Truth, Justice, and the American Way: Another Week in BRA
It seems that closing one’s eyes and trying to become oblivious to the world isn’t possible once you’ve had your eyes opened. Most times, a yearning for simplicity and a desire to find a distraction from what is transpiring across America is something I search for without success.
One of my avocations, college football, has been ruined by the recognition of a criminal element that is constant and consistent at every major university and college in nation: Black criminality. Yet the white alumni of these schools tolerate the criminality amongst the Black athletes acting as members of the student body, because they believe that Black players provide their alma mater with a greater chance of being victorious on Saturday.
Pervasive criminality follows Black players at every school they chose to attend (even the military academies) and yet concessions are constantly made to coddle and pamper these stars of the gridiron.
Every college lowers their academic standards to admit Black athletes, denying true student-athletes the opportunity to play an amateur game as it was once intended. Well, arrest rates at major colleges in the United States reflect those trends noticeable in the National Football League (NFL), and yet still the masses cheer like Big Fans.
The University of Mississippi, a school at war with its own traditions in a bid to win over future Michael Oher’s, has invited a known felon in Jeremiah Masoli to walk-on the team and potentially start at quarterback. Masoli was kicked off the Oregon team (unlike a running back who punched a white player last year from the same team), for theft.
At other institutions of purported higher learning, Black players have gotten into incredible amounts of trouble yet each year more Black high school players are pursued to fill the thinning ranks of collegiate football players at the schools. Black players routinely fail out of class or just fail to qualify, but are still pursued by coaches wielding massive budgets and mild-aged white guys follow their every recruiting machination on pay-per-view sites like Rivals and Scout.
The hilarious blog, Every Day Should Be Saturday (EDSBS.com) catalogues the crimes perpetrated by college football players and they continue to be a parade of All-American Black jocks engaging in extra-curricular behavior:
Florida State linebacker Nigel Carr likes piling up the stats. In 2009 he recorded 26 tackles for the Seminoles while seeing action in all 13 FSU games with just one start. Looking to step into a full-time starting role in 2010, Carr got off to a great start this spring where he not only made waves on the depth chart but also received a team award.
Competing with senior Mister Alexander for the starting strongside linebacker position, Carr’s off the field stats last week all but put Alexander’s name in big, bold, black ink atop the depth chart and left the remainder of Carr’s career in Tallahassee in jeopardy
Carr was arrested for breaking into two cars on the Florida State campus. In one of them he stole the victim’s credit card. That’s just the end of his spree though. Allegedly Carr also broke into another car near the stadium on Saturday in which police say he stole the victim’s checkbook. Oh, you thought that was it? Nope! He was also busted earlier in the week on a misdemeanor marijuana charge.
If you’re keeping track, that’s four felonies and three misdemeanors in over the last seven days. Now that’s a busy week!
College football would be more than 50 percent Black if so many young Black people weren’t behind bars:
More than three times as many black people live in prison cells as in college dorms, the government said in a report to be released Thursday.
The ratio is only slightly better for Hispanics, at 2.7 inmates for every Latino in college housing. Among non-Hispanic whites, more than twice as many live in college housing as in prison or jail.
The numbers, driven by men, do not include college students who live off campus. Previously released census data show that black and Hispanic college students — commuters and those in dorms — far outnumber black and Hispanic prison inmates.
Nevertheless, civil rights advocates said it is startling that blacks and Hispanics are more likely to live in prison cells than in college dorms.
Amy Windom, the Atlanta woman who was tied to her bed by a burglar and alerted her boyfriend by typing a computer message with her toes, told the AJC on Thursday that a suspect in the case has been arrested.
Atlanta police arrested Dontavius Jackson, 17, and charged him with armed robbery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, burglary and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.
He remains at the Fulton County Jail.
“I am enormously relieved,” she told the AJC.
Windom said she identified the suspect in a photo lineup Wednesday night. Windom said Atlanta police called her around 5:40 a.m. Thursday to tell her of the arrest and that the suspect was in the Fulton County Jail.
“They called me really late last night and said that they had a strong lead and asked if I could come in and do some identification,” Windom told the AJC. “I found the guy very clearly … there was no doubt in my mind.”
Windom declined to give details, saying she didn’t want to compromise any part of the investigation.
Windom said after signing some paperwork, she pushed the file folder back across the table to a detective and then started sobbing.
“I haven’t let myself have a breakdown on this because I’ve just been so focused on getting him caught,” she said. “Just knowing that they have him behind bars is a huge relief. I’m just enormously relieved and exhausted.”
Or, this horrible story of an anti-violence rally turned sour when the specter of Black-on-Black violence reared its ugly head and provided an ironic finality to the assembled advocates for peace:
A man attending a block party as part of the National Night Out anti-crime initiative was shot and killed in Paterson, N.J.
Police say 39-year-old Robert Godfrey was shot in the head while arguing with another man Tuesday.
It happened in front of a crowd just before midnight at 74 Godwin Ave.
Paterson Police say the man wanted in the fatal shooting has surrendered.
Marlon Rochester, 30, turned himself in to Paterson police and is held on $1 million bail, charged with murder and weapons offenses.
Lt. Ron Humphrey says witnesses saw the two men arguing loudly when Rochester pulled a gun and shot Godfrey once in the head.
National Night Out is observed across the U.S. as an annual event meant to heighten drug and crime prevention awareness. The August 3rd event was the 27th annual night out against crime.
24 neighborhood block parties were scheduled in Paterson as part of the event.
We could talk about Omar Thornton all day, but to do so would require a cup of coffee or two and a long attention span.
Sadly, East St. Louis has joined Oakland in cutting back the number of police officers patrolling the streets, as a dwindling tax base can no longer offset the economic burden of dealing with widespread criminality. With the financial downturn accelerating and local and state governments rapidly downsizing to cope with the onus of being fiscal responsibility, more cities will follow suit. The film Escape of from New York isn’t a far off possibility, but instead of being confined to Manhattan Island this dystopian scenario will be in your city.
And, to showcase the beauty of where Black Run America (BRA) has led us to, this map, “The Decline: The Geography of Recession” is the only tool necessary to provide such a road map.
Remember, 54 percent of the Black population is situated in the south, an area with a total unemployment rate of 10 percent or more. The only places in the United States without high employment rates happen to the whitest states, the so-called bread-basket of America.
Of note, compare the map of the recession to this map of diversity in the United States (courtesy of USA Today) and notice the disturbing trends. A database for the Black population of each state can be found here.
When one closes their eyes to the problems confronting this nation, upon re-opening them they only appear larger, more daunting and overwhelming.
Thugreport.com shows us the face of criminality in America and it is only getting worse.
This week in BRA saw the mass-murdering of eight white individuals by a Black guy who admitted to killing them because they were “racists” and regretted not killing more.
Oh, and in Chicago the family of a Black shoplifter killed by a choke-hold applying CVS manager has filed a wrongful death suit against that part-time MMA enthusiast. Anthony Kyser stole a toothbrush and crayons from a CVS and the manager found his duplicitous actions worthy of a choke-out, but Kyser didn’t tapout in time.
Only in Black Run America could insanity run wild. But hey, at least it’s almost time for kickoff of college football… this is going to be one interesting fall in the United States.
Truth, justice and the American way? These simplistic notions worked in the Golden Age of America, or what is called The Golden Age of Comics.
Now, we live in a world where Captain America isn’t even a flag-waving patriot, but a proponent of the world.
Truth and justice do not belong in discussion of the so-called American way. Once you have seen this reality, there is no turning away. Not anymore.
Ed. note (listen to this song when you look at the recession map that is provided. In fact, have this song open in another window when reading this piece)
