstration #3
1. Why should we not consider the problem of the lack of security among the Chinese in Belleville as a single ethnic conflict?

- – - - – - – - -

In all criminal cases of violence aimed to seize the property of others, most victims always carry cash, have little ability to defend themselves, have no companions to help and defend them, are mostly women or the elderly, while those of Chinese origin who speak little or no French, and have difficulties seeking help and communicating with the organs of justice. Given that a Chinese person is industrious, hard-working, able to endure suffering and hardship, and is very skillful in management and operations, he often has income, while his gentle nature — quiet and affable because it prefers to endure the troubles and hardships and financial losses to avoid misfortune — makes him in the eyes of the criminal a fearful and docile lamb who does what he is told. In France, a number of immigrants, and especially the younger generation of immigrants from francophone African countries and the Maghreb countries, often engage in criminal acts to satisfy their needs, and this is a puzzle for French authorities who do not know which way to turn. Ethnic Chinese despise these people, and are often subject to their acts of theft, assault and robbery.

One thing we must not forget is that these people are very different from Chinese, since many of them have lived and grown up from childhood in an environment of violence, and they consider the forcible oppression of the weak as a rule of survival. They bully, mistreat, humiliate and brutalize not only ethnic Chinese, but also the weaker members of their own ethnic group, so that even the women, the elderly and children of African and North African origin, and also some French people, are often the object of their abuse and humiliation. The purpose of their rape and plunder is to seize the fruits of labor of others and make a living without working. For them, the only thing that merits consideration is the best way to seize the property of others. As for me (the author of this article), I have friends of North African origin, and they are modest, gentle, reasonable, hardworking, and diligent workers like any member of a civilized society; this is why it is completely arbitrary and subjective to try to determine the moral quality of any person by considering only his ethnicity.

Contrary to the imagination of some Chinese, in which the incident developed into a war between the Chinese community and other local immigrant communities, such a situation will not benefit anyone, and will provide no solution to the problems that exist, and will be positive only for hooligans, ruffians, and criminals who will be glad to manipulate racism and ethnic awareness in order to avoid prosecution, and this will be the only escape for them that will allow them to avoid embarrassment and trouble. In contrast, we must use the model of relations between associations and organizations, and it is up to Chinese organization to act first to contact different ethnic communities to unite and gather all the residents of nearby neighborhoods, thereby reducing as much as possible hiding places for criminals, and that is how the Chinese can make use of their wisdom and intelligence.

2. Why should the overseas Chinese and foreigners of Chinese origin living in foreign territory make their claims and demands known, understood and accepted by the general public and the major social classes of the country in which they reside?

The overseas Chinese nationals and overseas Chinese have a heart that beats in unison with the homeland and this is naturally the choice of feeling, but nobody should forget that they must respect the sovereignty justice of the country hosting them, and when their rights and interests are encroached, then they must seek the help and protection of the courts of the host country, and must also know how to harness the power of local media to increase the weight of their claims so that they are taken into account by the leaders of the country involved as well as the international community, and ensure that their actions can gain moral support. Regarding this, the Jewish community is very well behaved and has conducted its affairs well. I remember that in 2007 the Jewish community in Paris organized a large demonstration with a number of participants that was not counted in tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, but reached over one million. The mission of the Jewish community was to honor the memory of Ivan, a young Jew murdered by bandits from the Ivory Coast, received the full support of major French media, and even non-French Jews participated in the demonstration which began at the Place de la Republic and ended up at the Place de la Nation. In comparison, there were only tens of thousands of Chinese who participated in our “anti-violence” event. The route was not only short and demonstrators traveled the streets to remote places where there are few people, and there were very few representatives of other ethnic groups, it seems that our event is much less popular than the one organized by Jews three years ago. During the course of the latter, there were several small skirmishes between young Muslims and Jewish youth (Ivan’s attacker was a young Ivorian who practiced Islam), but they were quickly suppressed by security groups dispatched locally by the organizers of the event with the help of the police.

What impressed me most deeply was the high degree of self-discipline of the Jewish community when several Jewish extremists began to burn the headscarf emblematic of the Palestinian Liberation Movement and fight with young North Africans who followed the rally. I acted instinctively, taking my camera. At that time, a young engaged couple Jews came to me and begged me in tears while saying, “Mr. Journalist, please do not include this picture in your news article, because these young Jews are a minority and they do not represent the mainstream of the Jewish community. We do not want our event to cause ethnic conflict.” And at exactly that moment, members of the group enforcing discipline and safety intervened to disperse the antagonists and end the conflict that had just kindled.

Subsequently the local press published reports on the event and there were very few negative comments about it, which was quite consistent with the initial goal adopted by the organizers. The Jewish community is deeply rooted in French society, so it is impossible for the Chinese community to fully and completely follow its example, but can refer to it as a model for the organization of the event.

3. Errors that overseas Chinese must avoid making when they are struggling for their rights and interests.

During the demonstration on Sunday there were some problems that I think were inappropriate and inconceivable.

Belleville: Chinese demonstration #4
First of all, the principle of “unity of all ethnic groups to resist and combat illegal activities” was not translated into the event, while there was too much emphasis on the participation of ethnic Chinese while failing to invite the largest number of representatives of other ethnicities. For example, the French also suffer from the woes inflicted by the thugs and criminals, and they should have been invited to this event, while most of the population of Belleville became mere spectators and not participants, which significantly reduced the impact of this popular demonstration.

Then, regarding the organization of the event, even though there were no major problems, during the final stage, when during the evacuation of protesters there were quarrels, disputes, and altercations between Chinese youth and youth of North African origin, and at the same time a woman of Chinese origin became a victim of theft when her handbag was snatched and disappeared in the blink of an eye, causing a conflict with a tendency to escalate. For when organizers left the place, some young people of Chinese origin acted against the police who used teargas to try to disperse the demonstrators, and a dozen were arrested and detained.

Belleville: Chinese demonstration #5On the other hand, many held aloft and waved Chinese flags throughout the event, and some protesters said that “the Chinese Embassy is supporting the event …” when in reality in such cases, Chinese embassies abroad always act with caution because of the sovereignty of justice of the country involved. While preserving and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens, we must avoid interfering in the judicial independence of the country at issue. A small number of protesters who do not understand this act with abandon, adding a negative aspect and a sense of hostility which is absolutely counterproductive for the success of diplomatic efforts, and, on the contrary, these factors and this feeling cannot provide any successful resolution of the problems.

Hopefully, the claims and demands of the Chinese community in France about its safety in this country will be taken into account by the French government. But, on the other hand, Chinese citizens in France and French people of Chinese origin should make efforts to strengthen communication and understanding with leading French social classes, because the emergence of the problem of insecurity in ethnic conflict is in nobody’s interest, and is something that nobody wants to see or live through.

Honoring Uncle Joe

Honoring Uncle Joe

by Baron Bodissey

Uncle Joe Stalin
Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, who was christened as Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili in his native Georgia, is better known to history as Josef Stalin. He was a Bolshevik revolutionary, and later the brutal dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics from the late 1920s until his death in 1953. During that time he was directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of millions of people, most of them his own countrymen. And for four years of that period he was an esteemed ally of the United States and Great Britain in the fight against Nazi Germany.

Stalin bust at the D-Day memorialI bring all of this up because of an article in last night’s news feed and a subsequent discussion in the comments about the controversy over the bust of Stalin that was recently erected at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia. The issue is of local as well as national significance for me, since the memorial is just down the road from us. On June 6, 1944, the “boys from Bedford” experienced the greatest casualty rate of any American outfit, which is why Bedford was chosen for the site of the D-Day memorial.

Given the long and bitter course of the Cold War, and the hundreds of thousands of Americans killed in Korea and Vietnam, it’s understandable that many Americans object to presence of Stalin on the sacred ground of the Bedford memorial. It’s galling for the millions of surviving victims of Communism to see Stalin honored alongside the British, American, Canadian, and other allied heroes of World War Two.

On Monday The Washington Times reported:

Opponents of the recently installed bust of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Va., are not backing down and have started a worldwide petition.

The petition, which was started last week, calls on the officers and board of directors at the National D-Day Memorial Foundation to remove the bust. It had received 616 confirmed signatures as of Monday afternoon, with confirmation pending on more than 200 other signatures.

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, with assistance from the Joint Baltic American National Committee, intends to marshal public opinion against the board’s decision, said Karl Altau, the committee’s managing director. Mr. Altau said that while no goal has been specified, 10,000 signatures would be “terrific.”

[…]

Mr. Altau said he has seen a strong response, especially from the countries hardest hit by Stalin’s dictatorship, such as Hungary, Poland and such former Soviet republics as Estonia, Latvia and Georgia…

Yesterday the same paper followed up with the memorial foundation’s response:
- – - - – - – - -

Robin Reed, slated to become the next president of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation on Monday, is standing by his predecessor’s decision to install a bust of dictator Josef Stalin at the memorial in Bedford, Va.

“At this point in time I certainly am not going to re-evaluate that,” he said in an interview Tuesday with The Washington Times.

While Mr. Reed said he can “appreciate the concern” of locals who have voiced their opposition to the bust, he said the bust can serve as a teaching tool to make visitors recognize the importance of Stalin as one of the leaders in World War II.

To those who argue that Stalin’s force weren’t present on the beaches of Normandy in 1944 and had nothing to do with the D-Day invasion, Mr. Reed said Stalin still deserves credit as someone who contributed to the success of the war.

I’ll go off the reservation here and agree with Mr. Reed. Stalin deserves to be included as an equal partner with Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt. Like it or not, he was a member of the trio of wartime leaders.

Stalin Roosevelt ChurchillNot only did Stalin occupy a co-equal position within the Allied leadership, but he was honored and acclaimed as a friend by the West during the war. Western propaganda turned him into “Uncle Joe”, a big affable Russian guy, beloved by own his people and a friend to the Western Allies. We were led to believe that Communist Russia was not that different from democratic America. The Soviets just carried around a lot of red flags and wore babushkas and furry hats; but otherwise they were more or less the same as us.

Dr. Seuss on Uncle JoeThere was no gulag. All those people convicted and shot during the show trials really were guilty. The Ukrainian famine didn’t happen — Walter Duranty told us it was a lie, and who could doubt Duranty? After all, he was a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist.

From 1942 to 1945 we committed an enormous amount of men and materiel to bolster Stalin’s position on the Eastern Front. Thousands of American and British sailors died making the Murmansk run around northern Norway to bring weapons and equipment to the Russians. Almost all of the trucks used by the Soviets in their fight against the Nazis were manufactured in the United States.

Not only that, the participation of the USSR was crucial for Allied victory. Hitler could never have been totally defeated without the destruction of much of his army on the Eastern Front by the Red Army.

All of this manufactured friendship made it difficult to fire up the Cold War in later years. Since we were democracies, we couldn’t turn our propaganda machine on a dime and do an about-face. The Soviets didn’t have the same problem — up until the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact on August 23, 1939, Hitler was a counterrevolutionary demon. After that he was a friend of international Socialism, right up until June 22, 1941, when the Wehrmacht crossed the border into the Ukraine. Then he became a demon again, and stayed that way until April 1945, when the Red Army found his charred body in the garden of the Reichskanzlei in Berlin.

The pro-Soviet propaganda in the USA had a lasting effect. The image of Uncle Joe lingered in the back of American popular consciousness throughout the Cold War, giving us a sneaking affection for ordinary Russians, those good-humored vodka-drinking guys in their long coats and fur hats who secretly didn’t like Communism any better than we did — or so we had to believe. That meme was dusted off and relaunched in 1991 when “democracy” suddenly bloomed in Russia.

I believe in honesty in the reporting of history.

Of late it has become fashionable to airbrush Roosevelt’s cigarette holder and Churchill’s cigar out of the photos on display in museums and schoolbooks. This is a trivial instance of the renowned “memory hole”, the same oubliette to which Stalin consigned all the Old Bolsheviks. One by one they were edited out of the grainy photographs until no one was left standing in front of the carefully reconstructed background but Stalin himself.

Joe the GeorgianSo let the bust stand. Uncle Joe was there, and he was our ally. Recognizing him would be a welcome breath of historical accuracy in the thoroughly debased practice of 21st-century historiography.

And by all means include a prominent sign explaining to visitors what Stalin stood for. Let’s direct them to the Global Museum of Communism, which honors the more than one hundred million victims of Marxist totalitarianism.

But let’s tell the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It’s time to consign the airbrush to the ash heap of history.

It’s much too late to worry
That we never had a chance
And when Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance, dance, dance
When Joe the Georgian gets here
We will dance

— Al Stewart, from “Joe the Georgian”

Cultural Marxism is the Planned Destruction of Western Culture

Cultural Marxism is the Planned Destruction of Western Culture

I’m sure the author of this piece (about a quarter of the way down the page) felt much better after having written it. It has the feel of someone letting off an awful lot of steam. The subject of the article is Cultural Marxism and it’s a wonderful summation of its pernicious effects.

The article is posted in full below but there was one paragraph that got my attention.

“Appeals to diversity, multi-racial harmony, and the mix of incompatible customs and beliefs in some multicultural stew are designed to produce weak liberal sissies who are incapable of discerning positive human values from slogans of control. They always follow the party line and look to parties and leaders to guide them. Kitsch is the poster culture of the lemmings who imagine they are part of some wave of history evolving consciously toward global utopia. They actually believe the promises and the image manipulation of the politicians. They are the conditioned robots who wait like baby birds with their beaks open, chirping for a worm from their socialist controllers and anxious about conformity to the next socialist directive. This is entirely consistent with the materialist view of history and the Pavlovian conditioning stimulus-response theory for the control of the socialist masses. These materialist liberals actually make themselves into conditioned serfs.”

This could easily describe the majority of those in the ‘media’ and ‘entertainment’ industries, but as soon as I read the above, an image of Adrian Chiles came to mind.

“The human mind has no built-in firewall that can serve as a defense against lies, propaganda, and false values. The firewall must be instilled by high-minded cultural caregivers. The same vulnerability is generally true of cultures. Without a high wall banning TV and Hollywood movies, cultures become destabilized and ripe for New World Order takeover by transmission of hyperreal TV and video messages to children. We have dealt with this problem in more detail in our posts How Postmodernism Controls Your Identity. Migrations out of villages to cities further breaks societies, even when the migrations are not controlled by the New World Order interests, such as in Mexico. It’s very difficult to think of a people who have embraced Western industrialization and not lost their culture entirely. The Japanese come to mind, but Japan’s post-World War II leaders embraced population control, and the Japanese are now in danger of dying out after badly skewing their population mix. China, for example, has completely lost its great Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist heritage under Communist persecution.
Not all cultures completely die out when nations embrace modernism, but Marxism actively and purposely destroys the past and hides its own history. The irony of this project is that Marxism itself is based on national stereotypes of the nineteenth century.

The project of Marxist modernity is to destroy all existing cultures and all existing social arrangements. If they can break your link to the great heritage of the human past, they can control you easily because now you have no identity. The Marxists have the replacement identity ready to instill in you through propaganda and brainwashing. Your new identity is, servant of the revolution and follower of the party line.

Cultural Marxism is a method of mind control that is designed to operate through modern media to accomplish the same goal psychologically, without torture. Cultural Marxism dominates modern media. Cultural Marxism ridicules existing culture and presents you with politically correct Communist models. You respond to the image and the suggestion because you have no built-in firewall of superior values. If they can get you to imagine that handing over power to them will result in some positive outcome (progress) rather than the endless wars and economic exploitation that Marxism causes, they don’t need to use force. You agree to your own self-destruction. In fact, you give them money so you can receive their message over and over again. The messages are nicely constructed. They are better than the reality you face when you walk out your door.
TV is the matrix. Pretty much everybody is in it now. That’s why, when you talk to a liberal you already know what they are going to say. TV produces uniform zombies who regurgitate the slogans and the models subconsciously. There is no active thinking or active consciousness in the process. It is subconscious and mechanical. That is why it is easy to get liberals to interact with robots, act like robots, and embrace a future full of robots. Liberals are the most robot-like people on earth because they accept the TV messages without a filter.

As if that wasn’t enough, they now have cell phones, internet, video games, movies, music, a whole universe of pseudo-culture for you to play with. The sophistication of the electronic message appears superior to all those old people actually grappling with material reality and with difficult ideas. You are a modern, superior, sophisticated consumer of up-to-date surrealist images. Pity the poor caveman, or even those Greeks and Romans. You are surfing the wave of the future while they were dealing with difficult stuff you don’t understand. You don’t want to deal with any difficult stuff.

Cultural Marxism is the planned destruction of Western culture and the substitution of a degenerate pseudo-culture based on image manipulation. You can identify the pseudo-culture because it never refers to the great heritage of Western civilization. It is designed to break your identity with the great culture of the past and those who made it.

When you watch Cultural Marxist TV programming, you are surfing a funhouse of mirrors, and if we take you out of your self-delusion for a moment, you get irritable and angry and confused because you are dreaming their dreams, and anyone who isn’t dreaming the same dream seems like a threat, or hopelessly inferior.

The more children watch TV, the worse their mental health. This applies to everyone except you, of course. You have a firm grip on reality while you are cycling through hyperreality day after day. OK, let’s have a little test. Describe the plot of a TV show you watched in 2004. Sing the lyrics of a song you liked in 1997. Tell me a few Robin Williams jokes, the great classic ones. You want to build your life around this stuff, right? It’s your culture, right? Why can’t you remember anything significant about it? Because there is nothing significant about it. It has no basis. It’s a kind of magic trick, an endless stream of illusion.

Two of the most important themes in the mass liberal crap culture are the kitsch pseudo-culture of socialism and the satanic subculture of occultism. Belief in a brotherhood of man spawns the kitsch culture, the nauseating socialist sloganeering and Communist role modeling of political correctness and Green politics. Appeals to diversity, multi-racial harmony, and the mix of incompatible customs and beliefs in some multicultural stew are designed to produce weak liberal sissies who are incapable of discerning positive human values from slogans of control. These materialist liberals actually make themselves into conditioned serfs.

Satanism models occult symbols and themes as the key to achieving power through self-will. Satanism is for the adolescents who are not completely neutered by socialist slogans. Satanism promises a shift of power for the individual, away from the lobotomized mass kitsch culture of socialist obedience to modeling the thrill of extreme individualism. Satanism holds out the possibility of joining the elite controllers, not by achieving great wealth or by joining the Model UN and drafting codes to limit free speech and control population but by breaking the social control mechanisms to embrace channeled messages from the Spiritual Masters. Occult symbol manipulation, mind control through hypnosis, altered consciousness, sex and drug indulgence, extreme narcissism, goddess worship, and pagan revival are gateways to the promise of superpowers, guided by dark spirits.

Your children will exhibit symptoms of one or both of these personality control themes because you have not exposed them to the great traditions of Western culture and given them a real identity. Eventually you will have to pull them out of their drug habit and send them to the rehab culture of psychotherapy and self-help if you want them to live. Psychotherapy and self-help are also socialist traps, so you won’t really be breaking the circle of imprisonment. Rehab is now built into TV programming as part of liberal normalcy. But psychology and self-help never break the subconscious association of images that constitute your mental life, so you never end up acting consciously out of high human value, you continue to cycle their images in your subconscious.

Actually breaking out of unconscious mechanical life into conscious life is far more difficult than you can imagine. Once they get you, the odds are you are going to remain got.

Watch children’s cartoons closely and you will see both of these anti-social themes modeled prominently. If you wonder why your little angel grew up to become a feminist slut and goddess satanist, well, it starts with the cartoons.

Or perhaps your kids are junior entrepreneurs who model consumption of brand-name products and strive for corporate status. Congratulations, you’ve avoided the worst of the mass pseudoculture. Now all you have to worry about is whether they become marketing managers manipulating mass consumption through subliminal image associations and occult surrealism. When your kids know the difference between Coke and Pepsi and have all the latest stuff, when they spend their time on cell phones and video games and social networking, you’ll know you succeeded as a parent.

The only firewall that works is learning about the great noble values of the high traditions of Western art, music, philosophy, literature, and religion. Everything else has been assimilated into the liberal death culture. Without this firewall, your kids will become financial manipulators, mass media manipulators, lying politicians, Green global activists, public school teachers, or socialist bureaucrats. They will become zombie programmed liberals carrying their nauseating crap values like infected rodents, programmed to infect the innocent.

But this is actually the best thing that can happen to them. How about the really damaged kids, the dumbed-down products of matriarchal feminism and the divorce culture? At the intersection of matriarchy and forced integration is where you find the really bottomless pit of the liberal sludge culture, the lost stoned rebels who imagine they are Negro rap gangsters, pimps and prostitutes, Star Wars heroes, goddesses, social justice thieves, fashion mannikins, internet hustlers, rock stars.
I see your kids every day in my town. They have no self-control. They have no respect for elders, or for high achievers, or for noble warriors, or for any of the pockets of human greatness in history. They can’t read, but they can ride skateboards and eat packaged junk and talk on cell phones and play video games. They know who the most famous feminist sluts are, but they can’t find India on a map. You’ve managed to make sure I can’t influence them, but here is the news: You’re not going to influence them very much either because the Communist UN Treaty to Take Over the Child is going to make sure parents have no right to educate their children. You will be temporary caretakers at the pleasure of some state bureaucracy devoted to monitoring your most personal habits and making sure your kids are following the right Communist role models. Have a nice day, good luck in dealing with your local child authority board, and thanks for nothing.”

Left Wing Dupes

Left Wing Dupes

In an earlier post we saw the suggestion by Phillip Jones, in his essay the Nexus of Evil, that the most effective resistance to the unfolding New World Order and its Communist (left wing)/Super-capitalist (right wing) nexus (Communitarianism) was Nationalism. He also talked about the ‘rootless intellectuals’ being ‘marshaled’ against Nationalism and how it had become ‘a much maligned and misrepresented political credo’.

Nationalism is the only bulwark against the New World Order and those behind it know this. A nation is its people which is one of the reasons why they have encouraged such large scale immigration in order to destabilise and weaken national identity. I should point out that moderate Nationalism isn’t racism, xenophobia, fascism, extremism or Nazism. These are all the extremes that are used to denigrate and deride and have become powerful mind control ‘buzz words’. All guaranteed to spring to mind when the subject of Nationalism is bought up. This is intentional because we are being slowly led into a totalitarian One World Government. Genuine Nationalism is that which operates in the interests of its sovereign peoples and which co-operates freely and willingly with all other sovereign countries.

Nationalism is being attacked in numerous ways but, as mentioned above, perhaps the most obvious one is mass immigration along with such Frankfurt School derived cultural Marxist techniques as political correctness, anti-racism and affirmative action. It should be obvious that, in addition to the age old elite tactic of divide and rule, this is a deeply wicked attempt by the PTB (powers that be) to destroy British national identity without any sort of consensus. A situation which I’m sure most ethnic minorities of good will would not wish to see happen to their country of origin or indeed to Britain for that matter. It should never be forgotten we are both victims in this drive for a One World Government.

Absolutely essential to this endeavour has been the manipulation and shaping of public perceptions and thinking (brainwashing) by the PTB. As I began to understand the broader agenda it seemed to me that the most duped of all have been the ‘left’ of British politics. Not least because I once considered myself to be ‘left wing’.  I’m not talking about the leadership of the Labour party (I’ve a feeling they are brainwashed in other, more subtle, ways) but the lowly MP’s, councillors, activists and general supporters.

I’ve long since stopped believing in the left’s idea of ‘progressive (another mind control buzzword) politics’. Many, if not most, of their policies were bad enough even taken at face value. What the ‘left’ fail to realise though is that they are being manipulated to a shocking degree as one part of a dialectic that will eventually see a super rich, blood-line elite and their minions install a 21st century form of feudalism, with the great mass of society as little more than serfs or slaves. The control system we already live under is slowly tightening its grip with the left’s help and in many cases, its blessing. The system’s also being slowly altered (hence the frequent political use of such terms as ‘change’ and ‘reform’)  as we are moved into the new global control system often referred to by the ‘elites’ as the New World Order.

I recently came across a quote that seemed to shed some light on another, important, part of the brainwashing we are subjected to. It was from a speech given at a meeting of the Church, in Crampton, in the middle of the 19th century. Some sources say that a Reverend, Dr Bramwell made the speech, others that he was the chair of the meeting and that the speech was given by a Reverend J. R. Stephens of Stalybridge. Whoever the speaker was, he said:

“The factory-law was so unblushingly violated that the chief inspector of that part of the factory district, Mr. Leonard Horner, had found himself necessitated to write to the Home Secretary, to say that he dared not, and would not send any of his sub-inspectors into certain districts until he had police protection. *** And protection against whom?  Against the factory-masters!  Against the richest men in the district, against the most influential men in the district, against the magistrates of the district, against the men who hold her Majesty’s commission, against the men who sat in the Petty Sessions as the representatives of royalty. *** And did the masters suffer for their violation of the law?  In his own district it was a settled custom of the male, and to a great extent of the female workers in factories, to be in bed from 9, 10 or 11 o’clock on Sunday, because they were tired out by the labour of the week.  Sunday was the only day on which they could rest their wearied frames. *** It would generally be found that, the longer the time of work, the smaller the wages. *** He would rather be a slave in South Carolina, than a factory operative in England.”

There are several things that can be deduced from the quote, not least the clearly described representatives of the control system we still live under today. What caught my eye the most however was the final sentence. The collective guilt all ‘white’ people are meant to have about the slave trade is one of the major justifications for, amongst other things, mass immigration, the cultural Marxism that goes with it, the, so called, equality agenda and the suppression of any criticism of these things.

There are many elements of the slave trade, as taught in British schools and elsewhere, that are distorted, misrepresented or left out altogether. Most importantly though is the fact that the ‘white people’ responsible for the slave trade were the same small elite, largely royal and aristocratic, few whose descendants are still in control today. Nothing’s changed, particularly in the sense that all these things require money. Both the slave trade and the empire were funded by the bankers. It’s the financial oligarchy that controls both Britain and elsewhere that made the decisions then and continue to do so today.

The great mass of British people were little more than slaves or serfs themselves. Whether in sweat shops or factories similar to the one described above or in earlier times on the fields of rural Britain. I’m certainly not downplaying the suffering of Africans due to the slave trade, just attempting to put it in some sort of perspective. A perspective that clearly shows that both the (white) working classes of Britain and the (black) African victims of the slave trade have a common enemy. The blood-line elites that still control this country, the Commonwealth and elsewhere and who are attempting to create a New World Order. A totalitarian system that will see us all enslaved even further than we are today.

The liberal left have been sold the idea that the world can be spilt into two, guilty oppressors (‘whites’) and virtuous victims (other ethnic minorities). The truth is very different. It wasn’t ‘white’ working class factory workers that decided to create the empire, enslave ‘black’ Africans or go to war on numerous occasions, it was the elites who really rule this country. They are our common ‘enemy’. If the ‘left’ wish to do something of value for both the working classes of Britain and poor people all over the world they should look no further than our banking and finance system. There’s nothing that keeps the controllers in power more than the fractional reserve banking system. It allows them to create money from nothing, charge interest on every currency unit created and subsequently own and control all the major corporations. It’s this same system operated by the international banking cartels through the IMF and World Bank that is the main reason why the developing world remains in a state of poverty.

It’s only when you study the New World Order agenda in some detail that this and much more can be traced back to a common source. It’s from that common source that the puppet masters manipulate the sham Punch (left) and Judy (right) show we call democracy. A system designed only to distract the masses and give them the illusion they have any power.

To concur it’s important for us all to realise that we have been, and continue to be, exposed to incredible levels of brainwashing, mind control and ‘perception management’. None more so than on the subjects of mass immigration, political correctness, (so called) equality and affirmative action. These things may appear to be to the benefit of ethnic minorities but at best it is only a short term illusory effect in the pursuit of a long term goal. Yes the ‘right’ is also manipulated but perhaps not to the degree that the ‘left’ is. They, in particular, need to awaken from their hypnotic trance if we have any chance of escaping the New World Order trap that is being set. Britain is being subverted, divided (diversity) and destroyed. If we are to prevent this happening, not just here but elsewhere in the world, then we have to become aware of the manipulation taking place and focus on our common enemy. Once that’s done the sovereign people of this country and other countries around the world can all find a way forward free from the lies and deception of a control structure that presently operates only for the benefit of the super rich bloodline elites and their paid minions and political puppets.

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. — The court-ordered election that allowed residents of one New York town to flip the lever six times for one candidate — and produced a Hispanic winner — could expand to other towns where minorities complain their voices aren’t being heard.

But first, interested parties will want to take a look at the exit surveys.

The unusual election was imposed on Port Chester after a federal judge determined that Hispanics were being treated unfairly.

The 2010 Census is expected to show large increases in Latino populations and lawsuits alleging discrimination are likely to increase, said Rob Richie, executive director of FairVote, a nonprofit election research and reform group.

“The country’s been changing in a lot of places, with minority growth in exurbs and commuter cities, and there will be a realization that those minorities can’t elect candidates of choice,” Richie said.

That will leave minority groups, federal prosecutors and municipalities looking for ways to keep elections from violating the federal Voting Rights Act, which protects minorities’ constitutional right to equal protection under the law.

In Port Chester, trustees had been elected two at a time every two years, with conventional at-large voting. Most voters were white, and there were always six white trustees even though Hispanics made up half the population and nearly a quarter of the voters. Judge Stephen Robinson concluded the system violated U.S. law by diluting Hispanics’ votes.

The standard remedy was to break a municipality into districts, with one district including many from the minority, thereby increasing the chances for a candidate backed by the minority group. The Justice Department proposed that solution for Port Chester.

But the village of about 30,000 objected to districts. It suggested instead a system called cumulative voting. All six trustees would be elected at once and the voters could apportion their six votes as they wished — all six to one candidate, one each to six candidates or any combination.

The system, which has been used in Alabama, Illinois, South Dakota and Texas, allows a political minority to gain representation if it organizes behind specific candidates. Judge Robinson went for it, and cumulative voting was used for the first time in a New York municipality.

Peruvian immigrant Luis Marino, 43, finished fourth, making him Port Chester’s first Hispanic trustee.

“It helped me get elected,” said Marino, a Democrat who works in maintenance at the Scarsdale schools. “I will be representing all the people of Port Chester, but I am aware that I can help Hispanics bring their concerns to the board.”

Voters also elected a black trustee for the first time: Joseph Kenner, a Republican who was already on the board as an appointee.

The village said Friday that 3,278 residents voted, about 31 percent of those registered, a slightly higher turnout than usual. Hispanic turnout had not been analyzed, but Richie said about a quarter of all votes went to Hispanic candidates.

Marino’s victory might prompt other judges to consider cumulative voting as a remedy.

“The way this election was implemented in Port Chester can be an example for other jurisdictions with similar problems,” said Randolph McLaughlin, a lawyer who has represented plaintiffs in several voters’ rights cases, including Port Chester’s. He cautioned, however, that the success was not just due to the unusual election system, but “was the result of the work that went in before the election.”

That work — an extensive voter education program — was the principal subject of exit surveys. The questions, in Spanish and English, weren’t about whom they voted for but about how well they understood the system and what strategy they used in voting.

The survey also asked which of Port Chester’s outreach programs — a website, radio and TV commercials, voter forums, handouts — were helpful.

Voter education was a requirement of the settlement, but Port Chester officials believe they went beyond their obligation.

“We put so much emphasis on education — we may have spent $100 a voter — because we knew it would be critical to success,” said village spokesman Aldo Vitagliano. “We also know that the next community can point to Port Chester and say `That’s how it’s done.’”

Two political science professors — David Kimball of the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Martha Knopf of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte — were hired to analyze the Port Chester data. Kimball said their report would take a few weeks.

“There’s a very important issue here: Were voters comfortable? Did they understand how it works?” Kimball said. “Did they plump (give more than one vote to a candidate)? Did they know they could plump?”

Until there’s a separate analysis of the votes, including who did well in Hispanic neighborhoods, it won’t be known for sure if Marino was actually the preferred candidate of Latino voters.

“The election of a Hispanic candidate does not necessarily mean that a Hispanic-supported candidate was chosen,” McLaughlin said. “But it’s definitely a step forward.”

Are you the same as this?

The video below is a response to a security camera video.

The African who made that video is not a Loony Leftist, he is a typical member of a typical black community; and the purpose of his video is to explain typical black African behavior.

No matter where the African may be, the African remains an African, and their typical behavior remains Typical African Behavior.

Leftists should drop the phony Propaganda of Marx, and take up the Reality of the real world!

Here is an African giving a BIG SHOUT OUT to prevent Free Speech.

Ann Coulter was going to speak, but Loony Leftists were so frightened by the words that might have escaped from her lips that they rioted and prevented her from speaking.

What could she, or anyone, possibly say that would frighten the Loony Leftists so?

Actually the Loony Leftists have their heads so far up their distal orifice that they could not hear her anyway.

Obviously, they are frighted that we might hear someone, anyone, speak the Truth!

Do White Folks have a Right to Listen to a White Woman who came to Speak to them?

City of Seattle tells contractors: NO WHITES MALES!

The City of Seattle held a pre-bid meeting for contractors in which they were told that they must use female and minority apprentices for city jobs. The jobs in question are being paid for by the Federal Stimulus program.

Slide seven of city’s powerpoint presentation states “Must use under represented groups — No white males w/o WSDOT approval and extensive good faith effort documentation.”

Left-wing con man Al Gore accused of sexually attacking masseuse.

From Australia Herald Sun…

FORMER US Vice President Al Gore has been hit by sexual assault allegations, just weeks after his shock separation from wife Tipper.

An Oregon woman brought a complaint of “unwanted sexual contact” by Gore in 2006, a statement from the District Attorney’s office in Multnomah County, Oregon, confirmed.

The DA statement was made after a story was published Wednesday in the National Enquirer saying Mr Gore, 62, was “accused of sexually attacking a masseuse” during a $540 appointment at a Portland hotel. The Enquirer said the woman was a 54-year-old whose identity was being kept secret.

The woman, a licensed massage therapist, alleged she was called to a hotel in Portland to massage Mr Gore on October 24 in 2006 when he assaulted her.

Portland police released a statement late on Wednesday saying officers tried to interview the woman after her attorney came to them in December 2006 — but the lawyer said in January 2007 that they were pursuing civil litigation and did not want criminal investigations to proceed.

Chicago to get $25 million in Federal tax dollars to fight “school violence.”

Remember when schools used to receive zero dollars to fight violence? Remember when public schools did not even have any security guards, and principals just spanked students that got out of line?

Chicago’s public school system is about 91% non-white, with students from all over the world. Instead of being a strength, diversity has brought violence and decay to the city schools. Only half of Chicago’s public schools students even graduate!

African-American: 45%
Latino: 41%
White: 9%
Asian/Pacific Islander: 3.6%
Native American: 0.2%
Source.

Now here is a bombshell for you. Whites make up 9% of the student body and Asians, less than 4%. However, whites and Asian make up 50% of Chicago students who go on to get a bachelors degree.

Only 3 out of every 100 black or Latino students go on to get a bachelors degree. Chicago spends a staggering $11,500 per student a year. It seems the more money that is spent on a school, the worse the results. Many private schools operate on $3k-$5k per student and perform at a level that well exceeds their local over-funded public schools.

From Chicago Sun Times…

Mayor Daley today unveiled plans to use $25 million in federal economic stimulus funds to save “lost” students at Chicago Public high schools and expand the reach of three programs aimed at combating school violence.

The cornerstone is a $10 million mentoring program for 1,500 high-risk students at 13 high schools. Currently, 250 students get the special attention.

Mentors drawn from 20 community organizations chosen by a selection committee will begin tracking down troubled students this summer — even if it means going to their homes or showing up in juvenile court, according to Schools CEO Ron Huberman.

They’ll be available to their proteges 24 hours a day to place them in jobs and other “constructive activities,” serve as their advocates in school and in court and line up tutoring and social services.

“These are students who have, almost in every case — no meaningful adult relationship. These are the students [who] are lost. No adult has engaged them, so they’ve been out on their own,” Huberman told a news conference at Hirsch Metropolitan H.S., 7740 S. Ingleside.

“When you … don’t give them adult intervention, and they don’t feel loved, you get the results you would expect. They’re engaging in violence. They’re engaging in activity that is both a danger to themselves and a danger to others. This program is about those kids.”

The remaining $4.7 million will launch a previously-announced community watch program in 13 high schools identified by the Chicago Police Department as having high crime and active gang conflicts.

Most of the money will be used to pay 390 community “watchers” hired through 14 community organizations. There will be 20 to 30 monitors per neighborhood assigned to designated safety routes during arrival and dismissal times. They’ll have two-way radios to communicate with police and school officials.

In case you missed that, let me repeat. The city of Chicago is going to use $10 million dollars of your federal tax money to try to prevent 1,500 “at risk” students from committing violence. That is $6,667 per student!!!!

Then $4.7 million for a community watch program. Since when do people have to be paid to watch their community? There was a time when Americans volunteered to do this for free.

Once again, World Cup 2010 explodes myth of Negro superiority in sports.

Certain groups of sub-Saharan Africans have specific physiological traits that give them an edge in sports like basketball. Of course we just saw the whitest team win the NCAA championship this year.

However, soccer requires great endurance. It is the sports that require the most endurance that white people excel the most.

There are five sub-Saharan African teams in the World Cup that are all black. South Africa, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, and Nigeria. South Africa and Nigeria are already out. Ivory Coast and Cameroon are in the bottom half of their group and will probably not move on to the second round. Only Ghana is doing well. There are a total of 32 teams, and 16 will move on to the second round.

There are two more teams that are over half black, France and Brazil.

The big story is France, who fielded an international majority black team. France is one of the worst teams on the field this year, despite decades of being a major contender. Insiders say the teams multi-national members all hate each other and can’t get along. The last time France won the world cup was with an all white, all French team.

Groups A & B have completed their matches. Group A consisted of South Africa, France, Mexico, and Uruguay. Uruguay was the top team. Their starting line up had one Mestizo and one black. The rest were white.

Group B consisted of Argentina, South Korea, Greece, and Nigeria. Argentina came out on top. Argentina’s entire squad doesn’t have a single black. There are a few Mestizos and the rest are white.

George Soros: Budget Cutting = Nazism

George Soros: Budget Cutting = Nazism

George Soros has announced that Germany’s fiscal austerity measures might lead to “xenophobia,” reports Ambrose Evans-Pritchard,

“German policy is becoming a danger that could destroy the European Project. A collapse of the euro cannot be excluded,” he told the German weekly Die Zeit.

“Unless Germany changes policy, its withdrawal from the currency union would be helpful for the rest of Europe. At the moment Germany is pushing its neighbours into deflation: this threatens a long phase of stagnation, leading to nationalism, social unrest, and zenophobia. It endangers democracy,” he said.

Mr Soros saw the political effects of wage cuts first-hand during the Great Depression, and narrowly survived the Holocaust as a Jewish boy in Nazi-controlled Budapest. He has since dedicated much of his wealth to philanthropic works promoting freedom and pluralism across the globe, mostly through Open Society institutes.

When I was at school, I learned that it was the Weimar hyperinflation — and not all those terrible Weimar balanced budgets — that destroyed the savings of the German middle class and set the stage for the Rise of Evil. But who I am to question Soros’s novel theory? He was there after all…

As with all sociopaths, one must look beyond what Soros says (“gold is the ultimate bubble”), and focus on what he does (buy gold.)

My speculation is that Soros senses that the Eurozone might dissolve and wants to make a killing off selling the Euro short, much as he did with the pound sterling in 1992. Contrary to what Soros and Paul Krugman are telling the world, the only way that an El Dorado currency like the Euro could ever survive would be if the European governments practiced serious fiscal restraint and never prompted a “run on the Euro” by bailing out weaker countries or ginning up phony growth through “quantitative easing” (read “money printing,” Weimar-style) and massive, unpayable debt loads. (Soros knows this; someone like Krugman probably believes his own Keynesian nonsense.)

One hopes the Germans won’t cower in the face of all this “Nazi” talk and take Soros’s advice/bait.

Outstanding review of Racism, Schmacism!

Outstanding review of Racism, Schmacism!

Racism Schmacism

http://www.thepoliticalcesspool.org/jamesedwards/

Today is my 30th birthday, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present than this review of Racism, Schmacism from our friends at Spirit Water Blood. I’m very humbled and grateful for their kind words.

As I’m sure you can tell from his ethnopolitics blog, James Edwards is famous for perceptive social commentary interspersed with laugh-out-loud one-liners. Now he has published his first book, and it is so entertaining and thought-provoking that it’s easy to lose track of the time while reading it. You can get an idea of what’s in store from the chapter titles alone, such as: “There’s a Pot of Black Republicans at the End of the Rainbow.”

There are many political books published that hinge on some aspect of a presidential administration. A select few of these hinge on a racial aspect, such as Steve Sailer’s America’s Half-Blood Prince. Racism, Schmacism is not the first book to poke holes in the ridiculous plaudits garnered by Obama as a race-transcending messiah, but it could very well be the best book of the genre because, in addition to this, it gives solid evidence that our people have been neutered by what Joseph Sobran calls semitically correct language.

Behold
The arch-enchanters wand!—itself a nothing!—
But taking sorcery from the master-hand
To paralyse the Cæsars, and to strike
The loud earth breathless!

Our language has been controlled through the media, and wresting control of it again is easier said than done. As Napoleon Bonaparte knew, “Four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets.” But when the emperor parades down the boulevard naked, men of courage do not shrink from pointing out the obvious (excuse the puns), even when they must stand alone. Courage is the deciding factor. As Shakespeare observed in Hamlet, “many wearing rapiers are afraid of goosequills.”

Not James Edwards. He shows that, in the Age of Obama, the word “racism” still carries the same counter-intuitive definitions, and all the old double standards still apply. For instance, according to conventional wisdom, race exists merely as a social construct, which is to say that it is not real. But the government and media and courts expend a tremendous amount of time and energy and money to ensure that opinions about this thing that does not exist meet official approval. From the Census to the student body to the surgery room, race is of utmost importance. It is said that racial diversity is “our greatest strength,” so great and so strong as to require vigilant enforcement. As always, the challenge for liberals is to keep whites anaesthetized to their own dispossession, and if anything like the Tea Party movement arises, their job is to assuage the grumbling masses by steering reforms into the black hole of a political party owned and operated by the establishment. (See how the Republican Party succeeded in neutralizing anti-abortion dissent.) By doing so, they guarantee that whites are ashamed to be white and Christians are ashamed to act upon their faith in public, except when God’s help is needed for one of Israel’s wars.

This game plan was rather successful until the fabled post-racial future became the majority-minority present in these once-United States. Thus, Edwards begins his book with the ludicrous spectacle of John McCain dumping his bid for the presidency he long sought, for fear of being called a racist. McCain is representative of what our race has become. We are no longer blessed with men who stand on principle. Politicians today are as craven as the voters; they are made for each other. Obama’s accession to the White House is what naturally rushes in to the vacuum when white men take leave of their senses and backbones.

If we fail to turn this tide, we will be well on our way to extinction in 20 years, impotent and oppressed minorities in the country we inherited from our own brave fathers. Most of our kinsmen still fail to realize this, but with each passing year more of them become aware. The first thing they begin to realize is what Edwards has long preached: “A racist is a white person.” More specifically, a racist is one who:

1) is white,
2) loves being white,
3) loves the country he inherited from his ancestors,
4) wants his children and grandchildren to be like him and his ancestors, and
5) doesn’t believe that any of the above is replaceable.

If this is how our enemies define “racism,” let us revel in it. Let every man, woman, and child among us shout from the rooftops that we are proud racists! This is what our Southern ancestors did with the epithet “rebel.” To rebel against the rebellion against the Constitution is to be a rebel indeed. We too must choose between racism and patricide. Whether to triumph or not, we vow to stand with our race.

Many average folks came to realize that “a racist is a white person” when they saw that race was not finally vanquished by the election of Obama, as his supporters exulted. Instead of transcending race, Obama has proved that his whole life has been a quest to seek validation from his black kin. Discrimination against whites has only intensified. The Attorney General felt perfectly at ease in calling us a race of cowards, despite the fact that we have bled ourselves dry to accommodate and assimilate diversities. White people who thought that electing Obama would end their status as second-class citizens have had a rude awakening. Even Rep. Steve King of Iowa (the state where early white support for Obama ended Hillary Clinton’s campaign) is stating publicly that Obama favors the black race.

It is crucial that this book be placed in the hands of such people. It will be to them like a light cutting through the fog. But it is about much, much more than politics. It explores the differences in how whites and non-whites think. For instance, jokes are regularly considered “hate speech” when told by whites. “Hate crimes” are designed to be charged overwhelmingly to whites. The double standards continue to exist because of the tendency of whites to comply with the law even when it is biased against them, and because of the steadfast desire of non-whites to bias the law in their favor. One side is ethical to its own hurt while the other is unashamedly unethical.

Liberals and conservatives alike get very upset when they hear certain words of old that are believed to have unfairly kept minorities “in their place.” Edwards has done a great service by showing that the word “racist” is now designed to keep white people in their place. It is a “slur directed at white people in order to shame us into voting, believing or behaving a certain way.” The old words are verboten, but the new, undefinable word “racist” (first used by Communists) is considered perfectly acceptable, from the pulpit to the classroom to the workplace.

Edwards documents stories from recent years that seem almost unbelievable, but they are all too shockingly true. Such weighty matters of life and death could be ponderous and gloomy in the hands of another writer, but the style of James Edwards is to laugh in the face of the devil (i.e., the SPLC), to mock him, to dare him to make a move. Even in the face of our demise as a people, Edwards is light-hearted and carefree, or so his prose indicates. He understands the art of war. He drives his enemies mad by deriding them as fools. They can’t stop talking about him. In recent weeks, he has drawn the ire of MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and Media Matters. He has scooped the entire, big-budget mainstream media. Well-funded anti-white hate groups have teams dedicated to monitoring his every move. And still he laughs. He is inspiring white men and women everywhere to reclaim their birthright. We believe his first book (the first of many, we hope) makes an excellent case that the charge of “racism” has lost its sting. Let’s spread the word that we are no longer intimidated, James Edwards least of all.

Radio, web, print… When will he have a TV show?

Violence in Community Mein Obama Organized Reaching Epic Levels

Violence in Community Mein Obama Organized Reaching Epic Levels

Father’s Day weekend in Chicago, the city Mein Obama calls home and where he ‘community organized’ with such gusto, was a city of ruin and despair (map of crime in Chicago found here).

Something straight out of a grindhouse film transpired, leaving little doubt that the community Mein Obama organized is anything but disorganized:

Eight people were killed and at least 44 others were shot across the city Friday night into early Monday, including a baby girl who suffered a graze wound to the neck when gunfire erupted at a Near West Side barbecue.

Those killed included a 28-year-old man found shot in the chest about 3 a.m. Monday in the 7500 block of South Halsted Street near a South Side church, according to Gresham District police. A passing motorist found the man, identified as Credale Woulard, of 7711 S. Ada St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was dressed in women’s clothing and was found lying dead on the sidewalk.

In the South Side Englewood neighborhood, 44-year-old Darryl Dunn was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the 7200 block of South Marshfield Avenue at 2:02 a.m. Monday, authorities said.About 1:52 a.m. Monday, 25-year-old Larry Johnson of 14003 Park Ave. in Lansing was shot in the 6400 block of South Ingleside Avenue in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood. He died nearly two hours later at a hospital, police said.

Durwin Hackman, 20, of 3117 W. 172nd St. in Hazel Crest, was killed in a shooting that also injured two others about 11:10 p.m. in the 700 block of West 111th Street in the Far South Side Roseland neighborhood. The three victims were involved in a verbal altercation over a female when other males began to shoot before fleeing the scene.

A 19-year-old man was also taken to Christ Hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and he was listed in critical condition, police said. The third victim, a 21-year-old man, was in “stable” condition at Christ Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm.

Three men, two of whom were related, were found fatally shot in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood early Saturday in what police consider gang-related slayings.

The victims were 25-year-old Waseem Smith, 45-year-old Barry Smith and 28-year-old Leon Smith, according to the medical examiner’s office. They were shot just after 3 a.m. in the 2300 block of South Springfield Avenue, police said. Police found two of the men in separate cars and the third lying on the street outside one of the cars.

A 19-year-old man died Sunday night after being shot in the head Friday night in the 1800 block of West 87th Street, police said. Pierre York of 8647 S. Wood St. was walking down the street with a friend when they were confronted by a gunman, who fled after shooting York, police said.

In addition to the homicides, at least nine people were shot early Monday, including four men and a baby girl who were injured when gunfire erupted during an outside barbecue on the Near West Side early Monday.

The shooting happened at 12:11 a.m. at 1334 W. Hastings St, according to a Monroe District police lieutenant. Several people attending the barbecue heard shots fired and “everybody started running,” the lieutenant said.

One shot struck a 1-year-old girl, who suffered a graze wound to the neck. Four men were also shot, police said. One of the victims, a 34-year-old man, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The other three men suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

On Sunday, at least 10 people were shot, including a 16-year-old girl who was critically wounded when shots rang out during a fight on a South Side street.

The girl was standing outside at 1251 E. 78th St. at 8:15 p.m. when several fights broke out and one person pulled out a handgun, according to a South Chicago District police captain. The girl was struck in the back and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

On an especially violent Saturday, at least 21 people were shot. That included five people injured in four shootings in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood, just blocks from the annual Puerto Rican festival.

Following Friday’s violent storms, at least one person was injured in a shooting on the South Side.

Cook County is home to violent block parties and people who find cooperating with police an unacceptable way to pass the time. Of course, in Los Angeles and Seattle cooperating with the police also are deemed unpleasant activities. Indianapolis as well, where an unrelated incident recently transpired that many claim reeks of racial overtones (remember, anytime a white police officer arrests a non-white only racism can explain the action as no justifiable offense can warrant such action).

The National Guard
couldn’t restore order, serenity and safety to Chicago at this point.

Kneel before Zod-Obama? Look to the community he organized and see the current state of Chicago as but a microcosm for the future of the nation.

SBPDL once heard that it will take dramatic examples to shake people from their apathy. The irreplaceable website Thugreport.com acts as an aggregate for crime and murder reports from across the nation, attempting to show no bias in the process.

Yet a discernible pattern emerges that would require unprecedented machinations to fabricate and can no longer be explained as an elaborate ploy of The Man to suppress Black people nationwide.

To orchestrate a vast conspiracy to implicate Black people as purveyors of criminality in virtually every city in America would necessitate a sophisticated network of informants to continually slander and libel said people as proponents of unrelenting debauchery and degradation.

However, no underground conspiratorial network is needed to accomplish this feat: consult your local nightly news for the unvarnished truth.

Police brutality seems the only determent to escalating levels of Black violence, which seem to be ingrained through nature instead of nurture.

Newsone.com publishes a vital guide for Black people to consult when they face a police confrontation, so that they can then milk the inevitable encounter for as much monetary gain as possible.

As evidenced by Chicago, cooperating with police is the least of Black peoples worries in 2010: cooperating with each other is most pressing.

Dramatic examples to shake people from their apathy? What will it take?

Blogs and tweets could predict the future

Blogs and tweets could predict the future

If only they'd studied the tweets (Image: Andy Rain/EPA/Corbis)

If only they’d studied the tweets (Image: Andy Rain/EPA/Corbis)

In the time it takes you to read this sentence, more than a thousand tweets will have been twittered and dozens of blogs posted. Much of their content will be ephemeral fluff: personal gripes and tittle-tattle interesting to no one but the parties concerned. Yet despite this, it is possible to use that torrent of information to make predictions about social and economic trends that affect us all.

Interest in the idea of analysing web data to make predictions took off around a year ago, when researchers at Google used the frequency of certain search terms to forecast the sales of homes, cars and other products.

In their landmark study, Hal Varian, Google’s chief economist, and his colleague Hyunyoung Choi showed how the volume of searches for certain products, such as types of car, rose and fell in line with monthly sales. Google keeps extensive records of what is being searched for, and that information is available almost instantaneously. That could make Varian and Choi’s method a far quicker way of gauging purchasing behaviour than traditional sales forecasts, which are often made by looking back at purchasing patterns.

Other researchers have since analysed search terms to look at all manner of behaviours. In late 2009, economists at the Bank of Italy showed that the volume of searches for terms like “job search engine” is a good indicator of coming changes in the unemployment rate in the US. Researchers at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, showed that tracking Google searches for consumer goods provided a better means of forecasting US retail sales than the traditional method of using surveys of consumer attitudes – the so-called Consumer Confidence Index.

Now other sources, such as blog posts and tweets, are being mined too, and the variety of subject matter they address might mean that phenomena other than purchasing patterns can be explored. “The possibilities are enormous,” says Joseph Engelberg, a finance researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Tweets may prove useful to political pollsters, for example. Bryan Routledge and his colleagues at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ran a sentiment analysis on tweets posted in the run-up to the 2008 US presidential election relating to candidates Barack Obama and John McCain. They used the results to try to assess voting intentions as the election neared.

The researchers found that this Twitter rating tracked more formal opinion polls closely. And while they were not able to improve on the accuracy of those polls, the work did show that Twitter could provide a cheaper, quicker alternative, says Routledge.

Blog posts can be used to predict stock market behaviour, according to Eric Gilbert and Karrie Karahalios at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who presented their findings last month, at the International Conference on Weblogs and Social Media in Washington DC.

They used over 20 million posts from the LiveJournal website to create an index of the US national mood, which they called the Anxiety Index. It is a measure of the frequency with which a range of words related to apprehension, such as “nervous”, appear in the posts. Gilbert and Karahalios described how they have used the index to improve forecasts of the movement of the S&P 500, a stock market index based on large, public US companies.

Movement of the S&P 500 can be predicted with some degree of accuracy using a model that extrapolates from the past three days’ prices. Gilbert and Karahalios found that when the Anxiety Index rose sharply, the S&P 500 ended the day marginally lower than the three-day model predicted. This shows, the researchers say, that the index can be a useful bellwether of economic behaviour. “Blogs provide a sample of what is going on in society,” says Gilbert.

Posts on Twitter may hold similar predictive power. Johan Bollen and his colleagues at Indiana University in Bloomington have created an anxiety rating based on an analysis of hundreds of millions of tweets by people in the US. Their paper has not yet been published, but Bollen says they too found that increases in anxiety on their scale correlated with lower than expected stock prices. “We’re astounded,” he says. “We didn’t think it would be a predictive relationship.”

The frequent appearance of words like ‘nervous’ in blogs correlated with lower stock prices

That’s because very few of the tweets were actually about stock trades. Instead it seems that the messages capture the “national mood”, a collective feeling known to influence trading decisions.

Such a knowledge of national mood could be useful for stock traders. They will be less likely to take risks if they know consumers are pessimistic, for example, since consumer spending is a big part of economic growth.

Another group likely to seize on these kinds of predictive tools are hedge funds, for which anything that offers an edge can be worth millions of dollars. Engelberg has been analysing search engine terms to predict market behaviour and was asked to present his results to the directors of a New York-based hedge fund earlier this month. “They were very familiar with the data,” he says. “I got the sense they were [already] using it.”

It is likely that the predictive power of these techniques will increase as researchers develop more sophisticated methods for gauging the emotional content of blogs and tweets. For example, it may be possible for Gilbert and Karahalios to fine-tune their Anxiety Index to look at a broader range of emotional cues.

Other researchers are sceptical about the reliability of blogs and tweets, however. Paul Tetlock at Columbia University in New York studies how stock markets are prone to being influenced in unexpected ways. In 2007, he showed that the sentiments expressed in a column in The Wall Street Journal can influence stock market behaviour.

The problem with using sentiment analysis from blogs and the like, Tetlock says, is that it is only indirectly linked to trading decisions. “A person talking about anxious feelings in a blog or tweet may or may not be more averse to taking trading risks,” he says. “Moreover, the people on many of these sites are kids, whose general anxiety is probably only weakly correlated with their parents’ investing behaviour.”

Search terms, on the other hand, are a “particularly promising” means of predicting market behaviour, Tetlock says. They are a direct measure of what people are paying attention to, and therefore likely to correlate to real-world behaviour.

Chimpanzee Gangs Kill for Land, New Study Shows

ScienceDaily (June 22, 2010) — Bands of chimpanzees violently kill individuals from neighboring groups in order to expand their own territory, according to a 10-year study of a chimp community in Uganda that provides the first definitive evidence for this long-suspected function of this behavior.

University of Michigan primate behavioral ecologist John Mitani’s findings are published in the June 22 issue of Current Biology.

During a decade of study, the researchers witnessed 18 fatal attacks and found signs of three others perpetrated by members of a large community of about 150 chimps at Ngogo, Kibale National Park.

Then in the summer of 2009, the Ngogo chimpanzees began to use the area where two-thirds of these events occurred, expanding their territory by 22 percent. They traveled, socialized and fed on their favorite fruits in the new region.

“When they started to move into this area, it didn’t take much time to realize that they had killed a lot of other chimpanzees there,” Mitani said. “Our observations help to resolve long-standing questions about the function of lethal intergroup aggression in chimpanzees.”

Mitani is the James N. Spuhler Collegiate Professor in the Department of Anthropology. His co-authors are David Watts, an anthropology professor at Yale University, and Sylvia Amsler, a lecturer in anthropology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Amsler worked on this project as a graduate student at U-M.

Chimpanzees (along with bonobos) are humans’ closest living relatives. Anthropologists have long known that they kill their neighbors, and they suspected that they did so to seize their land.

“Although some previous observations appear to support that hypothesis, until now, we have lacked clear-cut evidence,” Mitani said.

The bouts occurred when the primates were on routine, stealth “boundary patrols” into neighboring territory. Amsler, who conducted field work on this project described one of the attacks she witnessed far to the northwest of the Ngogo territory. She and a colleague were following 27 adult and adolescent males and one adult female.

“They had been on patrol outside of their territory for more than two hours when they surprised a small group of females from the community to the northwest,” Amsler said. “Almost immediately upon making contact, the adult males in the patrol party began attacking the unknown females, two of whom were carrying dependent infants.”

The Ngogo patrollers seized and killed one of the infants fairly quickly. They fought for 30 minutes to wrestle the other from its mother, but unsuccessfully. The Ngogo chimpanzees then rested for an hour, holding the female and her infant captive. Then they resumed their attack.

“Though they were never successful in grabbing the infant from its mother, the infant was obviously very badly injured, and we don’t believe it could have survived,” Amsler said.

In most of the attacks in this study, chimpanzee infants were killed. Mitani believes this might be because infants are easier targets than adult chimpanzees.

Scientists are still not sure if the chimpanzees’ ultimate motive is resources or mates. They haven’t ruled out the possibility that the attacks could attract new females to the Ngogo community.

Mitani says these findings disprove suggestions that the aggression is due to human intervention. Lethal attacks were first described by renowned primatologist Jane Goodall who, along with other human observers, used food to gain the chimps’ trust. Some researchers posited that feeding the animals might have affected their behavior. The Michigan researchers didn’t use food.

He cautions against drawing any connections to human warfare and suggests instead that the findings could speak to the origins of teamwork.

“Warfare in the human sense occurs for lots of different reasons,” Mitani said. “I’m just not convinced we’re talking about the same thing.

“What we’ve done at the end of our paper is to turn the issue on its head by suggesting our results might provide some insight into why we as a species are so unusually cooperative. The lethal intergroup aggression that we have witnessed is cooperative in nature, insofar as it involves coalitions of males attacking others. In the process, our chimpanzees have acquired more land and resources that are then redistributed to others in the group.”

The paper is titled “Lethal intergroup aggression leads to territorial expansion in wild chimpanzees.” The research is funded by the Detroit Zoological Institute, the Little Rock Zoo, the L.S.B. Leakey Foundation, the National Geographic Society, the National Science Foundation, the University of Michigan, the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, and Yale University.

The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), an offshoot of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), claimed responsibility for blowing up a military bus in Istanbul, the nation’s largest city, killing several soldiers and a 17 year old girl, according to Zaman.

This comes after last weekend’s PKK terrorist attack on a Turkish military unit near the Iraq border, killing 11, and “sending shockwaves across the nation.” (See “22-Jun-10 News — Turkey masses troops on Iraq border.”)

The new attack brings to an end the unofficial truce between the PKK and the government, based on an initiative launched last year by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the London Independent.

After Saturday’s attack Erdogan vowed to “annihilate” the PKK and promised that they would “drown in their own blood.” The Istanbul attack infuriated Erdogan, according to Hurriyet. Speaking at a meeting of officials from his own political party, the Justice and Development Party, or AKP, he criticized the images of grieving mothers on television, calling them propaganda that will serve terrorists. “I beg your pardon,” he said, “but unfortunately the media is intentionally or unintentionally supporting the terrorist organization in a serious way. I am being this harsh.”

I can’t get over the irony of this situation, coming so soon after Erdogan condemned Israel for the Gaza blockade to prevent exactly this kind of terrorist attack on Israel. This must be another example of Karmic revenge.

US budget deficit continues its climb to infinity

Budget deficit <font size=-2>(Source: heritage.org)</font>
Budget deficit (Source: heritage.org)

Congressional Budget Office figures indicate that the government deficit will continue to be much larger than the Administration anticipated. This charge from the Heritage Foundation web site is based on Administration and CBO figures.

In many ways, the whole right side of this graph is a laugh. They really don’t have any idea what the deficit will be next year, let alone in 2020. These numbers are all total guesses, based on fantasy assumptions.

If you look at the left side of the graph, you can see what I’ve said many times before: the deficit up till now has nothing to do with the Iraq war; it’s mostly related to tax collections. The surplus that occurred for a couple of years in the late 90s was a result of the dot-com bubble. The subsequent deficit occurred because the dot-com bubble crashed. The deficit shrank again from 2004-2007 because of the real estate and credit bubbles. The deficit has soared since 2007 because of the credit crunch / financial crisis.

So now the projected deficit for 2010 is an astronomical $1.5 trillion, much higher than estimated in the past. This is because tax revenues are down and because of the unprecedented costs of the stimulus and bailout programs. But the graph shows that the deficit decreases in the next four years. How do they reach that conclusion? They reach it based on the assumption that the economy is going to go through a “V-shaped recovery” — meaning that the credit bubble is going to grow again, leading to a big increase in tax revenues. As regular readers of this web site know, that’s not going to happen.

Why did the CBO find that the projected deficit is going to increase from 2015 to 2020? That’s because Obama’s health plan kicks in. Remember the claims that Obama’s health plan was supposed to save money? Well, that was a joke on all of us. It turns out that business health insurance costs are going to go through the roof, with the result that they’ll cancel their health insurance plans altogether, pushing most employees onto the subsidized government-sponsored health plans. This will cost huge amounts of money, resulting in the increased projected deficits.

In September of last year, I called Obama’s health care bill a proposal of economic insanity, and nothing has happened to change my mind.

In 2008, I posted the article “One, Two, Three … Infinity,” in which I compared to the ever-increasing government spending plans to a book by George Gamow that I read in school in the 1950s. My use of that particular phrase was to convey the idea that debt was on an exponential growth path that would not be stopped except by a major financial collapse and crisis. That hasn’t changed either.

McChrystal on the carpet

Stanley McChrystal, Obama’s top commander in Afghanistan, might be fired on Wednesday, after he meets with President Obama in Washington to explain his remarks to the author of an article in Rolling Stone magazine.

The remarks really aren’t so bad, but they’re taken out of context and are made to appear to be disrespectful of the President. Thus, McChrystal might get fired.

On the other hand, the entire Afghanistan counter-insurgency strategy was developed by McChrystal, so he’s the best person to continue leading the effort. Thus, the President may decide to magnimously forgive McChrystal and send him back to Afghanistan.

For what it’s my worth, my reading of the situation is that McChrystal wouldn’t mind being fired because he’s come to realize that the counter-insurgency strategy is not going to work. (See “20-Jun-10 News — UN reports ‘alarming’ rise in Afghan violence.”) We’ll see.

22-Jun-10 News — Turkey masses troops on Iraq border
Violence flares again in Kyrgyzstan

Turkey sends thousands of troops to Iraq border after PKK Kurd terrorism

Thousands of Turkish troops are massing on the border with Iraq, according to Reuters, following Saturday’s surprise terrorist attack on Turkish military units, killing 11, by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The PKK attacks “sent shockwaves across the nation and [are] fueling a rising anger that is dangerous in terms of inter-communal harmony between Turks and Kurds,” according to an analysis in Turkey’s Hurriyet news service. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to “annihilate” the PKK, and promised that they would “drown in their own blood.”

Erdogan became a national hero in recent weeks because of his blistering condemnation of Israel after the confrontation with the Gaza “freedom flotilla,” according to Associated Press.

But the PKK attacks have now turned some Turkish public opinion against Erdogan. In particular, he’s being blamed for offering an “opening” to the PKK last year, in an attempt at reconciliation, but his attempt was ridiculed by the PKK, and many now see it as a humiliating mistake. The result is an empowering of Erdogan’s political opposition.

Erdogan has announced that he’s implementing a new anti-terror strategy. The role of the troops on the Iraqi border has not been announced, but an invasion of northern Iraq may be part of it.

Supreme Court upholds Patriot Act provision limiting some free speech

A provision of the Patriot Act that makes it illegal to provide any “material support” to foreign terrorist organizations was upheld by the Supreme Court by a 6-3 decision, according to CNN.

The case in question involved an American group claiming to be giving advice on peaceful activities to the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK), which is designated as a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union. The court ruled that such activity could be deemed illegal, even though doing so limited free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment.

I believe that I can safely claim that this would never have happened in the 1990s. From the point of view of Generational Dynamics, when a country enters a generational Crisis era, the pendulum swings away from individual rights and towards national security.

I have had a number of people express concern to me over the loss of individual rights during the last few years. Some blamed it on President Bush, but now we see it happening in President Obama’s administration.

This is what happens in any generational Crisis era. It happened in the Civil War, and it happened during World War II. However, when the Crisis era ends, the pendulum swings back towards individual rights again.

At least one person was killed in new clashes between Kyrgyz security forces and ethnic Uzbeks, near Osh on Monday, according to the BBC. This follows last week’s violence that produced thousands of casualties and hundreds of thousands of refugees.

The following interesting map appeared on the BBC web site:

If you compare this map to the one above it, you can see how the dividing line between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the Fergana Valley is rather arbitrary, and was defined for some political purpose by Josef Stalin in the 1920s-30s.

The concern is that there could be repeated incidents of violence, and that they could expand into a larger civil war.
