How to Win: Whistleblowing

Let a Thousand Climategates and Wikileaks Bloom

You are but one man. Yet you are reading this website, so you are likely to be computer-savvy, verbally capable, and highly politically motivated. You have read innumerable diagnoses and predictions of a gloomy future, many of them all too accurate. But amidst this abundance of prophetic reaction, you have also observed a distinct shortage of feasible plans of action.

We have a plan. We have begun doing something which is both perfectly legal and astonishingly effective. Here is how you can join us.

  1. Get a government, media, or nonprofit job, ideally as a system administrator

  2. Obtain emails and files demonstrating wrongdoing

  3. Upload them to the Internet as an anonymous whistleblower

  4. Only quit a few months later, well after the firestorm

To understand why your actions will be so devastatingly effective, we begin by acknowledging that America as we know it is not salvageable.

Its demographic and financial burdens are insuperable and will mean hyperinflation within the next few years with crackup to ineluctably follow. What is worth fighting for is not the United States per se, but the chance to define the ideological conversation in the aftermath.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, the free-market alternative was obvious.1 In the rubble of what was America, men with nothing to lose will be able to speak freely for the first time in decades … but what will they say? Tongues stilled for so long will not simply utter profound truths of their own accord. Any political proposals will be directed at what people believe caused the collapse and will empower the institutions with intact reputations.

Linger on this last point for a moment.

“…the institutions with intact reputations…”

Reputation is an interesting thing. It is, perhaps surprisingly, metered on a one-dimensional scale.

Consider a politician with a policy agenda. A reporter who opposes this agenda is taking the hard road if he engages in point and counterpoint. Far easier to follow the politician around and publish salacious photos. Now the agenda of Congressman “Wide Stance” will be greeted with derision no matter its particulars, because Mr. Congressman has only one reputation meter, and it is irreparably stationed in the single digits.

Or consider an actor with political ambitions. A reputation that brings in millions of dollars in box office is likewise good for millions of votes towards political office. Once again, there is only one reputation meter.

We further observe that (a) reputations are much easier to destroy than to build up and (b) external attacks are far less effective in this regard than verbal self-immolation.2 In our dream world, then, the Washington Post, the EEOC, and the SPLC (among countless others) would permanently discredit themselves before the collapse, such that they had no stake in the aftermath.

Our insight is that this is, indeed, possible, that one man’s external push can cause “self-immolation” or verbal suicide. Consider once again the original proposal:

  1. Get a government, media, or nonprofit job, ideally as a system administrator

  2. Obtain emails and files demonstrating wrongdoing

  3. Upload them to the Internet as an anonymous whistleblower

  4. Only quit a few months later, well after the firestorm

Remember that government, media, and nonprofit organizations are seeking people with your talents. Aside from a few notable exceptions, these groups are simply not technically sophisticated and are desperate for computer talent.

You are going to join them. You’ll lowball them on your usual figure. You do everything you need to do until you have access to the right files.

And then you will end them.

Can you imagine what it will do to the credibility of the Washington Post once its internal emails during campaign 2008 are spread across the Internet?

Can you imagine what will remain of the SPLC when their internal fundraising strategy discussions and financial statements are available for all to see?

You need not imagine it. You can achieve this now, by yourself, telling no one, requiring no resources other than your own gumption and fortitude.

A million Climategates now. A million ACORNs now. A million Journolists now.

Leak anonymously and damn them with their own words. The Left cannot counterattack when its citadels are all simultaneously aflame, when every three-letter government agency, two bit nonprofit, and One World advocate stands naked and exposed before the all seeing eye of the Internet.

Join. Leak. Win. Just pick a target and do it.

An Inconvenient Truth: Waiting for “Superman” to Save Education is akin to Waiting for Godot

An Inconvenient Truth: Waiting for “Superman” to Save Education is akin to Waiting for Godot

http://stuffblackpeopledontlike.blogspot.com/

Time magazine asked an important question last week: “What makes a school great?”

Devoting many pages of deadwood to bemoaning the current state of K-12 education in America, Time reports:

Waiting for “Superman” is a new film about America’s malfunctioning education system by Davis Guggenheim, the Academy Award-winning director of An Inconvenient Truth, a movie that took on another mind-numbingly complex issue and, confounding all logic, grossed $50 million worldwide — and changed the way many Americans think about climate change.

Scheduled to be released on Sept. 24, Waiting for “Superman” is a documentary that follows five kids and their parents as they try to escape their neighborhood public schools for higher-performing public charter schools. The movie explains how it could be that the U.S. since 1971 has more than doubled the money it spends per pupil, yet still trails most rich nations in science and math scores.

SBPDL picked up the book companion to the movie Waiting for “Superman” while traveling and realized that regardless of the money, time and effort exerted a majority of students will always look up at the sky awaiting the arrival of an academic Superman to impart knowledge upon them.

Not even the Justice League of America could provide positive intervention at this point to uplift failing students and yet the continued allocation of available educational resources (both public and private) are spent and dispensed trying to close the proverbial Grand Canyon, er, racial gap in scholastic achievement.

After finishing Waiting for “Superman” it became apparent that the ultimate inconvenient truth that few wish to acknowledge is the pattern of failure that accompanies one group wherever they reside in the United States.

It’s not bad schools that create, by osmosis, bad students; its bad students performing poorly on standardized tests, disrupting classes repeatedly requiring expulsion; and a lack of parental involvement that ensures the maintenance of bad schools.

No matter how many Ivy League graduates enter the ranks of Teach for America and attempt to impart knowledge on would-be professional athletes; Superman will still reside in his Fortress of Solitude and refuse to intervene on behalf of the perpetual, cognitively disinclined.

Many children would have better luck Waiting for Godot than Waiting for “Superman” as no amount of money, praying or divine intervention by highly educated Crusading White Pedagogues will bring about an academic revolution where it is biologically impossible to transpire.  The racial gap will remain, while intellectuals and education specialists masquerading as Vladimir and Estragon debate the next breakthrough in teaching that will finally level the playing field, ushering an era of scholastic equality.
Whenever such an innovation appears that threatens to remove the inequities – the source of such difference is anything but nature – the odds are overwhelming that fraud is a close-associate. Well, that or a colossal dumbing-down of the test to ensure everyone passes.
You see, in Black Run America (BRA) the pursuit of life and liberty is superseded by the ceaseless quest of enhancing Black happiness. Every amount of energy must be manifested to close the racial gap in learning, since education is a barometer of success. After all, why must Black people continue to suffer the indignity of working as barbers and postal employees in such high numbers?

An inconvenient truth confronting those who made Waiting for “Superman” is simply this: Waiting on “Lex Luthor” makes more sense. The arch-nemesis of Superman, it would take a man of Luthor’s integrity to admit the truth that not everyone is capable of producing grades worthy of admittance to college; learning advanced trigonometry or understanding quantum physics; and that some people will be left behind, no matter the effort exerted.
Not everyone has the scholastic aptitude or intelligence to learn at the same rate and many of those left behind become a general nuisance to the overall learning environment and distract those who yearn for education.
It’s time to realize that no amount of nurture can supplant the injustices of nature, regardless of the amount of private and public money provided or time and tutelage volunteered. However, a recent book by Stuart Beck argues that desegregation spawned a culture that finds the malady of acting white synonymous with excelling at school:

But suppose integration doesn’t change the culture of underperformance? What if integration inadvertently created that culture in the first place? This is the startling hypothesis of Stuart Buck’s Acting White: The Ironic Legacy of Desegregation. Buck argues that the culture of academic underachievement among black students was unknown before the late 1960s.

It was desegregation that destroyed thriving black schools where black faculty were role models and nurtured excellence among black students. In the most compelling chapter of Acting White, Buck describes that process and the anguished reactions of the black students, teachers, and communities that had come to depend on the rich educational and social resource in their midst.

Buck draws on empirical studies that suggest a correlation between integrated schools and social disapproval of academic success among black students. He also cites the history of desegregation’s effect on black communities and interviews with black students to back up a largely compelling—and thoroughly disturbing—story.

If this hypothesis is correct, then we have spent perhaps more than a quadrillion dollars for naught. Then again, Black people in North Carolina find any attempt of the ending of forced busing a harbinger of the reinstitution of academic segregation, which a Black intellectual argues was a net positive for Black education:

Protesters and police scuffled Tuesday at a school board meeting in North Carolina over claims that a new busing system would resegregate schools, roiling racial tensions reminiscent of the 1960s.

Nineteen people were arrested, including the head of state NAACP chapter who was banned from the meeting after a trespassing arrest at a June school board gathering.
“We know that our cause is right,” the Rev. William Barber said shortly before police put plastic handcuffs on his wrists before the meeting started.

Inside, more than a dozen demonstrators disrupted the meeting by gathering around a podium, chanting and singing against the board’s policies.

After several minutes, Raleigh police intervened and asked them to leave. When they refused, the officers grabbed arms and tried to arrest the protesters. One child was caught in the pushing and shoving, as was school board member Keith Sutton, who was nearly arrested before authorities realized who he was.

“Hey, hey, ho, ho, resegregation has got to go,” some protesters chanted.

SBPDL proposes we no longer practice Waiting for “Superman”, for this is as absurd an action as Waiting for Godot. We should instead practice Waiting for Meteor Man, an authentically Black protagonist who has amazing superpowers that would help bridge the racial gap:

Jefferson Reed is a mild mannered school teacher in Washington D.C.. His neighborhood is terrorized by a local gang called the Golden Lords. One night, Jeff steps in to rescue a woman from the gang, only to end up running from them himself. Hiding in a garbage dumpster, he manages to escape, and as he climbs out of it, he is struck down by a glowing green meteorite which crashes down from the sky. His spine is crushed and he receives severe burns. A small fragment of the meteor was left over and was taken by a silent vagrant (Bill Cosby). Reed awakens several days later in the hospital, but when his bandages are taken off, he is miraculously healed from all his injuries.

Jeff soon discovers the meteorite has left him with other abilities too, such as flight, x-ray vision, superhuman strength, invulnerability, healing powers, absorb a book’s content by touch, freezing breath, telepathy with dogs and telekinesis. Confiding this to his parents (Robert Guillaume and Marla Gibbs), he is convinced by them to use his powers to try and help the community. His mother designs a costume for him, and as The Meteor Man, he takes on the Golden Lords and their leader Simon Caine (Roy Fegan). He shuts down a crack house, stops a robbery, and unites the Crips, Bloods and the police.

Perhaps it’s Meteor Man that Washington DC Black voters want to run their city schools, instead of that Asian lady. Problem: Meteor Man can only remember a books content for 30-seconds after touching it, so his tutelage on matters concerning the SAT/ACT/LSAT/MCAT/GMAT wouldn’t be exactly prodigious.
Getting back to the question posed by Time, we can only provide the following answer: schools in these areas.

What do you think?

We’ll keep Waiting for Meteor Man while Disingenuous White Liberals, Crusading White Pedagogues and the entire education establishment keeps looking out for Godot.

We understand he provides the key to finally eradicating the racial gap in education.

Tribes vs. Individuals

Tribes vs. Individuals

or, Why Democracy Doesn’t Work In Most Of The World

For most of recorded human history, people have organized their lives into tribes. The most recent forms of tyrannical governance around the world seek to either subjugate or destroy tribes. But those tyrannies don’t seem to understand tribes fully, even though tribalism is sprinkled throughout their lives.

I’m writing this to explain why you should care about tribes, and how your everyday life is affected by tribalism.

For the purpose of this article, I am going to loosely define the word “democracy” as “any form of governance that allows its members to vote on outcomes that affect the members.” So under this definition, even communist governance qualifies as democracy. And communist countries have not been any more successful dealing with tribes as any other democracy.

For the purpose of this article, the word “tribe” is defined as “a social group comprising numerous families, clans, or generations together with slaves, dependents, or adopted strangers all having a common character, occupation, or interest.”

The western democracies have the individual, the rest of the world has tribes. In democracies, individuals are sovereign. Citizens look for freedom in individuality. But in tribes, the tribe itself is sovereign. Tribesmen find freedom in the group…for the group. Tribes are not democracies, tribes are hierarchies. Tribes have a pecking order, and every member finds its place in that pecking order.

What characteristics define tribes?

• Warrior pride: Tribesmen are not soldiers, they are warriors. “Warrior” is their vocation. They fight for personal, family and tribal honor.
• Perpetual warfare: Tribes are in a constant state of war with other tribes. That is the story of the tribes of the American plains, the tribes of Africa, the tribes of the Old Testament, and the tribes of the “Stans”…Afghani-stan, Paki-stan, Uzbeki-stan, Kazakh-stan, Kyrgyz-stan, Tajiki-stan, Turkmeni-stan.
• Hostility to all outsiders: stems from the quest to perpetuate the tribe. Outsiders threaten the purity of the tribe.
• The obligation of revenge: Time means nothing to a tribe. To the Arabs, the Crusades happened yesterday.
• Suppression of women: Women are not normally allowed to be warriors, but stay within their traditional roles as wives and mothers. Tribes are patriarchic because warriors and tribal leaders are mostly men.
• A code of honor rather than a system of laws. Street gangs are little tribes, and this is the way they function…just like the Watusi and the Hutu of Africa.
• Extreme conservatism. Tribes hate change. Tribes revel in the old ways, and constantly protect the old ways from change.
• Unity with the land: Tribes know how to live off the land, not exploit it. This also means that tribes can subsist in desperate poverty while they fight the invader over time. No invader can defeat the poverty of the tribe.
• Patience: They know from centuries of experience that the invader usually wants immediate benefits, but eventually, they will tire and leave. This is the perfect soil for revenge, since no one stays on alert forever, and revenge can be exacted generations later.
• Capacity for hatred, which is distilled from the entire tribal experience.

Tribes around the world operate within these strictures to a greater or lesser degree. Tribes are the bedrock of human governance…the lowest common denominator of sorts. When some leader decides to unite the tribes under his own leadership, he attempts to build a nation. William Wallace of Scotland tried this, failing in his quest to unite the clans against England. He couldn’t get them to stop tribal squabbles long enough to throw off the tyranny of the English king.

And throughout human history, ambitious leaders have tried to defeat and domesticate tribes…many times to their own peril. Consider the Afghan tribes.

Afghan tribes killed Cyrus the Great of Persia, they defeated Alexander the Great in the 4th century, they defeated the British Empire twice in the 19th century, they defeated the Soviet Union’s Red Army in the 1980s, and are now in the process of kicking the American military’s asses.

Washington is now trying to subjugate the world’s largest tribe, the Pashtun of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Pashtun numbers over 40 million people. DC will not succeed with a couple hundred thousand soldiers on the ground.

Why should you care about tribes? How is your world affected by the tribe?

One of the reasons that Islam is so popular in the world’s tribes is that Islam and tribes have identical values. Islam was created by a tribal leader. Tribal virtues are Islamic virtues. So Islam and the tribe have identical values, and give the same psychological payoff to the adherents. Islam is tribalism writ large. Islam layers on the expansionist evangelical element to tribalism it never had before. Now the warrior code mixes with the hostility to everyone outside the tribe, and now the outsiders are infidels to conquer, subjugate or kill. This is not to say that all Islamists wish to kill infidels, any more than all Christians wish to kill unbelievers. But both are evangelical and both have fringe elements that are hostile to outsiders.

Curiously, Westerners love tribalism in some ways, and fight against it in others.

Westerners teach their armies tribal virtues. The West teaches their police tribal virtues. Football coaches teach their players tribal virtues. But then when it comes to interaction with the tribes of the world, the West seems to forget tribal customs and characteristics entirely. Washington DC doesn’t seem to even notice tribalism’s hostility to democracy as it attempts to force democracy upon the tribes of the Middle East. Consequently, America became embroiled in a war with Middle Eastern tribes from which it cannot extricate itself without admitting defeat…an admission that the haughty DC cannot abide. The USA cannot ever subjugate the Arab and Persian tribes, no matter how much money they waste, nor how many years they keep troops on the ground. So, if you have friends or family in the US military, tribalism affects you because the US military can NEVER defeat the tribes. Your family and friends are simply the raw flesh fed into a meat grinder. And your income, stolen from you at the point of a gun, is burned up in an effort that can never succeed.

Things are the way they are with tribes and we are not going to change them. There will likely NEVER be a successful, long term representative democracy in Islamic countries because democracy is about the individual, and Islam is about the tribe.

So, when some state of the Union secedes, and begins to interact with the other nations of the world for trade, it should understand what tribes understand:

• Power: tribes understand superior power. If you have it, you gain advantage. But they also understand…
• Time.
• Other Tribes: they know tribalism, so they know how tribes function.
• A Deal: Look around the world at tribes. They are all shrewd negotiators. They love a good deal. Deals have mutual benefits.

Any new nation, born of secession, should work with tribalism and not against it. That sensitivity to a culture not its own will stand the new nation in great stead with tribes, and will build a reputation as a trustworthy nation. Such a reputation sets it apart from the dastardly American government in DC.

Does A Constitution Make a People Free?

Does A Constitution Make a People Free?

by Timothy Baldwin

A universal maxim has been admitted before: a “constitution may happen to be free, and the [citizen] not”.[1] America’s founding generation understood this well, and thus, the political systems in America were founded on the notion of the consent of the governed, knowing that a constitution itself does not sufficiently guard against tyranny. Consent of the governed is a principle that involves more than just being able to vote. It has far reaching implications and conclusions which some Americans—especially those in the federal government—may not likely concede or admit, including the right to “alter or abolish” government through the individual and unilateral will of a political and societal body-politic (i.e. State).

Unfortunately, the political systems operating in America today mostly reflect the concept of statism, nationalism and popularism—all of which rarely, if ever, comport to the fundamental maxim of consent of the governed. Despite a society having a written constitution, human experience and nature confirm that most societies—especially as they become diverse, large, complex and immoral—inevitably digress into a rule by the rich, elite and powerful, who convince the masses that they are free, are being governed by their consent and are duty bound to submit to their rule. Even more unfortunately, people can make really good slaves for these Nimrods.

One of the most difficult questions societies have ever faced—and still face—is this: how do we practically bind governments to the limits we establish for the benefit of our individual society and our posterity? Human experience provides this answer: a written constitution does not contain the magical formula to restrain government. Much more is needed. Ultimately, a natural right and element must exist to provide each society with a means of securing their freedom and happiness, for virtually all human ingredients mixed together create the impossibility that a constitution will adequately restrain government. America’s 1776 generation recognized this truth and expressed it repeatedly. James Madison puts the ineffectiveness of the constitution as a practical barrier to government usurpation this way:

“[P]ower is of an encroaching nature, and that it ought to be effectually restrained from passing the limits assigned to it…What this security ought to be, is the great problem to be solved. Will it be sufficient to mark, with precision, the boundaries of these departments, in the constitution of the government, and to trust to these parchment barriers against the encroaching spirit of power?”[2]

America’s own history confirms Madison’s account of mere parchment barriers. What makes the parchment even more ineffectual is when over a period of more than two centuries the societal composition completely changes its dynamic, nature and element. Constitutions are made for society—not vice versa. Thus, constitutions require certain pre-existing societal conditions for the constitution to be effective and meaningful. When society changes over hundreds of years, the constitutions governing the original society simply do not have the same meaning, application or effect upon the new society. Once society’s nature changes, getting back to a constitution’s original state is simply impossible. Political genius, Emer De Vattel, admits this much in his famous volume, The Law of Nations (which was used as legal authority by founding fathers such as Patrick Henry). He says concerning the use of constitutions:

“The perfection of a state, and its aptitude to attain the ENDS OF SOCIETY, must then depend on its constitution: consequently the most important concern of a nation that forms a political society, and its first and most essential duty towards itself, is to CHOOSE THE BEST CONSTITUTION POSSIBLE, and that MOST SUITABLE TO ITS CIRCUMSTANCES. When it makes this choice, it lays the foundation of its own PRESERVATION, SAFETY, PERFECTION, AND HAPPINESS: — it cannot take too much care in placing these on a solid basis.”[3]

As noted by Vattel, there are a few key ingredients that must exist regarding the making or unmaking of a constitution: (1) the ends or purpose of society, (2) the choice (i.e. consent) of each generation;[4] (3) the circumstances of society, and (4) the natural laws of “preservation, safety, perfection and happiness”. When any one of these elements is missing, the constitution will have little bearing on government operation, and circumstances would require the various societies to form new constitutions, political associations and unions.

Despite the claims of some well-meaning Americans today, the United States Constitution was not intended and could never have been fathomed to be suitable for all people and all times. One of the founders said that the U.S. Constitution was founded for a “moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Of course by “moral and religious”, John Adams most definitely meant Christian morals and the Christian religion, for Adams said on another occasion:

“The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were…the general principles of Christianity…I will avow that I then believed, and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God; and that those principles of liberty are as unalterable as human nature.”[5]

That a constitution could be ratified hundreds of years ago for all people and all times clearly contradicts not only human nature, natural law and human experience, but also the understood political maxims of the 1770s and 1780s. It is for this reason that the United States cannot “spread democracy” across the world by military force. As Vattel says, constitutions are formed for particular societal circumstances, lest freedom should suffer and government gain too strong a hold on individuals and society. How can an objective student look at the circumstances of 1787 America compared to 2010 America and propose that the founding generation would have formed the union that exists today under the current constitution? Even the 1787 constitution in its theoretical, experimental, abuses-yet-discovered form barely mustered the approval of a small majority in the 1787 constitutional convention. Had some of the societal circumstances slightly changed, the U.S. Constitution would have never been ratified.

There was much and serious opposition to the U.S. Constitution even in 1787 and that was with only thirteen societies totaling only 3.5 million people whose beliefs, morals and philosophy were largely mirrored, considering their common ancestry, language and custom; their shared Christian religion; their shared opposition to Great Britain; the sparsely-populated States; and their mainly-agricultural way of life,[6] to name a few. Serious opposition to the U.S. Constitution existed even when the federal government was considered much weaker than the States; the federal government’s purposes were expressly limited; there was no technology which allowed the federal government to look at the freckles on your face from a satellite in space; war-drones could not fight for the federal government against the States from an unknown, private room half way across the world by remote control; the federal government could not through a machine pinpoint the location of a firearm being shot from 200 miles away, detecting the caliber and number of shots fired; each State possessed an active militia that outnumbered the federal government’s standing army and possessed comparable weaponry; the people felt that the States should retain to themselves the vast bulk of governmental responsibility; and so on. Do studious Americans honestly believe that the founding generation would have not heeded the warnings of statesmen such as Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams not to form one centralized government with the powers granted to it by the U.S. Constitution had their society existed then as it does now?

Indeed the circumstances of America in 2010 require a reforming of the union (and perhaps even some of the States), just as Patrick Henry—among other statesmen—proposed in 1787. The purpose of a constitution, political unions and government formation is for the “preservation, safety, perfection, and happiness” of the people, as Vattel states, as well as the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The U.S. Constitution as applied today undermines the very purpose of society forming unions and government—especially the society of 1787. In similarity to the British Constitution of 1776 and how the colonies ultimately viewed it, the U.S. Constitution today only perpetuates the power and control of the federal government over the sovereignty of the States and the lives of hundreds of millions in America—even across the world. There would not be one knowledgeable person today who would deny that the union as formed in 1787 no more exists in 2010 and that America’s societies today in no way reflect the societies forming the U.S. Constitution. So how can we not see the serious error in positing that the people in 2010 are bound to remain in the union formed in 1787 by people who have been dead for over two hundred years when the circumstances in which the constitution was ratified have not existed for over one hundred and fifty years?

Revering a constitution over the natural freedoms, liberties and rights is simply wrong. Beholding the image of an idea at the exclusion of the substance of life distorts common sense. Focusing on what once was to the exclusion of what should be shirks our duty to fellow-man and posterity. Even the founding generation only held on to their British Constitution for approximately ten years after more serious conflict arose between Great Britain and the colonies. Was their plight direr than ours today? Many would say no. While they loved the rights and principles forming the British constitution (which took literally hundreds of years, the deaths of thousands and the arduous labor of millions), they also realized that the British Constitution did nothing more for them than keep them connected to a political system which they deemed harmful to those revered rights. Their view of a constitution reflects more of the description given by Vattel:

“This constitution is in fact NOTHING MORE THAN the establishment of the order in which a nation proposes to labour in common for OBTAINING THOSE ADVANTAGES with a view to which the political society was established.”[7]

Clearly, when the execution and application of a constitution distorts and twists the “establishment of the order” and no longer obtains the “advantages” for which the constitution was established, then the parchment of the constitution no longer serves its purpose. This ineffectuality reflects a bigger problem of society, which can never be resolved through the force of government nor through the perpetual union of the same societies attributing to the demoralization of the constitution’s ineffectiveness. Upon such a happening, the constitution “is in fact nothing more than the [continuation] of the order…for [forcing] those [dis]advantages” against society.

At some point, separation is required and is necessary to reform political society, unions and constitutions for the peace, happiness and safety of the people composing those political systems. This position has been recently confirmed by the United States federal government. Regarding the Federal Republic of Sudan, the U.S. federal government has taken the political position that Southern Sudan has the right to and should secede from the constitutional republic of Sudan and to become an independent State. The federal government has taken this position despite the fact that the Sudan Constitution claims to be united, establishes its own supremacy and expressly provides for a constitutional amendment process, among other similar U.S.-Constitution-provisions which some in America use to argue that no State in America has a right to secede from the constitution and thus union. Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, expressed that the “United States must figure out how to convince political leaders in Khartoum that it’s ‘worth their while to peacefully accept an independent south [Sudan]’.”[8]

Interestingly, when it comes to the States’ seceding from the existing American union, all of a sudden, the federal government is ready and willing to kill the persons making such an attempt. So, who decides when a right of secession exists?—the federal government or one branch—the judiciary—of the federal government!? Why is it good for South Sudan to secede but not good for the States? Who decides when it is good?—the federal government or the people of the States?! Who draws the line of difference between (unlawful) sedition and (righteous) insurrection?—the U.S. Supreme Court?!

Despite the growing acknowledgement among Americans that the political system of the current United States union is irretrievably broken to restore it to its original form of 1787, some still refuse to recognize a re-forming of the union—via secession—to be a viable answer of our plight. These naysayers emotionally attach this reason for perpetual union: “America is the greatest nation in the world. Our constitution is the best in the world. Without the U.S. Constitution, we will no longer be free”, and so on. This simply reflects ignorance and shallow-thinking. It is not good enough and is flawed logic. Real reasoning and political science must be studied and analyzed for true freedom to flourish in the American States once again. Once a true understanding illuminates the minds of freedom-loving, self-governing, responsible Americans, the necessary and appropriate steps can be taken to restore freedom in societies.

Anti-racist, or anti-white?

Anti-racist, or anti-white?

by Adelheim

We have all heard politicians talk about diversity, tolerance, understanding, multiculturalism, immigration, integration, assimilation, the melting pot, and so on.  What do they mean by this?  And what is their long-term goal?

“The goal of abolishing the white race is on its face so desirable that some may find it hard to believe that it could incur any opposition other than from committed white supremacists.”

So says former Harvard Professor Noel Ignatiev, whose magazine is called Race Traitor.

Anti-racists will rarely admit their goal as clearly as Professor Ignatiev does.  Anti-racists generally will not call themselves “race traitors” or “anti-white,” nor will they call white genocide their goal. Instead of saying it directly, they call themselves “anti-racist” and then argue for “a melting pot” where all will be mixed and become brown.

This goal of abolishing the white race can be divided into four basic stages:

(1) The demonization of whites. Another term for this is what is often referred to as “white guilt”;

(2) Third world immigration into all white countries and only into white countries;

(3) Forced integration as the first step towards assimilation. Assimilation is not directly forced but everybody who opposes it is condemned for being “racist”;

(4) In addition, anyone who speaks out against any part of the process of white genocide will be denounced as a “racist”, or as a “white supremacist”, or as a “naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews.”

The demonization of whites, i.e. the white guilt complex, makes white people accept non-white immigration, integration and assimilation, leading to a melting pot where all formerly white countries turn brown, thus eventually eliminating the white race.

Consider the arguments that the so-called anti-racists use:

Why must white countries have immigration? A commonly used argument for why America must accept immigration is because white people took the land away from the native Americans. If that really was the case one might start to wonder why Germany must accept immigrants. For as we all know, Germans never took their land away from Indians or any other non-white group.

Then you will notice that anti-racists change their argument. They will now talk about the evil Nazis, Hitler, and the Holocaust. They say it would be a disgrace if Germany, with such a history, would discriminate and not take in non-whites.

So what about Britain and France? Britain and France never took their land from anyone nor did they support Hitler. Notice that the anti-racists change their arguments again and pretend to be objectively interested in former colonial powers taking in immigrants from former colonies.

What about Iceland? The people of Iceland did not take the land away from anyone, nor did they support Hitler, nor did they have any colonies. Again the anti-racists will change their arguments in order to support immigration and say that Iceland has an ageing population needing more workers.

If you have argued with so-called anti-racists, you will notice that they always have many arguments for why white countries must have immigration. These arguments, taken as single cases, may seem genuine.

However, consider Japan: Japan was allied with Hitler, had colonies and also has an ageing population. But Japan does not have massive third world immigration. Do anti-racists condemn Japan, and accuse Japan of being a racist country? No! That is because anti-racists are purely anti-white, not anti-Asian.

Anyone who opposes this agenda is automatically accused of being racist.

The agenda says that the white race is a social construct … except when someone is to be blamed.

Another argument is that the white race does not exist and therefore there is no good reason to preserve it. Who is white, the anti-whites will ask?

Anti-whites pretend to have problems with identifying who is white and who is not when people who want to preserve the white race confront them. But at the same time they have no problems identifying who is white when they talk about slavery, colonization, the Holocaust, discrimination, racism and so on.

Anti-racists know, as does everybody, who is white and who is not. The reason they deny the existence of the white race is because they are justifying white genocide. And remember: nothing justifies genocide!

“Anti-racist” is just a code word for anti-white.

Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide from 1948 defines genocide as any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:

(a) Killing members of the group;

(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to
bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Anti-racists, as we know, are anti-white. They are going after all white countries and only white countries. Through their forcing of immigration, integration and assimilation into all white countries, and only white countries, they have shown their intent to destroy the white race in whole. They are deliberately inflicting on the white race conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole.

Whatever weapons these anti-whites come up with, whether the lynching of blacks in the American South in times long gone, or the mass killing of Jews in Germany three generations ago, it is all to justify genocide against the completely innocent generations of whites today.

These anti-whites think this way. Whatever has been done in the past or whatever is being done in the present, it can all be used to justify the genocide and elimination of the white race. Period.

What is our goal as whites?

We who are pro-white want to preserve our race. We believe that all races have the right to exist, including our race. And it is usually when we say this, and include our race, that these people who call themselves anti-racists get mad. We are fighting for our existence, for the right to live.

In the worldview of an anti-white, there is simply no place for white people. In contrast, according to our worldview there is a place for all races, including the white race.

Fragile America

Fragile America

The extraordinarily rapid descent into anarchy and opportunistic lawlessness in New Orleans holds certain implications for the future of America.  To be precise, a non-white majority America simply will not be like the white majority America of our past.  The “ties which bind” have their utility.  Without them all is unconstrained-

An explosion at a chemical depot jolted residents awake early Friday, illuminating the pre-dawn sky with red and orange flames over a city awash in corpses and under siege from looters.  There were no immediate reports of injuries ….  Vibrations from the blast along the Mississippi River and a few miles east of the French Quarter were felt all the way downtown.  A series of smaller blasts followed and then a cyclone of acrid, black smoke ….

To jittery residents of New Orleans, it was yet another fearful sight in a city that has deteriorated rapidly since Katrina slammed ashore Monday morning … Fistfights and fires erupted amid a seething sea of tense, suffering people who waited in a lines that stretched a half-mile to board yellow school buses.  The looting continued.

There have been reports of killings and rapes as well.

We have individuals who are getting raped, we have individuals who are getting beaten,” Compass said … “Tourists are walking in that direction and they are getting preyed upon.”

Well, then, it seems that the realities of multicultural America are coming to the fore, no?  In only a few days post-hurricane, a major American city has collapsed into total and complete Third-World anarchy.  Where is all the Constitutional Patriotism in New Orleans?  How about “strict policing?” Here is the rhetoric:-

Gov. Kathleen Blanco called the looters “hoodlums” and issued a warning to lawbreakers: Hundreds of National Guard troops hardened on the battlefield Iraq have landed in New Orleans.  “They have M-16s and they’re locked and loaded,” she said.  “These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will.”

And here is the reality of what actually happens:-

At the Superdome, group of refugees broke through a line of heavily armed National Guardsmen in a scramble to get on to the buses.

Hmm…I guess the colored crowd overcame the heavily armed guardsmen.  More “strict policing” in action:-

Nearby, about 15,000 to 20,000 people who had taken shelter at New Orleans Convention Center grew ever more hostile after waiting for buses for days amid the filth and the dead … Police Chief Eddie Compass said there was such a crush around a squad of 88 officers that they retreated when they went in to check out reports of assaults … A military helicopter tried to land at the convention center several times to drop off food and water.  But the rushing crowd forced the choppers to back off.

Yes indeed, if the “battle hardened” Guardsmen are having troubles, what to expect of the police?

A day after Nagin took 1,500 police officers off search-and-rescue duty to try to restore order in the streets there were continued reports of looting, shootings, gunfire and carjackings … Tourist Debbie Durso of Washington, Mich., said she asked a police officer for assistance and his response was, “‘Go to hell — it’s every man for himself.”… But when some hospitals try to airlift patients Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Cheri Ben-Iesan said, “There are people just taking pot-shots at police and at helicopters, telling them, `You better come get my family.” … To make matters worse the chief of the Louisiana State Police said he heard of numerous instances of New Orleans police officers — many of whom from flooded areas — turning in their badges … “They indicated that they had lost everything and didn’t feel that it was worth them going back to take fire from looters and losing their lives,” Col. Henry Whitehorn said.

So, neither the military nor the police were able to restore order by the time this article was online (Friday morning).  “Heavily armed” and “battle hardened” Guardsmen were swept away by crowds who also turned back military helicopters.  The police, essentially, abandoned the city with an attitude of “every man for himself.” And this is happening in a majority-white America with the “conservative Republican” George Bush as president.

Probably, there will be more days yet of looting, raping and killing.  But in the midst of the heat, filth and stench the rampaging coloreds will get tired and slacken off.  Already, the “heavily armed” Guardsmen are feeling safe enough to start shooting a few looters here and there.  Five out of eight gang-members who launched a failed attack on government contractors were shot dead yesterday.

After a week of complete anarchy the establishment is finally regaining control.  That will make the “law and order” crowd feel all warm and cosy about things again, with the horrors of the preceding days completely forgotten.  But let us not forget.  Let us ponder the meanings of an event in which not even the National Guard, much less the local police, was able to restore order at the height of the insurrection, and has proven effective only after the looters are weakened through exhaustion and lack of food and water.  Let us ponder the fragility of civilisation in modern, multi-racial America.  Let us question the level of competency which really obtains in modern, multiracial America.  Let us ask when our concerns for white America will be heard, and when “civil rights activists” will start complaining about the victims of the violence in New Orleans?  Let us ask what all the self-delusion and myopia of the power-elite portends for those victims’ future, if they still have one … and ours?

What be da brothas and sistas up to?

Question: What do you think the African-American ladies and African-American gentlemen are doing in the picture shown below?

Negroes aka blacks aka African-Americans looting a grocery store while Hurricane Katrina devastates New Orleans, Louisiana.

Answer: Taking advantage of the devastation wrought by hurricane Katrina…by looting a grocery store!

The story:

Reports of looting in New Orleans

Mon Aug 29 2005 22:37:31 ET

Police with automatic weapons were called to patrol a grocery store after looters went on a rampage, WWL-TV reports.

Police with automatic weapons were called to patrol a grocery store after looters went on a rampage there, grabbing groceries and ripping apart ATMs. The pharmacy was ransacked and merchandise was thrown all around the store.

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour said looting will not be tolerated in his state.

“I have instructed the highway patrol and the National Guard to treat looters ruthlessly,” Barbour said. “Looting will not be not be tolerated and rules of engagement will be as aggressive as the law allows.”

Check out the following screen captures of a video shot by a TV cameraman, which show the looting to be a family affair; the black children learning how to be a model citizen from their elders:

See the video by clicking here; the video clearly shows what the report above omits, namely that the looters are black.

Pathetic Negroes!  They can’t even restrain themselves when tragedy strikes.  It is not that American Negroes are starving; visit any Winn-Dixie store in the Southern U.S. and you will see a huge number of grotesquely obese Negroes such as the examples below, and these Negroes pay for their shopping cart—overflowing with bacon, fried chicken, etc.—with food stamps to boot!

Now, how does one explain widespread looting of a grocery store by [American] blacks who typically have plenty to eat and are often overfed, especially how they can do something like this without any concern that they will be adding to the devastating damage/losses caused by hurricane Katrina?

Excerpts from AP writer Allen G. Breed:

In some cases, looting on Tuesday took place in full view of police and National Guard troops.

One man with an armload of clothes even asked a policeman, “can I borrow your car?”

What is a stronger word than chutzpah?

Around the corner on Canal Street, the main thoroughfare in the central business district, people sloshed headlong through hip-deep water as looters ripped open the steel gates on the front of several clothing and jewelry stores.

Looters filled industrial-sized garbage cans with clothing and jewelry and floated them down the street on bits of plywood and insulation as National Guard lumbered by.

At a Walgreen’s drug store in the French Quarter, people were running out with grocery baskets and coolers full of soft drinks, chips and diapers.

When police finally showed up, a young boy stood in the door screaming, “86! 86!” – the radio code for police – and the crowd scattered.

Denise Bollinger, a tourist from Philadelphia, stood outside and snapped pictures in amazement.  “It’s downtown Baghdad,” the housewife said. “It’s insane. I’ve wanted to come here for 10 years. I thought this was a sophisticated city. I guess not.”

New Orleans a sophisticated city?  Denise, are you insane?  New Orleans is at least two-thirds black!

Some in the crowd splashed into the waist-deep water like giddy children at the beach.

No doubt jubilant, thanks to all the looting opportunities.

More disturbing news:

Children’s Hospital under siege

Tuesday, 11:45 p.m.

Late Tuesday, Gov. Blanco spokeswoman Denise Bottcher described a disturbing scene unfolding in uptown New Orleans, where looters were trying to break into Children’s Hospital.

Bottcher said the director of the hospital fears for the safety of the staff and the 100 kids inside the hospital. The director said the hospital is locked, but that the looters were trying to break in and had gathered outside the facility.

The director has sought help from the police, but, due to rising flood waters, police have not been able to respond.

Bottcher said Blanco has been told of the situation and has informed the National Guard. However, Bottcher said, the National Guard has also been unable to respond.

Sick!

Further updates (Sep 1):

When I first posted this news item, it was premature for Negroes to be looting food, although given the eventual flooding of most of the city, it would make sense for people to resort to stealing food and water for survival, as some apologists for black behavior in New Orleans have started to point out, but it would be interesting to have these apologists try to explain looted items such as alcoholic beverages, clothing, jewelry, shoes, sporting goods, guns, electronic equipment, DVDs and anything else the Negroes could get their hands on, in addition to wanton destruction of property while looting, looting of nursing homes and hospitals, and all this to such a large extent that it prompted city officials to make quelling the anarchy the top priority instead of rescuing people.  The apologists also need to explain the following.

Excerpts from an MSNBC report:

Storm victims were raped and beaten, fights and fires broke out, corpses lay out in the open, and rescue helicopters and law enforcement officers were shot at as parts of hurricane-flooded New Orleans descended into anarchy Thursday.

National Guardsmen poured in to help restore order and stop the looting, carjackings and gunfire that have gripped New Orleans in the days since Hurricane Katrina plunged much of the city underwater.

“We are out here like pure animals. We don’t have help,” the Rev. Issac Clark, 68, said outside the New Orleans Convention Center, where corpses lay in the open and evacuees complained that they were dropped off and given nothing — no food, no water, no medicine.

Well, Rev. Clark, the Negroes are behaving like wild animals, and their wild behavior is hampering rescue efforts, as is additionally evident from the following statements from the same MSNBC report above.

A military helicopter tried to land at the convention center several times to drop off food and water. But the rushing crowd forced the choppers to back off. Troopers then tossed the supplies to the crowd from 10 feet off the ground and flew away.

Across New Orleans, rescuers themselves came under attack from storm victims.  “Hospitals are trying to evacuate,” said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Cheri Ben-Iesan, spokesman at the city emergency operations center.  “At every one of them, there are reports that as the helicopters come in people are shooting at them. There are people just taking potshots at police and at helicopters, telling them, ‘You better come get my family,”’ Ben-Iesan said.  Some Federal Emergency Management rescue operations were suspended in areas where gunfire has broken out, Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke said in Washington. “In areas where our employees have been determined to potentially be in danger, we have pulled back,” he said.

There is also this interesting statement from a Seattle Times report concerning the wild behavior of New Orleans’ Negroes:

But disaster-response researchers are intrigued, especially because this behavior has been far from the norm. Sociologists cite more than 50 years of research showing that widespread looting after a natural disaster is rare.

Indeed, hurricane Katrina has also wreaked havoc in Mandeville, Louisiana, knocking out electricity and phone service, but there is hardly any looting or crime there…Mandeville is 96% white.  Civilized people will steal food and water for survival if there is no other option, but Negroes are a different matter.

One of several examples of Negro incompetence is shown below.  New Orleans’ Negro Mayor Nagin not only issued an evacuation order—before the hurricane struck—after pressure from the federal government, but for all of Nagin’s complaining about the alleged delayed federal response, it did not occur to Nagin to use city buses to evacuate New Orleans’ residents lacking transport; the buses subsequently were partly submerged in the flooding:

An earlier version of this article appeared in the magazine Identity, published by the British National Party.

Over the past few decades, British society, culture, and politics have increasingly come under the sway of America. Our common language has always made it particularly easy for us to influence each other, but, with the expansion of the media through cable and satellite TV, and the spread of ‘viral trends’ like blogging, internet sharing, and social media, this process is rapidly accelerating, with most of the influence flowing one way, from America to Britain, rather than the other way round.

Both in terms of substance and style, British politics has been particularly susceptible to American influences. In the past few years our political establishment has accepted ideas like multiculturalism, political correctness, and affirmative action that clearly stem from America’s unique conditions as a country with a 300-year history of high immigration, unassimilated indigenous peoples (Red Indians), and a history of racial injustice (domestic slavery). While it may be possible to make a case for some of these ideas in an American context, they have zero relevance to Britain, a country with a history of racial homogeneity going back thousands of years and the proud record of leading the way in abolishing slavery.

In addition to these alien ideas, our political establishment has also slavishly imitated American political techniques, adopting its presidential focus on photogenic ‘zeroes,’ like Tony Blair and David Cameron, and its sleaze-fuelled, media-savvy, spin-laden image politics.

Because of America’s vast influence on our society and political system, it is vital that British nationalists develop a clear understanding of what America is and how this feeds trends in this country and around the World. This is not as easy as it sounds because America is not just a pile of objective facts waiting to be learned. The America you are most likely to encounter is itself the carefully honed product of image manipulation and lies, pushed by some of the most seductive and skilful propagandists on the planet, motivated by a variety of reasons, some sinister, some simply business expedience.

To understand America properly, it is necessary to view it as existing on two levels. First there is the big, transcendent image created through mass media and culture, something that can easily be fed into the World’s TV sets, computers, newspapers, magazines, and multiplexes. This can be called Macro America, a phenomenon that exists in contrast to Micro America, the unreported everyday reality of hundreds of millions of ordinary Americans, which can only be approached by direct experience or careful appreciation of complex facts and data.

Macro America travels easily and is everywhere. Go to your local multiplex, look at ads for Gap clothing, or watch the latest CNN report on “Obamania” and you’ll see it. In this America race is seldom an issue and when it is, it is because a few nasty Neanderthal rednecks make it so. In this America, people of different races coexist in a kind of multiracial heaven. Blacks, Whites, Asians and other races mingle as if ancestors, history, and culture had no more weight than, say, which flavour of ice cream people prefer. In this America, criminals are overwhelmingly White; judges and police chiefs are fine, upstanding Black women and men; and cops almost invariably pair up with someone of a different race – unless, of course, they happen to be the nasty Neanderthal redneck cop at whom we are supposed to throw our popcorn! In this America, the historical contribution of non-Whites to the country’s history is boosted so that you almost wonder what Whites contributed to the creation of their own country.

Even many Americans — Whites insulated from the harsh realities of multiculturalism by affluence or kids brainwashed by an education system run on Marxist lines — swallow this version of America. A recent study asked 2,000 high school students from 50 states to pick the most famous historical figures that were not presidents. Incredibly for a country that gave us such greats as Robert E. Lee, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and General Douglas McArthur, the top three places were all occupied by relative nonentities who just happened to be Black — Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman — showing just how much Macro America is being channelled into American schools.

Although King’s words and actions had some measurable historical impact on American society, the same cannot be said for Parks and Tubman. They are extremely marginal figures, especially Parks, whose claim to fame is that she once refused to sit at the back of a bus. Despite such lightweight historical contributions, these two figures have been artificially boosted by the U.S. education system because they tick not just one politically correct box (Black) but two (Black and Female). The fact that these comparative non-entities are promoted at all reveals that the US education system is much more interested in symbols than in facts.

The Macro America that distorts high school history in this fashion can also be found in the mouths of mainstream politicians, business leaders, diplomats, museum curators, and in the prose and prattle of almost all journalists and reporters employed by the mainstream media.

But this unreal “affirmative and inclusive” version of America is a dangerous lie that costs lives. Nowhere in this version of “reality” is there space for the unpalatable fact that 90 percent of all interracial crime in America is committed by Blacks against Whites, including 934 Black-on-White murders in the USA in 2005. It stands to reason that much of this crime could have been prevented by the victims taking precautions against people who either looked suspicious or whom the victim was unable to judge accurately for racial and cultural reasons. The mistaken belief that such caution was “racist” must have undoubtedly contributed to an unknown number of tragic robberies, rapes, and murders.

Most Americans, because they live close to the realities of Micro America, are less likely to be hoodwinked by the myths of Macro America than people elsewhere in the World. But, because of politically motivated “affirmativeness” (i.e. reverse racism) and the financial imperative of movies and TV shows to appeal to as wide an audience as possible by including positive characters of all the different races in the same stories, American society continues to pump out what is, in effect, absurdist multicultural propaganda.

High School MusicalAlmost any TV show or movie not explicitly about racial problems presents us with an image of America as a harmoniously integrated society with people having partners and friends of different races. In a recent Disney movie High School Musical (2006), aimed at impressionable young people, almost all the characters had best friends and/or boyfriends/girlfriends of a different race. The hero, Troy Bolton, played by the White actor Zac Efron, for example, falls in love with Gabriella, a Hispanic girl, while his best friend Chad is Black. Obviously it is hard to criticize such relationships on a personal level, but the picture this movie presents of carefree racial harmony is one that is simply not found at the Micro level.

Since the civil rights movement of the 1960s, great efforts have been made and billions spent to racially integrate American society, especially the schools, all underpinned by something called “contact theory.” By educating children of different races together, it was assumed that they would effortlessly discover a common humanity that would override their ethnic identity. More than 40 years on, however, the de facto segregation of American schools is actually increasing.

How has this happened? Quite simply by Whites voting with their feet. Rather than see their children’s future endangered by multicultural social experiments, large numbers of Whites have either opted for expensive private education or moved to areas where their children can be educated with children largely of their own race. Efforts to integrate schools have seen Whites become almost non-existent in the public school sector of large urban areas. In Dallas in 2005, only 6 percent of children in state education were White, and, while Macro America likes to portray any unwillingness to associate with non-Whites as bigotry characteristic of poor, uneducated Whites, practically all these kids were from poor families as the more well-off Whites had already fled the system.

A recent study by Michael Emerson and David Sikkink of Rice University shows that the more educated Whites are, the more likely they are to reject out of hand schools with a high proportion of non-Whites. Furthermore, even where schools are integrated on paper, they are often segregated at the micro level, with kids of different races choosing different subjects, clubs, and sports, and holding different proms.

The process is also mutual. Other racial groups also feel a need to segregate. One of the “benefits” that integration was supposed to bring was that it would help close the academic gap between Blacks and Whites. In fact it had the opposite effect. Black students in racially mixed schools are invariably stigmatized as “acting White,” when they do well, an effect that is much less apparent in schools that are overwhelmingly Black.

This is because contact between children of different cultures and races generates confusion, cultural misunderstandings, and stress. This then activates our inherent tribalism, creating identity reinforcement, leading to mutual mistrust, tension and hostility between racial and cultural groups. For these very reasons, the drive to integrate, which once involved bussing kids from different neighbourhoods to make sure they “mixed,” has been greatly relaxed in recent years, allowing schools to re-segregate on the sly.

The naïve White liberal sociologists, like Gunnar Myrdal and Gordon Allport, who initiated this social engineering experiment have nevertheless succeeded at the mythic, macro level of fictitious high schools in Disney movies.

Another goal of the civil rights movement was to create an America where people of different races lived side by side in multiracial neighbourhoods. While Macro America pretends this is a fact, Micro America contradicts it. Even when the gap between Black and White incomes greatly narrowed in the 1990s — thanks largely to “affirmative action” programs that gave Blacks racistly unfair employment and promotion advantages — more affluent Blacks did not move into affluent White neighbourhoods. Instead, to enjoy the comfort that comes from living with people of one’s own race and culture, they created their own affluent Black neighbourhoods.

Whites, meanwhile, in order to maintain their comfort zone in a society where their numbers have dropped from 90 percent of the population in 1960 to around 65 percent today have been on the move. In 1960, Los Angeles was 72 percent White. By 2000, Whites were only 33 percent. During this period, while the myth of a harmonious multiracial Macro America was being fed to the World, America’s Whites were, in effect, fleeing the multiracial reality in droves for small-town or rural White areas.

In almost every case, the micro reality is radically different from the macro myth. Instead of the Black and White buddies familiar to us from such movies as Lethal Weapon and TV series like Miami Vice, the vast majority still associate, marry, go to church, and live in neighbourhoods with their own kind. Even in prison, where people lack the freedom to make choices, Black and Hispanic gangs fight for dominance and White gangs fight for survival, despite an official policy of integration that simply exacerbates these natural tensions.

With British democracy compromised by the growing power of the EU and the refusal of the Lib-Lab-Con parties to countenance a referendum on the new EU constitution, some segments of our media have favourably contrasted democracy in America with our own system. But the fact is that, in America voters are simply being offered two versions of the Marco American fantasy. Candidates like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, globalist representatives of Macro America who favor high-immigration, will face off against globalist, high-immigration-favouring Republicans like John McCain. The Right endorses the same Macro myths of multiracialism as the Left, while much of its voting base lives in gated and guarded monoracial communities.

What makes this all the more tragic is the degree to which Americans are aware of the reigning ideology but refuse to directly challenge it. Rather than calling into question the tyrannical liberal myths of multiculturalism, political correctness, and affirmative action, those that can readily flee to schools and neighbourhoods where they can secretly practice the state heresy of racial self-segregation, while using the thought processes of Orwellian doublethink to claim that they are simply escaping “crime,” “pollution,” “congestion,” or “poor educational standards,” rather than a dysfunctional multiculturalism and the racial and social chaos it brings on the micro level.

What the hypocrisy and schizophrenia of America teaches us is that democracy is not simply a political phenomenon, it is also cultural. Where political leaders represent the common people, we say that that country is a democracy; where they don’t, we call it a tyranny. The yawning chasm between the real concerns and problems of Micro America and the fatuous, vacuous, feel-good rhetoric and image manipulation of Macro America reveals that America is, in effect, a cultural tyranny.

A Tree Dies in Brooklyn

A Tree Dies in Brooklyn

The N.Y. Times has an article that basically sums up so many things about the left, and why I despise them. Here is an example of a plants being more important than the flawed beast man.

Two Tornados hit Brooklyn and Queens, now that is a rare event, I’ll give you that. Although it has happened before. What I find amusing and sad about the article is the subject and the way it was presented.

One person lost their life, not even a New Yorker, but a poor Woman from Pennsylvania that just had the mis fortune of driving through the Apple in Decay. She gets a single paragraph, about 30 words in this 1000 word lament. There was millions of Dollars worth of property damage which is not even mentioned.

Thousands of Trees Killed by New York Tornadoes

As National Weather Service officials declared Friday that two tornadoes had indeed swept into New York City on Thursday, some tree-lined streets in Brooklyn and Queens looked – at least from the air – like Lego masterpieces that angry children had done their best to sweep aside.

Some were more than a century old but still sturdy and doing their jobs. Many others were young and willowy, just getting going. Some of them were inscrutable; no one truly knew them or how they got there. But others felt like old friends. They were wonderful for their blissful shade, to climb, to simply stare at and admire.

They were the most visible evidence of the fleeting but brutal storm that barged through New York City on Thursday evening: the ravaged trees.

There was a beloved scarlet oak that had stood forever in a farm family’s cemetery in Queens. There was a Callery pear that parrots preferred on a street in Brooklyn. Trees that had stories to them that were now prematurely finished.

The tragedy of the storm, which meteorologists said Friday included two tornadoes, was Aline Levakis, 30, from Mechanicsburg, Pa., the sole person to die, when a tree, as it happened, hit her car on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens.

Answer: he’s white

Answer: he’s white

The Daily Mail has the story of eighteen year-old Jamie Bauld, who recently had a charge of racially-aggravated assault against him dropped, following a seven month police investigation. So, what sort of person is Jamie Bauld? The kind of thug who goes out “Paki-bashing” at weekends, perhaps? Well, no. He’s actually a Down’s Syndrome sufferer, with a mental age of five.

The incident that led to the police investigation occurred last September, at the special needs department of his school, Motherwell College. Jamie had an altercation with an Asian girl, who also had special needs, during the course of which he pushed her. Hardly the most heinous of crimes in any context, you might think, and particularly not when both participants have the mental age of primary school children. However, some unknown person clearly felt otherwise. They placed an advertisement in the local paper, asking for witnesses to the “racial assault”, after which the eminently sensible gentlemen of the police force decided that it was worth their while to get involved, and questioned Jamie, prior to charging him with assault. According to his mother, Jamie did not understand the questions that the police were asking him, and simply agreed with every accusation put to him, out of a desire to please his interrogators. She adds that, like many children, he does not actually notice racial differences.

Stealing our heritage

Stealing our heritage

I see that everyone’s favourite race baiter, Trevor Phillips, has told a fringe meeting at the Labour conference that British history is insufficiently “inclusive”, on account of the fact that it is dominated by white people, and has said that it needs to be rewritten, to rectify this fault. Thus, whereas in the past it has always been thought that the Spanish Armada was defeated in part by Lord Howard of Effingham’s fleet, and in part by the vicissitudes of the weather (“God blew, and they were scattered”, etc), children will now learn that, to quote a noted historian (T. Phillips, Esq), “it was the Turks who saved us”. Whether or not this is actually true is irrelevant as far as Phillips is concerned: all that matters for him is that non-whites (and, in this particular instance, Muslims) should be represented as having made a sizeable contribution to the development of British society, throughout the last thousand years or more. Perhaps he will also suggest that, as the 100 Great Black Britons website has laughably claimed, Edward III’s wife, Queen Phillipa, was in fact black, and that, accordingly, her son, the famous “Black Prince”, was a half-caste. Maybe we will now be told that Shakespeare was black. And perhaps that Queen Victoria was Chinese, Dickens Indian, and the Duke of Wellington an Australian Aboriginal.

The fact is, that, regardless of the specifics of what happened to the Spanish Armada, it is simply not true to claim that non-whites have made a substantial contribution to British history. Rather, their contribution has been completely negligible, because their numbers have, historically, been negligible. Our history is overwhelmingly dominated by white people, because we are a historically white country, and those non-whites who now live here are unlikely to have roots in this country stretching back any more than sixty years. This simple fact, of course, is not one which finds favour with the likes of Trevor Phillips. After all, it does tend to undermine the repeated assertion that Britain has always been a “nation of immigrants”.

Trevor Phillips’ demand that our history be rewritten is yet another example of the willingness of many on the liberal-left to abuse the education system in order to further their own ends. It does not matter to them whether what is taught as being British history is true or not. Rather than schools teaching our children what is true, they want our children to be taught what they think ought to be true. And since they think that it ought to be true that Britain was historically multiracial and multicultural, that is what they want other people to believe. I very much doubt that they will actually succeed. No matter what people like Phillips may claim, I think (and hope) that the majority of ordinary people are sufficiently intelligent and well-informed to realise that our society has historically been neither multiracial nor multicultural. But for Phillips and others in the race relations industry to claim that one of our greatest naval victories was in fact someone else’s victory, or that our national heroes, or our greatest writer, were in fact black, constitutes nothing less than a racist assault upon the cultural heritage of the native white British.

Many German socialists rally around “racist” Thilo Sarrazin.

Many German socialists rally around “racist” Thilo Sarrazin.

Thilo Sarrazin, a board member of the German Central Bank, has been viciously attacked by the media for making common sense statements about immigration. For stating that non-European immigration is changing the character of Germany for the worse, and was denounced far and wide as a “racist.”

Thilo Sarrazin is a socialist, and has simply stated that socialism can only be viewed as a practical form of government in a homogeneous society. Across Europe, particularly in the East, many Socialist parties have split between those for and against 3rd world immigration. While many Socialist leaders view 3rd world immigrants as future socialist voters, those with any foresight can see that immigrants are simply coming to abuse the socialist system.

Now his book is a best seller and he has millions of supporters.

By Ian Mosley

An article from Yahoo News reports: “Politicians have rushed to condemn a board member of the German central bank for a new book tackling immigration, but his views have found considerable support among the population at large. Thilo Sarrazin’s book ‘is not convincing, but it has convinced many people,’ said the influential Spiegel magazine, which this week has the Bundesbank executive on its cover, calling him a ‘people’s hero.’ His publisher is rushing to print more copies of ‘Germany Does Itself In” to meet demand. Online retailer Amazon.de has a massive 207 reader reviews on its website, with the average score 4.4 stars out of a possible five.”

The arrogant liberals at Spiegel claim the book is “not convincing” and yet the publisher is having trouble printing up enough books to meet demand, and the author is widely considered a “people’s hero”. White people are already convinced that Muslims don’t belong in Europe. They just need leaders, who will represent them for a change.

The article notes “The Social Democrats (SPD), the centre-left political party Sarrazin belongs to, has been inundated with thousands of letters, emails and phone calls attacking the central bank board’s desire to expel him. ‘Listen to the voice of the people for once,’ Spiegel quoted one of the almost 4,000 emails as saying. In the book, Sarrazin says Europe’s top economy is being undermined, overwhelmed and made more stupid by poorly educated, fast-breeding, badly integrated and unproductive Muslim immigrants and their offspring. ‘If I want to hear the muezzin’s call to prayer, then I’ll go to the Orient,’ he says, saying that allowing in millions of guest workers in the 1960s and 1970s was a gigantic error. He also says that Turkish and Kurdish clans have a long tradition of inbreeding, leading to higher rates of birth defects, and ponders whether this might be one reason for immigrants’ poor school performance.”

At least one of the major nations of Europe needs to just say “No” or “Nein” to Third World immigration. There is no positive side to letting in millions of needy Third World people. They simply load up the welfare roles and take up valuable housing in the big cities, making vast urban areas too filthy, noisy and dangerous for Whites who don’t want to live in Third World slums.

Curiously, Italy has been taking some preliminary actions to expel and exclude non-White invaders. All it will take is one major European nation to rebel against this “suicide pact” of unlimited immigration of needy Third World poor. Then if Italy or Germany can block or expel Third World people, the White people of France and Britain will start objecting to being neck-deep in Muslims and overthrow their sell out, treasonous politicians, who have allowed this invasion in the first place.

When They Come

When They Come

When they come for your guns you won’t have any warning whatsoever.

There won’t be any media coverage in advance of the government’s intentions because they won’t want patriots having the time to react to the news and ferret away most of their ammo and weapons. No, they’ll come in the middle of the night in squads wearing SWAT armor, heavily armed and helmeted, wearing black face stockings to hide their identities, with a federal warrant to both confiscate all your weapons and search your house and property for anything else you may not want them to have. They’ll have a piece of paper with your name, address, description, police record, a short dossier on you, and a list of all weapons you’ve registered like a good, law abiding little sheeple.

If there’s one thing tyrants have learned from centuries of taking over and enslaving nations, it’s to grab all weapons first so the people can’t fight back. These goons will be armed with assault rifles, man killers, because they’ll have cart blanch to shoot all resisters. And if there’s one thing a life of working for and around various government agencies has taught me, it’s that the majority of those working in these professions are bullies by nature. They’ll shoot you alright, and they’ll enjoy it too.

Obongo and gang are part of a very large, very old, and very well planned conspiracy to overthrow the United States using a perfect storm of economic disasters, mud invasion, Jew created laws, civil rights for parasites, and propaganda..and they’re ready. They’ve finally got all their pieces in order and are ready to strike. All that’s left is one final blow to our dying economy, and you can rest assured that’s coming very soon now.

The monsters who planned this evil also knew full well from past experience that the public will always resist. We’re going to have to fight. You might as well face this fact right now. So refusing to relocate your family is not only stupid, it’s downright suicidal. You’ve got to get them out of harm’s way as fast as you can. These bastards are not above holding them as hostages to force you to come in and surrender to them, so you have to hide your Achilles heel.

These pricks will do whatever it takes to overthrow this nation, including bombing entire towns and cities to ash. We are nothing to them. Nothing. You won’t have any “rights”, and don’t expect any mercy.

Tyrants have always…are you listening?…always killed millions of innocent and patriotic people to impose their rule. This has happened every time they’ve taken over a country. Not sometimes, not most of the time, but every time. Russia killed over 30 million. China killed 90 million, and North Vietnam killed 25 million by the time they were finished. And these are just the most recent coups.

All through our bloody history, uncounted millions of innocent people have died at the hands of power mad tyrants and cults like the progressives. And people have always fought back. Sometimes successfully and sometimes they lost. But in every case, millions died regardless.

America will be no exception. A bloodbath is coming, the likes of which this nation has never experienced. It will make the Civil War look like a freaking skirmish. And this is why these bastards want our weapons. They intend to win. And the only way to do that is to strike first. Remove our weapons, then a few short days later arrest every last known white
activist, patriot, conservative, and anyone else they deem a possible threat.

Most of those in this first wave of arrests will be executed. You will be taken to one of the new concentration camps they built, taken into a large metal building with a large drain in the center of the floor to catch the blood, then shot in the back of the head.

Your relatives and friends will be told that you are in prison for treason. Later..much later, they will be informed that you were “shot while trying to escape”. They think that by doing this, they will effectively cut the head off the snake and end the resistance before it starts. Oh yes, they’ve thought about this for a very long time.

So it’s going to take brains and determination on your part to be one step ahead of them..and the executioner. Because if you continue to lay there and hope for the best, you will be killed. Believe me. At least if you fight these bastards we stand a chance of beating them and giving them the justice they so richly deserve. And even if we lose, at least we’ll take a hell of a lot of them with us..

Before this happens..and it could happen at any time, you need to find ways to prevent the confiscation of all your weapons and ammo. Below are some valuable tips on what to do. I strongly advise you act now. Don’t wait. Even one day could make all the difference at this point.

Report It Stolen

Pick out your most valuable and deadly weapon and hide it in a place no one can find. [And where you yourself can't reach it in case of an emergency? Sorry, I'm interrupting...HAC] Make
sure you tell no one where it is, not even your spouse. That’s to save you both if they become suspicious and decide to grill you. She can’t spill what she doesn’t know.

Once it’s reported stolen it will be removed from the confiscation list, and they won’t be looking for it. Not as hard, anyway. They’ll know that many of these reports are lies, but they won’t be able to prove it.

If you bury it, make sure you don’t bury it on your property. They have powerful metal detectors and they’ll use them, believe me. Move it to someplace out in the sticks and bury it in a sealed, water tight container, double wrapped with heavy plastic bags. The same for the ammo. Be
sure to buy as much ammo as you can right now. The supply will be cut off shortly.

Sell off your registered weapons and buy black market guns. The best place for this is at gun shows. These are held regularly all over the country in every state. There are always dealers there that will sell you weapons under the table. Always. It’s very easy to buy one at these shows, and the prices are great. You can sell your registered stuff there as well. Just be sure to get a receipt.

Take the receipt to your local pig shop and report the sale, so the gun will be removed from their list. Gun dealers are supposed to do this but very few do. A gun shop will, but they pay poorly for used guns and rifles. This is a great place to get ammo without having to report your name as well. Check with your local gun shops to find out where and when the next gun show is being held.

These things will help to prevent the enemy from disarming and killing us and our loved ones. I strongly advise all of you to act on my advice immediately. Unless of course you want to give the enemy all your weapons and you want them to kill you and everyone else you care about.

Because if you ignore my advice and continue to lay up and procrastinate, waiting for things to get “a little worse”, you’re going to get caught with your pants down. They are coming soon, and they’re coming without warning. Understand? Without warning! Wouldn’t you if you were them? Of course you would. The signs are all around you folks. It may be next week, next month, or next year..or it could be……tonight.

All the indicators say sooner than later. They can’t wait any longer. They know we’re preparing, and they know that with each day that passes we’re getting more organized and better armed. I wrote this warning and advice for your sake. Please listen or there will come a time when you’ll think back to this article and kick yourself for being a fool..probably as you’re being marched to the execution building. This is no laughing matter my friends. War is upon us whether we want it or not.

So is This Why Black People Want Marijuana Legalized?

So is This Why Black People Want Marijuana Legalized?

http://stuffblackpeopledontlike.blogspot.com/

Sometimes a video provides all of the evidence necessary to support the de-criminalization of marijuana. This story comes to us from Cincinnati, Ohio:

A 21-year-old woman is accused of forcing her 2-year-old daughter to smoke marijuana.

Jessica Gamble of Roselawn is held at the Hamilton County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. She faces one count of corrupting another with drugs.
Gamble forced the child to smoke the drug on June 12 at a residence in the 7400 block of Edgemont Drive, according to the Hamilton County prosecutor’s office.

Video of the incident, captured on Gamble’s cellphone, was given to Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Service, the prosecutor’s office stated in a news release.

“It is unbelievable to watch on video a mother teaching her 2-year-old child how to smoke a joint,” Prosecutor Joseph Deters said. “There are just some people who should never have children.”

The child has been placed with another relative while caseworkers investigate, according to Brian Gregg, spokesman for Job and Family Services.
A second person also was charged in connection with the alleged incident. Information on that suspect was not available.

Of course this shouldn’t be a crime, as we all know drug laws are inherently racist. It’s just a life-style choice! Is it any wonder that the NAACP considers the legalization of marijuana a Civil Rights issue?:

Legalizing marijuana is a civil rights issue, according to one of California’s most prominent African-American advocacy groups.

The California State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, led by President Alice Huffman, recently announced its “unconditional endorsement” for Proposition 19, a legislative initiative on the November ballot that would legalize the recreational use of marijuana in California.

Huffman said African-Americans are disproportionately affected by the criminalization of marijuana which makes passing the law a civil rights issue.

“We have empirical proof that the application of the marijuana laws has been unfairly applied to our young people of color,” Huffman said in an official statement.

Police departments in California have made more than 60,000 marijuana possession arrests in 2008, three times more than in 1990, according to a recent study released by the Drug Policy Alliancean organization that says it promotes policies to end the war on drugs. Although blacks and Latinos make up less than 44 percent of the state’s population, together both ethnic groups constitute up to 56 percent of arrests that are made for marijuana possession in California, according to the study.

Furthermore, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has found that African-Americans use marijuana at lower rates than white Americans across the country.

The study said arrests in California are “racially-biased” and have led to a “system-wide phenomenon, occurring in every county and nearly every police department in California, and elsewhere.”

There exists a racial gap in marijuana arrests and this video supports why that might be: Black people get started smoking pot earlier. This might also explain why Black people get arrested at higher rates for drug usage.

An Acid Test Re-dux : What Would Al Sharpton Do?

So the great acid throwing incident of 2010 was an elaborate hoax, a ruse, a self-inflicted wound blamed on a non-existent Black female who just wanted to quench the white girl’s thirst:

Bethany Storro, the Portland woman who claimed that an unknown black woman threw acid in her face, yesterday admitted she’d made up the story…

But why did she tell police her assailant was black?

Klein-Von Reiche says that the fact that she said it was a black woman is “fascinating.”
“Of course it could imply racial issues,” she says, “But, she says, it might also have been her unconscious way of saying that she did it herself – black could represent the dark side of herself over which she has little control.”

Bethany’s story now joins Newsone.com list of five other such incidents where a white person has blamed their misfortune on a fictitious Black person and received momentary sympathy from a credulous media and sympathy from an understanding public, well-versed in the reality of nightly newscasts and the unconscious knowledge of Thugreport.com subject matter.

Though Bethany’s story was a lie, the daily victims of petty-to-horrendous Black crime tell a silent tale that few want to hear and even fewer wish to acknowledge. These stories are so common that most non-Black people become numb to crime statistics, aware that the sounds of police sirens in a big city probably signify a reaction to Black malfeasance.

Why do you think a white guy donned a mask in the guise of a Black male to rob banks?

Only Disingenuous White Liberals feign incredulity to the high levels of Black crime, Black poverty and Black failure in the school system. This Hydra of problems poses the greatest threat to Black people, doing much more than the proverbial, shadowy threat of sheets and crosses could ever have accomplished in bringing an entire community to the brink of ruin.

Interesting that these six stories of white people blaming fictional Black rouges serves as a metaphor of Black people blaming their continuous problems on those persistent, pernicious villains known as the legacy of slavery, white privilege and omnipotent racism.

Hmm.. who is it that Black people constantly blame their predicament and lot in life on? Oh, that’s right – The Man, i.e. white people. The ghost of slavery is a constant source of angst and misfortune for Black people, a crutch they call upon with increasing frequency to lean on when troubles arise in their community.

Something called white privilege is the culprit of Black people’s inability to land good jobs, get into elite colleges or lead successful lives for they lack the proper shade of epidermis to enter this exclusive club frequented by cigar smoking white people.

Look, if you are a competent Black person, the United States of America is currently your oyster. Every college will fight over you, funneling money and scholarships to fund your education. Many college scholarship programs are set up to EXCLUDE white people, one of the many privileges of melanin-deficiency in Black Run America (BRA).

If you are a competent Black person, Fortune 500 companies will fight over you and fast-track your career to becoming CEO/CFO/CMO/CDO before you can even sign your contract.

The point is simply this: to many Black people, the root of their problems can be traced to one source – the  Tigris and Euphrates of their global failures – nefarious white people intent on keeping them forever under their boot.

Nothing could be further from the truth, as all white people seek the acceptance of Black people in an all-out effort to repudiate the past sins of colonialism, racism and that avuncular Jim Crow. The collective guilt of perceived and inherent superiority weights heavily on the ancestors of those who actually owned slaves.

DWL’s run America – even the evil Republicans follow the rules outlined by their purported political enemies – and it is set-up to be highly advantageous to Black people. Again, the collapse of the United States (global!) economy in 2008 took place largely because of the desire to see more Black people own homes – the elusive American Dream – and their subsequent inability to pay their mortgages once they saw that dream come true!

The question is should SBPDL apologize for falling for the fake story of a Black woman asking a white girl if she wanted something to drink and then dousing her in acid?

Sure, I’ll apologize when the Duke 88 apologize to the lacrosse team they attempted to have castrated in the rape hoax.

I’ll apologize when Tawana Brawley and Al Sharpton put forth a mea culpa for their rape hoax.

I’ll apologize when Black people stop blaming their continual failures on white people, when it is white people who put forth the primary effort in uplifting that community.

What other hoaxes have I neglected to consider?

This Blog, upcoming book and changes that will occur on October 10, 2010 – the long awaited debut of SBPDLTV – have a genesis in one thing: the pursuit of truth, however unpleasant it may be.

I  stand by everything I have written, until proven incorrect. In the case of Bethany “Two-Face” Storro, one must be big enough to admit to jumping the gun.

Funny, Black people who blame white people for their continued failures are making a monumental mistake, crying wolf when no predator but their own image glares back.  At some point, people will stop listening.

Blaming others for problems they face is the route of cowards. I’m reminded of the speech from Rocky Balboa, regarding cowardice and seeking to blame others for their failures:

“When Things got hard, you started looking for something to blame. Like a Big Shadow.
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it…

You’ve gotta hit as hard as life. It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much can you take and keep moving forward? That’s how winning is done.

If you know what you’re worth, Go out and Get What Your Worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that.”

Black people believe that big shadow that keeps them perpetually down is courtesy of white people. Nothing could be further from the truth, when you consider who comprises the roster of Teach for America and when the heartwarming story of Michael Oher enters the discussion.

No one ever apologized to the citizen’s of Jena for the untruths and falsities that originated and spread like a contagion from their town. SBPDL won’t hold any breaths awaiting apologizes from the aforementioned denizens of truth.

We’ll just get up, dust ourselves off and keep pressing forward. That’s how winning is done.

Offshoots of Liberalism – Feminism

Locust: Feminism+Liberalism=low birth rates

Offshoots of Liberalism – Feminism
by Albert Weisbord

We cannot leave the subject of Liberalism without analyzing at least two connected subsidiary movements, namely, feminism and pacifism. In this chapter we shall deal with feminism.

I

In the narrow sense of the term, feminism is a movement striving for equal political and social rights for women. The movement developed around the question of women suffrage but took in also many other problems, such as equal protection of the law, equal rights to property, equal opportunity for education, better marriage relationship and the right to engage in professions, etc. In its broader sense, feminism means more than mere political and social equality with men; but it is designed to further the potentialities of womanhood to their highest point.

Human history, as far as we know, starts out, in the period of primitive communism of the savage and the lower barbarian, with placing woman in an exceptional favored position. This is the period of the matriarchate where women were deified in religion and controlled the major portion of the social life of the tribe or gens.

The reasons for this superior position of women are not hard to find. Dominated by nature, rather than controlling it, mankind in those days recognized at every step the unbreakable umbilical cord which tied him to mother earth. In the labor process which constituted his reaction to nature, to wring from it the things he needed and desired, it was not the means of production that he knew how to manage, since his instruments were as yet very poor. Only one productive factor remained distinctly within his control; that was labor itself. Women were important, therefore, as producers of labor, generators of life. In his struggle against nature, mankind turned to the technique of the rabbit to make up with large numbers of progeny and mass fertility what he lacked in mechanical technique. Only thus could the race be preserved from the dangerous vicissitudes of the struggle for existence that exacted such a heavy toll of life under primitive conditions. Women were worshipped, then, as mothers, not as women, as generators of life, much as the sun was worshipped for the same reason.

The researches of Morgan and others have amply shown that sex life was principally a matter of mating and fecundity. It was for this reason too, that at first the two sexes indiscriminately intermingled. Gradually, bans were established between fathers and daughters, and mothers and sons; later came the bans preventing brothers and sisters from sexual intercourse. With the appearance of private property, sex regulations took on not merely a negative character but a positive one, marriage implying not so much a negation of promiscuity, a prohibition taken for granted, as signifying the creation of an important social status with its burdens and obligations. Laws of fertility on the one hand, and such mores as infanticide, patricide, cannibalism and other forms of destruction of the human members of the tribe, on the other, eloquently testify to the bitter struggle merely to survive in primitive society. Under such primitive conditions there could be no thought of individual love as idealized by the Liberal.

As society emerged to higher levels with the domestication of animals and the development of the rudiments of agriculture, productivity was developed sufficiently to permit the labor of one person to support more than himself. From this time on slavery was possible and private property is in evidence. Simultaneously society evolved from a period where war was practically unknown to a period of incessant warfare. As mans control over the means of production grew, the necessity to produce large numbers of offspring in order to survive became lessened. Under these new circumstances women, physically weaker and inferior in the use of arms and at the same time no longer so much needed for the survival of the race, was reduced to the position of a piece of property and became a slave to the male head of the family. Matriarchy changed to patriarchy; the worship of woman as the source of fertility changed to the worship of the phallus.

In this period, so well demonstrated in the ancient societies of Rome and of Greece, women as well as children were held important chiefly because they now labored as slaves and they could reproduce more slaves, that is, further elements of property. Here, too, the Liberal’s ideal of individual love was unknown. The child may be mated to another in mere infancy. The will of the father and head of the household was in all cases completely decisive. Marriage was a family affair entirely, just as before it was a tribal affair.

The formation of the city-state in ancient society, coincident with the growth of trade and money, gave new desires to that portion of society released from care by the labor of the slaves. Supported by the luxury loving master class, certain women, the heterae, were able to rise far above the average and to give a glamorous foretaste of the intellectual possibilities of womanhood. It was under the stimulus of the heterae that art and poetry and science were developed in classic Greece.

* * * *

The breakdown of ancient slave society and the substitution of feudalism placed new conditions upon women. The incessant warfare for landed property in which the stronger mercilessly beat down the weaker and rendered the latter serfs placed the women, who had just emerged from the equality and superior status of the primitive communism of the barbarian tribes, in a particularly inferior position. With brutal physical force as a preponderant element of ethics, one could enlarge one’s standing only through conquest or amalgamation of family connections.

Among the upper classes in feudalism, concatenated with the transmission of property only through the male line, women’s rights were completely merged with those of the husband and father, women becoming perpetual wards and infants. However, with the breaking down of feudalism and the beginnings of trade, property was allowed to be willed; women were able to inherit realty as well as personalty. Because of the growing influence of women as holders of property and vast landed estates, because marriage to certain women in dominating families was the way to consolidation of estates and even kingdoms and thus was the course to develop political economy, the women of the upper class became endowed with specially privileged positions, and the age of chivalry was inaugurated. Marriage and love, however, were still strictly “state affairs” and had very little to do with ideals of Liberalism. Modern individual love begins with adultery under feudalism.

The Catholic Church itself opened the way for women to important positions. The convents in the Middle Ages were not only feudal castles, but also colleges and industrial establishments. In these convents women not infrequently ruled as abbesses, not only in purely female institutions, but even in mixed convents, as in Whitby in England, Fontaeburt in France, Wadstena in Switzerland, etc.

As for the serf, he wanted a woman not from the point of view of beauty or even goodness, but from the point of view of physical endurance and fertility. Essentially, this remains the point of view of the farmer even of today. The average farm cannot be worked by one person, or even two, effectively. It can be worked only by a family, and it is the women’s job to produce and take care of that family. It is this that demands that every farmer get a wife for himself at the risk of economic failure. Under feudalism, the serf needed the permission of the lord to marry; and since marriage had nothing necessarily to do with love, and since its stability, on the other hand, was vital to land tenure, it was no wonder that the moral code of the times as expressed by the Catholic Church permitted no divorce for any reason whatever.

It was only with the rise of capitalism that women began to play an important political role in society. With the development of cities, of commerce and finance, of art and science and luxury, a wealthy class emerged which transferred its activities from outdoors to indoors, and substituted the palatial mansion for the rough feudal castle. If the feudalists still lived in the realm of rude necessity, the capitalists dwelt in the kingdom of luxury. Immovable real property made way for movable personal property. The affluence and influence of the ruling classes were now demonstrated not by the amount of lands possessed but by the amount of luxury that could be lavished on the home. Women, as the leading factor in the home, rise in importance. The wealth of the husband was put to use in the adornment of the wife. The ladies of the day were called upon to exaggerate precisely those secondary sexual characteristics which distinguish them from the male, and to nurse carefully all the traits that the approbation of the day considered beautiful. The women of the wealthy moneyed class had the leisure to act their parts and to become veritable objects of art.

As the wealthy city patricians struggled for power in the State, their palatial mansions were turned into political salons where it was the women who presided and graciously dominated the scene. Among the upper classes, therefore, a considerable number of women were enabled to develop their capacities to an exceedingly high level. “When the lady reached her heyday of supremacy in the thirteenth to the sixteenth century, her class gave to the world many women of marked intellectual power and of special gifts in many lines.” (*1) Carried away with the feminist enthusiasm of the times, a Cornelius Agrippa, soldier and scholar, can write a book of thirty chapters on “The Superior Excellence of Women Over Men”, or a Peter Paul Ribera can publish “The Immortal Triumphs and Heroic Enterprise of 845 Women”, etc.

It is only in this period of the Renaissance that modern individual love advanced. Among the wealthy classes, women were no longer needed merely as laborers or slaves or as producers of children. They now became not a means to an end, but an end and object of affection in and of themselves.

The period of the Reformation, coinciding roughly with the transformation of money into capital through the rise of the factory system, witnessed a further change in the position of women. Slowly but surely the woman was being dragged into the factory to work side by side with the men. Gangs of mixed men and women would be sent out in the countryside as agricultural laborers. The systematic education which women had been able to obtain in certain convents disappeared with the suppression of religious orders. The protection of women, of the weak and helpless, which theoretically had been under the care of the Church, now broke down. In the cities, too, a new type of relationship appeared with the storekeepers wife and helper who pooled her little property with that of her husband and who toiled from early to late together with him. Thus the old subdivision of labor between men and women was being broken down and a certain equalization established.

The period of the Reformation laid the basis for a theory of individualism. The extreme Protestant sects, such as the Quakers, who had decided that God resides in the bosom of each person, could not deny that women too was a person and that God equally resided in her. So, among the Quakers, women were allowed to have equal rights with men in being the embodiment of the holiness of God and having the power to preach. The Quakers were destined to take a leading part in the Liberal feminist movement that sprung up later. However, even among the Quakers in the United States it was not until 1878 that they voted full equality to their women in managing property of the Society. (*2)

The struggle of the capitalists against the old order forced them into the rationale in which they expounded as fundamental the doctrine of the inalienable Rights of Man which he possessed as a human and which no one could take away. These theories could easily be embraced by the awakening of self-conscious women and become the basis for a Declaration of the Rights of Women.

The industrial revolution came down like an avalanche to destroy the home. The Renaissance had witnessed the establishment of the home in the cities, the modern industrial capitalism began to break it up. Before the industrial revolution, women had played an important independent position in the prevailing social subdivision of labor. In their own field they were expert handicraftsmen. On the farm, where the family was a unit of production, the woman not only had to breed and rear her children, but had to spin and dye the yarn, weave the cloth, sew the clothes, knit the socks, make the carpets, take care of the garden, make and preserve the food, cure the meat, do the milking, churn the butter, make the cheese, manufacture the candles, etc.

The industrial revolution had terrific consequences on these home crafts, destroying them completely. Hitherto, the independent farmer and family unit had been able to subsist because of two factors: first, the use of the common lands in the village and town, and second, the existence of home industries under the control of the women. These two factors were now eliminated. The common lands were seized by the lords and ruling groups of the towns, villages and burroughs. Home industry went next under the batterings of factory machine production. Thus was the independence of the yeoman and farmer destroyed and the home broken up. Later on the women were to lose their ability not only to make clothes but to cook. No further excuse could now exist for the maintenance of the old family as the social unit.

The introduction of machinery did away with all the old crafts which hitherto the men had monopolized in the factory. With the new machinery, women and children poured into the factories, at first, to meet the growing demands for goods, later, to displace the men from their jobs.

This new situation meant a terrific dislocation of the old social relations. The former mutual aid associations were broken up. Machinery deprived the craftsmen of their former standards of living. A new and far more helpless group, the women and children, dominated the working force of many factories. The pay of the men was reduced so that often the whole family received what he alone used to get before.

The entrance of women into industry made men take a different attitude towards women. No longer to the same extent the household slave of the husband, subject to his full control over her material circumstances and her life, she first appeared as a menace to the craftsmen whose job had been taken away. At the start, the organizations of the workers tried to adopt a policy of driving the women out of employment. In the United States, for example, at the Convention of the National Trades Union in 1836 a report was submitted on women labor declaring it an injury to women and a competitive menace to men, and urging laws prohibiting female labor. (*3) In 1850 the printers, hotel workers, shoe makers and tailors organizations took steps to rid themselves of the competition of women. Section 17 of the Constitution of the Journeymen Cordwainers Union provided that no women should be allowed to work in any of the shops controlled by the Union, “except she be a members wife or daughter.” (*4)

However, the old craftsmen could as little stop the influx of women into industry as they could stop the introduction of machinery. After the Civil War it became clear in the United States that women was in industry to stay. By 1867 the Labor Congress declared that in many trades women were qualified to fill the same positions formally occupied by men and demanded that they should get the same pay. The Convention of the National Labor Union in 1868 recognized the right of working men to strike and the necessity for their organization. The Knights of Labor welcomed women, some trade assemblies being entirely composed of women, one local assembly having fifteen hundred such members. Thus, in order to save their standards and preserve their own solidarity, the unions were forced to take women into their ranks and to treat them as equal in every respect. It is in the labor movement that political and social equality becomes first clearly practiced.

The industrial revolution provided the material circumstances and social conditions compelling the formation of a regular feminist movement. With the breaking up of home life, the woman was released from the idiocy of the kitchen, from the cow-like status of nursing children. She was now forced to enter into a new world of experiences, to stand on her own feet and to take care of herself. This meant a broadening of the character of women and an increase of her financial and material independence. Thus now, in contracting the marriage relation, more and more women of all classes could insist on being loved in their own right and not as a means to some other end. The same applied to the man. Not the family, nor the State, nor the feudal lord, nor the tribe could dictate any further women’s choice; this choice was now her own.

It must not be imagined that the life of the working woman is a rosy one under capitalism. Far from it. The host of factory laws that were enacted testify most eloquently to the ferocious exploitation in the factory and the degraded life in the slums that, unprecedented in history is woman’s lot even today.

Nor have the horrors of the new life by any means overthrown the burdens of the old. The married woman has the triple burden of the home cares and child-bearing as well as factory work. What awful consequences to society does capitalist progress entail!

With the new division of labor set up in one section of the country, regions predominantly male (mining towns, lumber camps, etc.) arise; in other parts “female towns” (textile, etc.) appear. Thus the old harmonious relations between men and women in society are completely shattered. In other places capitalist pressure becomes too great to maintain the structure of the family. Mass abandonment of responsibilities of family life occurs even more frequently on the part of the male. The female cannot abdicate so easily and is generally left “holding the bag.” Such action is stimulated by the turmoil of periodic unemployment and compulsory immigration so commonplace in our civilization.

This situation is particularly true among Negroes in the United States. The Negro woman is frequently the actual head of the family. Incidentally, this has tended to breed in her a great strength and ability to take care of herself that is quaintly illustrated in homicide statistics. “Negro women, it seems, are far more frequently slain with firearms than are white women. This may be because Negro women are more likely to injure or slay their assailants. Anyone, then, who plans to attack a Negro woman will prefer to use a firearm in order to avoid risk of a successful counter-attack.” (*5)

Such general conditions, as well as the helpless position of the women laboring population in the factory, have led to widespread prostitution, vice, adultery, etc. the old moral life is gone, no longer to return. Women are left to shift for themselves. Among the workers, Liberal individual love tends to turn into Radical free love. Among the bourgeois, marriage tends to be followed quickly by divorce. The love nest becomes a psychopathic ward. Here is the finest flower of industrialist individualism.

2

It may be said that America was the cradle of the Women’s Rights Movement as a mass political organization. It is true that under the spur of the French Revolution there had already appeared both in England and in Germany books dealing with the discrimination against women and calling for equal rights for women. In 1792 in England, Mary Wollstonecraft, wife of William Godwin, put out her book on “Vindication of the Rights of Women”. In Germany, in the same year, Theodore von Hippel wrote his treatise on “The Civil Improvement of Women”. But these books did not give rise to any organized movement. They were rather the individual expressions of the deep seated social transformations then taking place.

It is also true that in the French Revolution women played an extremely important role. The Liberals like Condorcet and Madam Roland came out for the equal treatment of women and there was even presented to the National Assembly a Declaration of the Rights of Women on behalf of the women’s clubs organized in France. However, this special women’s movement was, but momentary and did not sufficiently reflect the material conditions of agrarian France. If the women fought in the French Revolution — and fight most heroically they did — it was simply to protect their homes and lives and not for special feminist demands. When a revolutionary movement becomes deep-seated enough to threaten the breakup of the home, when civil war is the order of the day and members of the family are ranged up each against the other, house against house, street against street, village against village, under such circumstances women are naturally going to fight and, when once aroused, they can fight far more furiously than the men. None the less, their struggles are, after all, struggles of their class rather than of their sex.

In America, however, circumstances converged to precipitate earlier than elsewhere a definitely organized political movement of feminism. After all, where else was woman treated more nearly equally than in America; where else had she been forced to stand on her own feet, divorced from all the old customs and traditions of ancient Europe?

Americans have never been home builders in the European sense. The Frenchman, for example, seldom invites any but the closest friends or relatives to his home. In America, privacy of the home is little respected; there is generally open house to which the most casual acquaintance may be invited. The family in the United States appears to be built on the “club” plan, a sort of temporary arrangement where each comes and goes at will. It is not exaggerated to say that the American’s home, with its wide verandas and rocking chairs, has occupied much the same place that the cafe does for the Frenchman. And during Prohibition times this home frequently literally resembled a cafe, that is, a “speak-easy.” In America each member of the family, having friends often totally unknown to the others, makes free to invite them to his home, that is, to his “private club,” so to speak.

In the beginning of American colonization immigrants were mostly men. To obtain women, England often had to clean her streets of prostitutes and empty the jails, whence they were shipped to America to become the wives of the settlers. In many cases the death of the husband would leave the womenfolk absolutely without any other support but their own labor. The hectic periods of immigration, with their heavy death toll, and the difficulties of life in the New World, unsolvable by the Old-World manner of living, impelled many women to strike out for themselves.

Since the heavy preponderance of the male population made women greatly in demand, they were welcomed everywhere and much sought after. The treatment of women in America was far more favorable than in the Old World. They were not allowed to do the very heavy work in the field, and only among the Pennsylvania Dutch and German migration could there be found women who actually worked in the fields with their husbands.

Everywhere on the posts of danger women were to be found. They went shoulder to shoulder with their husbands, pioneers, backwoodsmen, frontiersmen of all kinds. They shouldered the gun to fight off the Indians. They developed a hardy independence and self-reliance that has been unsurpassed.

The exceptional position to which women were able to attain in America allowed them also intellectual opportunities early in life. Many of the women were well versed in the Bible and had for times a tolerably good schooling. Indeed, often the children’s education depended not upon the schoolhouse but upon their mother. Women quickly took to journalism and became well-known writers, poets, and people of note in the literary world.

Such women could not long be content with specializing in literature. They insisted upon broadening out to the general sciences and, although often limited to an elementary school teaching, a considerable number managed to acquire the knowledge of expert professionals. It is in America where first the struggle was made for women to enter the professions and to be recognized there. The first medical school for women was established in Massachusetts in 1848, and Elizabeth Blackwell became the first woman to practice medicine, in 1865 establishing her own medical school in New York. Other medical colleges were opened in Philadelphia, in Chicago, and elsewhere about the same time. Sooner or later professional women were bound to ask why they should not be treated politically as the equal of men.

With the development of industry in America, women were plunged directly into the mills. Already by 1850 in the cotton factories of twenty-five states, over sixty-two thousand women were employed, or sixty-four per cent of the total number of workers. Thus even before the Civil War women were coming into their own, not only as nurses, teachers, domestics, and to some extent as professionals, but, most important, as factory workers as well. The extraordinary demand for labor in America accelerated the process of drawing women into all sorts of occupations and giving them a prominent place in many industries.

Significantly enough, the Women’s Rights Movement started as a branch of the Abolitionists. In 1833 a Men’s Anti-Slavery Society had been formed in Philadelphia, followed immediately afterward by a women’s branch called the Female Anti-Slavery Society. The women of the independent middle class in their strivings to be considered as humans in their own right, could not avoid becoming closely attached to Abolitionism. The freeing of the slaves went hand in hand with a general democratic tendency to consider every being, including women, as worthy of equal treatment.

In the course of their agitation for the freeing of the slave, these advanced women soon came into violent conflict with prevailing prejudices. Lucy Stone, attending a church meeting on the Negro question, found her vote not counted with the argument that women have no rights according to the Bible. The Grimke sisters found themselves hooted and stoned when they appeared in public and finally had the roof of their hall torn down almost over their very heads. On all sides churches and halls were closed to women’s meetings and mobs attacked them.

The women persisted, however, and in 1839 the National Society, of Anti-Slavery Women, which had grown out of the old Female Anti-Slavery Society, applied to join the National Society of Anti-Slavery Men. Harassed by this question of permitting women to take part in political affairs as equals, the men’s group split into two parts, one siding with the women. It was this latter group which sent men and women delegates to London to the first International Conference for the Abolition of Slavery.

In London, the American delegates found that the women were barred from the Conference and were ordered to sit in the gallery. As a protest, two of the men delegates joined hands with the women and also retired to the gallery, where there was born the idea of forming a Women’s Party.

In 1848, at Seneca Falls, New York, there was held, under the leadership of Mrs. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, the first National Convention of the Women’s Rights Movement. From that time on until the freeing of the slaves the Women’s Rights and Abolitionist Movements closely intertwined and the Abolitionist Paper, “The Liberator”, became open to articles by feminists in which not merely chattel slavery but the slavery of women also was the subject of attack.

* * * *

If we analyze the Women’s Rights Movement as a whole we can see that it is a thoroughly bourgeois Liberal movement, entirely dissociated from any but middle class elements. It starts as a general conception of human rights; it later narrows down to an emphasis on women suffrage. Wealthy women of property, as well as intellectual and professional women, felt that it was intolerable that they should be considered lower than the Negro slave or the ignorant servant immigrant, and it was they who articulated a protest for an extension of democratic rights for women.

It should be kept in mind that in colonial days certain women could vote in a number of the colonies. Before 1783 in nine states the right to vote was exercised by “free born citizens” or “taxpayers” and “heads in families” and these categories included many women as well.

In the West the issue of suffrage did not come up until Jackson’s time since there the population generally did not find the ballot important enough for use. However, once the men obtained a vote, the Western women who had struggled side by side with their menfolk on an equal plane in every respect, who had educated and brought them up in many cases, and who were esteemed and respected by all, refused to be denied what their husbands and sons had been able to secure. The frontiersmen and Western pioneer owed too much to their women to be opposed to such a demand. Besides, the participation of women in politics could only increase the strength of their own class. It was not until after the end of slavery, however, that the women members of the Western farmer elements could think of presenting their own claims. Prior to that only the women of the wealthier and intellectual city classes had publicly voiced their demands.

The unstable marital conditions that existed in America made it imperative that women should own the property which came into their possession. Otherwise, as family life tended to be too transient and unstable, there was hardly a sufficient guarantee of protection for a woman. Thus, the question of property rights was raised to a prominent position in the Liberal Women’s Rights Movement, as was her claim to entrance into the professions and to economic security in her own right.

The Women’s Rights adherents early took the program of Liberalism and developed it in their own interests. They first attempted to appeal to the natural and inalienable rights of women, as being superior to the law and by which the law should be guided, just as the early Liberals who formulated the Declaration of Independence had done. The women, however, found themselves in the embarrassing position that whenever they appealed either to the Bible or to Natural Law, or to some other eternal principle of morals hallowed by the past, the argument was stronger against them. Reference to the Bible, for example, could bring little solace to the women demanding equality and soon enough the Women’s Rights Movement had to pass a resolution “That whatever any book may teach, the rights of no human being are dependent upon or modified thereby, but are equal, absolute, essential, inalienable in the person of every member of the human family, without regard to sex, race, or clime.” (*6) Thus the women were forced to a position of Radicalism and to deny the Bible to which they opposed their ideas of inalienable rights. (*7)

Nor did the doctrine of natural law and inalienable rights get women very far either. Women’s Rights protagonists could always be informed that from time immemorial, where supposedly brute force had prevailed, women’s position had been far inferior to what it then was. In those days the researches of Morgan and others relating to the favorable position of women in primitive society were as yet unknown. Natural law could hardly give what the Bible had refused to yield.

Thus women were forced to make their fight not only on religious or even moral grounds, but on traditional political and social grounds. This became clear after the Civil War when the women’s movement separated itself from Abolitionism, and put forth such slogans as “No taxation without representation,” and “No government except by the consent of the governed,” etc., to persuade the Liberal State to accept their demands.

Soon all of these traditional arguments were brushed aside and women boldly based their claim on American individualism, the right of each person for complete development of personality. Women’s suffrage was the means by which women would be able better to protect themselves. It was un-American for anyone to seek protection from another, to be the permanent child and ward of some other person or group. In the name of each one’s right and duty to take care of one’s self, women suffragists tried to prove that thereby not only would their own individuality develop but thus they could also become far more socially effective.

After the Civil War, the National Women’s Suffrage Association was formed, later becoming the American Women’s Suffrage Association, with Henry Ward Beecher as the first President. A concerted drive was initiated, in the course of which the women were compelled to move more and more to a radical position.

In the late part of the nineteenth century, the principal economic demand of the women could be expressed in the slogan “the right to work,” that is, the opening up of professions and jobs to women as well as to men. The popularity of this demand was in direct proportion to the great need of American business men for an adequate labor supply. With the twentieth century, however, a different set of circumstances arose, driving a section of the Women’s Rights Movement into entirely different channels. As the Women’s Rights Movement began in the question of chattel slavery, so did it end in the question of wage-slavery. The women problem was but one aspect of a larger social problem. Once women, for example, were put to work in factories, it was found that mechanical equality was disastrous for them. Theirs was not equal pay for equal work; nor did they have the strength of the men whom they displaced. Besides, women were loaded with the triple burden of factory work and toil at home, as well as the trials of motherhood. Capitalism in its rampages of individualism could wantonly destroy its male workers and thereby affect only the present generation. In its destruction of the lives and health of the women population, however, it threatened the future of the whole race. Night work for women, industrial hazards, general working and social conditions, were abuses crying aloud for remedy and social regulation.

Under the impact of modern capitalism, the Women’s Rights Movement in America split into two divisions, especially marked after the women’s vote was secured in 1920 by constitutional amendment. One division, made up of out-and-out bourgeois elements, such as the National Women’s Party, insisted that women must be treated exactly as though equal to men, not in order to secure the welfare of women, but in order to permit the industrialists to remain unhampered by any legislation in their ruthless crushing of the lives and potential development of their women employees. Should there appear legislation calling for the abolition of night work for women? Then would the National Women’s Party come forth in the name of “Women’s Rights” to fight against such legislation protecting women workers, and would give argument that this protection would make women wards of the government and brand them as inferior children. The National Women’s Party, however, indignantly repudiated the charge that in their belated ardent advocacy of the doctrine of laissez-faire they were only the wards and childish tools of Big Business and the sweatshops themselves.

On the other side, the Women’s Rights Movement developed closer and closer ties with the labor unions and the Socialists. (*8) To this second group, women’s suffrage was no end in itself; it was a means to obtain the true development of womanhood. These women did not fear to ally themselves with every movement that would protect them in the new conditions of reckless industrialism.

* * * *

In America the feminist movement had been, in the main, merely a Liberal democratic one striving for the right to work and equal treatment of women in realizing the opportunities they all had under capitalism to advance. Plenty of opportunities to get out of the working class seemed to be present. All that women needed was to be allowed to grasp them. In Europe, however, there was no such illusion on the part of the masses either of men or of women that they could rise from their class station. How few opportunities were available for women to advance from their class could be seen by the figures of education in 1914 in Prussia. While there were 540 high schools preparing boys for the university, there were only 43 schools of corresponding grade for girls. The feminist movement of Europe, in the main, therefore, was not confined to mere bourgeois democratic demands for equal political rights of men and women. Only in England did the feminist movement have any such character and militantly concentrate on political rights. In England, feminism could keep its connections with Liberalism, for by this time Liberalism had broadened from the principles of Adam Smith and Jeremy Bentham to the Welfare-Liberalism of John Stuart Mill and Lloyd George.

On the continent, particularly in Germany and Scandinavia, the feminist movement very soon linked itself up with the working class Socialist organizations. In countries where not even the head of the family and chief bread-winner had a right to vote and where the struggle for democracy was a mere by-product of the struggle for Socialism, naturally the women emphasized economic and social welfare rather than special rights of franchise. What women fought for was not so much the right to work as the right to social protection.

In Germany, vast numbers of women were thrown into the industries. In the years just prior to the War, there were about ten million women wage earners in all of the 207 occupations listed in the German industrial census, while in 25 of these occupations they were the majority. Of the thirty-one million women, one-quarter were at work, and of the approximately seven million unmarried women over sixteen years of age, about six million labored, over two million toiling in industry; 22 per cent of women wage earners were married. (*9)

For a time these women were excluded by law from unions and political activity. Thus they were forced to organize underground. Naturally these women turned to Revolutionary-Socialism. To counteract this trend and in order to insure that the future children of Germany would be fit for the imperial army, the State, under Bismarck, began to make efforts for the social protection of women. This, however, did not in the least move working-class women to the support of Bismarck.

In 1894, the German Federation of Women’s Associations was formed and rapidly rose to over two million members. In 1891, the Socialist Party took a strong stand on equality for women, one of the leaders of the Party, August Babel, writing a standard treatise on the subject, “Women Under Socialism,” in which vigorous effort was made to win the working women to the banner of the Socialist Party. At the same time, under the leadership of Clara Zetkin and Frau Guillaume Schack, a women’s paper, Die Arbeiterin, was put out in Hamburg and soon had a circulation of over eighty-five thousand.

By 1907, the Socialist International Movement had developed its policy so far as to organize a Women’s Congress at Stuttgart to which women delegates came from many countries. Clara Zetkin became the International secretary. Faced with this pressure, the German government the following year removed the ban from the organization of women. Two hundred thousand women flocked into the Social Democratic Unions and the women’s political organizations merged with the Socialist Party. (*10)

From that time, too, working women played a very important role in international Labor and Socialist affairs. A new Women’s International Congress was held at Copenhagen in 1910, to which many women delegates came from all parts of the world. It was at the Women’s International Conference meeting at Berne in March, 1915, that there first arose the cry of revolutionary struggle against the World War. This memorable meeting paved the way for the gigantic split which soon occurred between the Socialist and the Communist movements. (*11)

It was not only in Germany that the women’s movement advanced. Elsewhere, too, steps forward were taken. In Scandinavia, for example, where, as in Germany, illegitimacy was exceedingly frequent, the divorce laws in Norway and Sweden became very liberal. For the poor in Norway, divorce is practically free and is easily obtained. As in Germany, various social legislation was enacted to protect motherhood, illegitimate children, women at work, etc.

* * * *

The World War and its aftermath have caused tremendous changes in the conditions facing the women’s movements throughout the world. The last war has initiated an entirely new phase of military history in which the whole nation, both men and women, have been more or less completely mobilized.

The distinction between front-line trench and the factory rear has tended to become obliterated.

During the War, women played an exceedingly and increasingly important role. In all belligerent countries special women’s committees were immediately organized by the governments. (*12) In Great Britain, for example, “To the call for labor power British women gave instant response. In munitions a million were mobilized, in the Land Army there have been drafted and actually placed on the farms over three hundred thousand, and in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps fourteen thousand women are working in direct connection with the fighting force, and an additional ten thousand are being called out for service each month. In the clerical force of the government departments, some of which had never seen women before in their sacred precincts, one hundred ninety eight thousand are now working.” (*13) Millions of women are later mobilized as consumers. What occurred in England was far more drastically accomplished on the European continent, particularly by Germany and the Central Powers.

In America, an immense apparatus was created on a national scale, using the prominent bourgeois women’s organizations, which reached to the last corner of the country and attracted to the war not only the middle class women but the working women as well. Operating under the direct control of the Federal Government, this women’s war work systematically penetrated even the colonial possessions.

Fifteen days after war was declared on Germany, on April 21, 1917, the mobilization was begun by the creation of a Women’s Committee of the Council of National Defense, organized by Act of Congress August, 1916, and consisting of the Secretaries of six State Departments plus an Advisory Committee of seven. Nine women were put on the Committee, most of them heads of large bourgeois women’s organizations, such as the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the National Council of Women, the National Women’s Suffrage Association, and others. Later two other women were added, one of them President of the International Glove Workers Union.

Within a few weeks the Women’s Committee had formulated a plan of action which was sent out to well-known patriotic women in forty-eight states, and national organization work commenced. Conferences were called consisting of the heads of women’s organizations, recognition given to clubs, religious denominations, fraternal and philanthropic societies, paternal and protective associations, etc. In every country, city, town, and village, local bodies were formed on the basis of individual membership.

Departments were established in all divisions for the following fields of work: registration, food production and home economics, food administration, women in industry, child welfare, maintenance of existing social service agencies, health and recreation, education, Liberty Loan, home and foreign relief. Some of the committees, such as food administration, women in industry, and Liberty Loan worked directly with Washington. Women were used to a large extent in recruiting campaigns where they had great significance, as they had also in the Liberty Loan and food conservation drives. In the pulpit, in press, in movie and school, in parade and mass meeting, the government campaign went on to mobilize the very last women to support the cause.

The actual concrete results of the campaign were of enormous help in conducting the war. After a few months of the campaign among women for the saving of waste bread, for instance, the National Commercial Economy Board stated that enough bread had been saved each day to feed a million people. Three hundred and fifty million dollars worth of crops were raised by women in backyard gardens during 1917, and in the same year thirty-six million dollars worth of garments made by women were sent to the troops abroad, according to Mr. Davidson, head of the American Red Cross.

Other organizations, too, were formed, such as the National League for Women’s Service and the Red Cross. The Red Cross Women’s Bureau mobilized the women so well for its work that in six weeks in the fall of 1917 women furnished 3,700,000 surgical dressing, 1,500,000 pieces of hospital linen, 125,000 articles of patients clothing, 302,000 articles of miscellaneous supplies, 241,000 knitted articles, and a large amount of other material.

It was not only at the rear that women played an indispensable role, but in the military forces at the front as well. In Russia in 1915 there was organized the famous regiment known as the Woman’s Battalion of Death, taking in thousands of women who fought at the front. All combatant armies had women’s auxiliary corps; many of them drove ambulances, tens of thousands were nurses and physicians, many thousands more handled telephone and telegraph sets. In the laundry work, in the commissary and cooking departments, in veterinary hospitals, in all the Red Cross work and social services attached to the army, women were absolutely invaluable. (*14)

Under such conditions it was impossible any longer to preclude women from active political participation and immediately during and after the War, in the Liberal countries of England and America, women’s suffrage was enacted; in America, on equal terms with male suffrage, in England at first under discriminatory conditions which later were abolished. (*15) In Germany, coinciding with the democratic revolution under the Socialists, women also were enfranchised.

Thus, in many countries, with the gaining of women’s suffrage, the old Liberal feminist and Women’s Rights movements passed into senility. They continued either as a direct appendage of Big Business, as the National Women’s Party in the United States, or changed their character in line with working class activity. The specific women’s program was merged in the general social problems of the working class.

In the Latin countries, precisely because of lack of industrial development, the tardiness in the breaking up of the home and the strong power of agrarianism, the women’s movement never strongly developed. The French movement is exceedingly weak even today. In Spain it has been only during the course of the present Revolution that women have been given the vote. Strangely enough, the very Radicals and Socialists who have advocated women suffrage in Spain mournfully confess that their women often vote for their hangmen and side heavily with the counter-revolution. There is no doubt but a similar result would be obtained in France today and women’s suffrage help greatly the Fascist forces.

This paradoxical situation is not new. The following table (*16) giving the women’s vote in Germany in 1922, for example, shows that this trend toward conservatism has been well known for some time.

 percentage of percentage of
 men women
 Communist 63 37
 Independent Socialist (Left) 59 41
 Majority Socialist 57 43
 Democrats 53 47
 Centrists 41 59
 Peoples Party 49 51
 Nationalists 44 56

Several reasons explain this difference between the voting trends among men and women. In the first place, the women of the property classes have more faith in parliamentary action, and are thoroughly awake to their political interest. Among the lower classes, however, in the past women have engaged in political action only when deeply stirred and then the action tended to be direct and physical rather than through the ballot. Besides, the women of the poorest sections of the population are often too exhausted and overworked to go to the polls.

The basic explanation is, however, that the pressure of capitalism works unevenly upon different elements of the same class. In France and Spain (particularly in Spain) where industry is not predominant and the home life has been traditionally stable to a greater extent than in other countries, the women stay at home while the men work. Entirely different material working conditions and cultural attainments prevail for the man than for the women. The politically awakened class-conscious worker must pay for the fact that he has not been able to make his wife partner in his social development. The Royalist, Clerical, and Fascist elements play upon the greater enslavement to habit and superstition that is women’s lot. They emphasize the need for maintaining the stability of the home, endangered by the activity of the husband, father, or son. Left to herself and brooding over the fact that political activity has apparently alienated the affections of her menfolk, the women then turns her own affections to those reactionists who can console her. Nor is this true only in agrarian countries. The figures given in the table above show that even in highly industrialized Germany women have not been drawn sufficiently into the mainstream of social movements as to work as consciously as the men for their own class interests.

Understanding this uneven pressure of capitalism, the revolutionary Communists have taken alarm at this condition which at times may be decisive against them in a given struggle. They point out that it is folly to wait until capitalism should emancipate the women equally with the man, since capitalism can never entirely complete the tasks it historically sets out to perform. Indeed, the mass of discrimination against women, far from decreasing, is steadily augmenting under the blows of Fascism.

Such Communists urge the necessity to close the gap by paying the greatest attention to the needs of women. Special women’s movements are created that wipe out the disabilities incurred in isolated home life. They engage in organizing the housewife against evictions, against the high cost of living, against slum conditions of vice, disease, etc. They interest the mother in the actions of school authorities and child welfare. They demand drastic enactment’s to secure motherhood and to obtain a protective system of pensions for housewives. A whole special literature for women is created in which there is repeated the cardinal principle that the revolution will be lost without the women.

The Communists need not worry too much. Once the revolutionary situation gives way to the actual uprising, the women will fight far more fiercely than the men in defense of their homes and families. Women are harder to arouse but when once aflame burn hotter.

Impending social convulsions, such as devastating wars, mass unemployment and cataclysmic revolutions, must tend to throw the women still further into political action. Future wars will close further the gap between front and rear and distinctions between men and women. The social revolutions will be of such a nature as to throw the women into the fray even more ferociously than the men. In both cases, individualism and Welfare-Liberalism vanish. The feminist movement becomes merely a subdivision of the class struggle.

Before 1928, in England, the qualifications for a woman to vote were that she must be thirty years of age and must either be an occupant of premises of the yearly value of five pounds, or the wife of a man entitled to be registered as a local government elector. Men over twenty-one had only residence qualifications to meet, although in local elections even men renting furnished rooms could vote. As a result however, of the “Equal Franchise” Act in 1928 women, at the present time, exercise the parliamentary vote on exactly the same terms as men voters. (See Maud I.
